Just started.

Would be great to hear from others who are just starting.

First injection was was 28th July. No side effects so far. Appetite is decreasing but not as much as I've seen on other threads.

4 stone at least to lose.

I'm going to use this thread to give myself an online record.

Oh dear, that's how I felt before I had a really bad night. I hope you're feeling much better this morning Flowers

Thanks so much. Much better today thankfully!

SettingsOptions · 15/08/2024 14:58

NewLifter · 15/08/2024 10:40

Probably due to the high amount of sugar / carbs . Hope you're ok today! That was a lot of unhealthy food in a couple of hours so your tummy probably won't like it 🫣

You will soon learn what your body can handle!

Yes I think you’re right! Totally regret eating that looking back, but it’s good I’m learning my limits. Feeling a lot better today! I’m going to do the food shop in a bit so will get some more fruit/veg to snack on. Definitely learning my portion sizes need to be much smaller for meals too

AnnieMcFanny · 15/08/2024 15:36

Hi there, hi hope it’s ok to just jump in here and say that a few minutes ago I took my first dose of Mounjaro. I’d been waiting all day for it to be delivered by DHL and was just about to call and ask them where my parcel was when I checked once again with everyone at home and was told - it’s here, it was delivered at 10.30 this morning.

Anyway, a little bit about me.

Im 66 and have many children and grandchildren. I’m British but have lived abroad since the late 70’s. This last year I’ve developed a few health problems and though I can get some weight off I’m tired mentally and just don’t have the stamina to be doing this on my own in the long term. I had cancer a few years ago and although I’m good cancer wise my mental and emotional health took a terrible beating and it’s been a long road back to good mental emotional health though I can still get tired. But that could even be an age thing.

Im one of those overweight people who goes to the gym 3 times a week for personal training and I burn about 400 calories per session. Im also active in other areas of my life.

Health issues - insulin resistant, prediabetic and stage 1HBP. My bad cholesterol was slightly into not normal recently and that was a shock.

Why Mounjero? A family member who’s a Doctor suggested it after a recent holiday when we lived together for 3 weeks, he saw how active I was and that even 15000 steps a day still meant no weight loss in 3 weeks. Him saying what he did gave me the permission to accept it was ok to try injections. That it did in fact make sense to try. So here I am.

SW - 109kgs
GW - 99kgs initially.
H - 173cms

@AnnieMcFanny welcome, and good luck on your journey. Hoping your first day is easy going

AuntieDote · 15/08/2024 16:13

Welcome @AnnieMcFanny, sounds like you’ve been through an awful lot well done for getting through it and well done for the gym stamina too - I really need to start adding in the exercise!

I feel hideous today honestly, not sure if it’s mounjaro or something else - I just feel exhausted and quite low. Started out ok but got worse as the day went on. I’m also hungry and fighting urge to comfort eat - although as I’ve said before the medication is definitely doing something as I know I would absolutely have given in to those urges 2 weeks ago.

It’s MIL’s birthday and she’s chosen for us to all get a Chinese take away which is the last thing I need honestly. I was planning on just getting a soup or something, but part of me is tempted to just get my normal order and just eat a smaller portion of it.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 15/08/2024 17:32

Just had my first call with Voy and feel really deflated.

They ran through a binge eating questionnaire with me and I answered honestly and now she's said she needs to run through my answers with a clinician before they can decide if they're going to continue "supporting" me. I'm guessing that due to my history with binge eating they're going to say they can't prescribe to me anymore. I'm gutted. I thought I had found something that would really work for me and yet here I am, my past has fucked it up for me again

Oh no, that sounds upsetting. It’s also quite confusing because I would have thought that was exactly what the medication is supposed to help with. I definitely talked about bingeing - although my binges have never been extreme by some standards, but would certainly meet the definition of binge eating I think.

I understand they have to be very careful and need to make sure people are getting the right support/ treatment and that they are only operating within what they’re licenced for. Worth waiting to see what they say when they come back, but remember there are so many other providers, so even if Voy do say no then it’s not the end of the line.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 15/08/2024 17:47

@AuntieDote yeah that's exactly what I thought! I hadn't binged in 3 weeks before starting MJ so can't imagine it could be that much of an issue?

To be honest even after the call I don't think it was that worth it. Going to considering cancelling anyway and moving to boots cos I have an advantage card and could do with the points!

poppym12 · 15/08/2024 18:06

I had my first call from Voy today too @NeedSomeAnswersPlease. Bit pointless really as she didn't tell me much at all apart from to set weekly goals with exercising (difficult as I have ME).

I know my main meals are healthy, just too big. I know I need to cut out reaching for chocolate or a biscuit each evening.

I mentioned my concerns that I'm not getting enough protein so how much should I be having? 'a quarter of the plate should be protein'. I'm vegetarian and I don't like eggs or cow's milk (but I drink soya in coffee). There's only so many beans and legumes I can eat asei have IBS and although I love beans, they make me suffer afterwards. I'm also intolerant to oats.

So, I'm feeling a bit deflated too. And bloody hungry today.

Any ideas how much protein I should be eating? Nutracheck has 'balanced diet' set at 54 and 'high protein' at 118. I'm managing around 60 per day at the moment and that's including a collagen powder.

There's a value on BHF that helps you work it out

I'm going to switch away from voy I think, I think I'll end up with Lloyds as it's cheaper but considering boots due to the points

Arraminta · 15/08/2024 18:11

Can I join in please? Have just taken my very first dose!

SW: 12 stone 8lbs
TW: 10 stone 0lbs

Currently fighting peri menopausal bloating & sugar cravings. I carry all of my weight around my middle too, so from the side I look like a toffee apple on a stick!

Blondephantom · 15/08/2024 18:16

@AuntieDote, we had Chinese this week and I had still lost weight the next day. I ordered king prawn and mixed vegetables and then put a tiny bit of rice on the plate but didn’t actually eat it. The meal was enough. It works out quite low in calories and quite high in protein. Or you could order boiled rice and split both portions over two meals. I used to order Chinese back in the good old days of the WeightWatchers discovery plan and split it over two evenings. Always lost weight. I think it is one of the better take aways for us at the moment. Hope it goes okay.

Maybe try a diff provider

I'm with medexpress. Obv very new to this but they seem professional and quick and after I sent them pic and weight they approved me

Hello AnnieMcFanny I've just taken my very first dose today too! I'm also a cancer survivor, it was nearly 5 years ago and I'm doing very well.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 15/08/2024 18:19

@Blondeshavemorefun going to switch to boots or Lloyds, considering Lloyds I'm not sure £2 of card points is the same as £40 saved

Hollietree · 15/08/2024 18:52

Just had my very first injection tonight, so joining the group!

CremeDeSudo · 15/08/2024 18:55

When I booked my call with Voy she didn't have any space available til the end of the month!

If I don't get anyone to use my discount code which I'm unashamedly touting all over the board I might switch too then. I went with Voy because of the support, but if it's not supportive, what's the point!

@Arraminta, hi there. I’ve just had a thought and if I mentioned a particular Embassy in Cairo would I be on the right tracks.

Nope, you've completely lost me there I'm afraid?

AnnieMcFanny · 15/08/2024 19:11

@Arraminta No problem 😊. I thought you were a lovely lady who I used to chat with after we met on the cancer thread here. Her name was very much like yours and I’ve often thought of her.

I imagine you’re also a lovely lady. 💐

Arraminta · 15/08/2024 19:13

No worries. I'd like to think I can be lovely occasionally.
