Just started.

Would be great to hear from others who are just starting.

First injection was was 28th July. No side effects so far. Appetite is decreasing but not as much as I've seen on other threads.

4 stone at least to lose.

I'm going to use this thread to give myself an online record.

Ending today on 1300 calories if I eat my whole dinner

Gutted. Feel like it's not worked because surely I shouldn't be eating this much

Never mind, could only eat 1/3 of my dinner if that

Potterson13 · 13/08/2024 19:13

I've also found food suppression isn't as strong on week two, but to be honest I'm quite enjoying it. As others have said I really want to learn better habits, break bad ones and learn lessons about what my body needs so I can maintain when I eventually do come off this.

I still feel hungry at the usual times but the difference is I'm learning about portion sizes. For example today I had a ham bagel and a Babybel at work for lunch. My colleague gave me some crisps I LOVE usually and I put them in my drawer intending to eat them mid-afternoon but I forgot about them. Witchcraft! 😂

1300 isn't a lot! I wouldn't worry at all. Have you looked at a TDEE calculator? It'll show you your maintenance calories and the ideal amount to lose weight at a healthy pace which will maximise your chances of keeping it off in the long room.

MissFancyDay · 13/08/2024 19:14

I'm midway through my first week, I definitely feel hungry but I don't feel so inclined to put so much on my plate. I had a relatively small (for me) lunch of some marinaded chicken pieces, new potatoes and lettuce and tomato and coleslaw and now, several hours late I still feel absolutely stuffed!! and a bit burpy and gruesome. I don't think I can face much if any dinner.

It's definitely working for me even though I am feeling hungry. Tomorrow I will have smaller portions, maybe eat slower. This first month is a learning curve.

I had a peek over at the Uk Mounjaro facebook group. Wasn't keen to be honest, it's much more negative than here. Although the before and afters with photos are very inspiring.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 13/08/2024 19:15

@Potterson13 my maintenance is 2600 apparently, but I want to stay bellow 1500 as I'm short as!!

Wingingit11 · 13/08/2024 20:00

@AuntieDote i feel exactly the same. Feel completely different to week one and do hope
thi ha switch back on week three !

See I absolutely agree with this and I was posting before that it’s good in a way as it’s like practicing!

But then I convince myself again that it’s not working! I’m definitely overthinking obviously. Even though the cravings/ appetite are there again today, they’ve been easier to manage and mostly resist the urge to completely sabotage myself.

I should give myself more credit really as DH came home with piles of cookies he’d been sent home with from work (big boss was leaving and had provided lunch and various treats all day, and they’d all been sent home with the leftovers). Sort of thing I’d be all over normally but I didn’t touch them - I don’t think I’d even have been tempted last week but today did consider ‘just one’ - however I don’t want to risk triggering a binge or telling my brain I can have this stuff ‘now and then’ because that’s what I tell myself every time, and at first maybe it is just the odd occasional treat, but sooner or later that ‘now and then’ becomes every night and if we’ve nothing in then nipping to the shop to buy something, grabbing chocolate every time I have to fill the car up or walk past the co-op. Am going to have to do a lot more work I think before I can risk such ‘little treats’.

Has anyone else experienced a big boost in confidence and, well, daring to dream? In the last few days, I’ve seen a gap in the market, created a way to fill it with ideas for future upscaling and am frantically trying to set everything up as I need it up and running in the next two weeks before I go on holiday. I have had the idea before but never developed it.

Jabbed Saturday evening for the second time, still feeling amazing and really struggling to hit my calorie target. Rocking the protein one though. Plus, I slept for six hours straight last night. I never manage more than two usually due to my neuro condition.

What should be our calorie intake? I have done
my 2nd jab today and not so much suppression. However I had 2 cream crackers for breakfast with small bit of peanut butter,
lunch was a protein yoghurt, an apple and a plain cream cracker and dinner a chicken salad. I have however had a gin and tonic! Most meals are like this and am going too low?

Potterson13 · 13/08/2024 21:12

@AuntieDote very good point about not risking it just yet. Definitely a lot more work to be done. I'm just giddy with excitement at the prospect of seeing food the way others do. I firmly believe everything in moderation, but it's getting to the point where we can moderate isn't it

I’m using fitness pal to track how many calories I should have and how much protein. I’m eating around 300-400 less than it suggests for weight loss. It is hard, isn’t it? We don’t want to over-eat as we have weight to lose but then we don’t want to under-eat by too much because that has consequences too. Somebody posted a homemade protein shake the other day which may be helpful if you aren’t getting enough calories. I’m thinking there is a market for someone to invent protein enriched alcoholic beverages.

I hope the g and t was lush. Can’t face alcohol but last time that wore off for day six so at least I have the one evening a week.

HamAlive · 13/08/2024 23:50

I'm in week 2 and it's definitely different to week 1. Week 1 I had no appetite, didn't feel hungry. This week I have felt hungry, but haven't needed to eat a lot at each meal so it's helping with portion control. Some days I haven't felt like eating lunch.

Both weeks I have had an upset tum 💩 when it is wearing off around day 5. Anyone else?

DitzyDoes · 14/08/2024 03:46

Thank you @blondepjantom

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 14/08/2024 06:47

Day 2, woken up feeling a little sick and very tired but also down 5lbs from where I started on Monday! So I'm not complaining!

MidLifeResurgence74 · 14/08/2024 07:15

I’m at the end of week 1.

Apparently I’ve lost 8 lbs! But I’m not celebrating just yet as basically I’ve been unable to eat because of the nausea. Gym sessions have been hard too with little stamina to keep going.

I actually don’t like the full appetite suppression as it makes so very difficult to eat. Literally forced one lean chicken thigh and a tablespoon of lentils down last night. Wholly unsustainable really!

The lack of food noise though is remarkable and I do get that they’re two sides of the same coin. I used to sneak biscuits and chocolate into the house under my coat and hide them in my office. I’d plan my days around when I could secretly eat like taking longer coming back from a dog walk to eat cake in the car. None of this has crossed my mind for a whole week and it’s immense!!

Jab 2 is tomorrow. I’m not massively looking forward to it but hope that my body doesn’t react quite so strongly this time.

honkifyalikebeans · 14/08/2024 08:10

@MidLifeResurgence74 - I found week one gave me the most appetite suppressing. It's started to even out since then so hopefully week 2 will feel more manageable.

I know this isn't possible but it seems a really shame we can't specify our dose. I would have like 2mg at first and would like to move up to 3 now but don't feel the need to go up as far as 5.

Cosycover · 14/08/2024 08:26

I've been prescribed.

Oh God, I feel nervous now.

Going to stock up on some protein foods and supplements and start Friday morning.

CremeDeSudo · 14/08/2024 08:27

Just did my first week weigh in and I'm 4lb down! Over the moon with this as someone who's been eating well and exercising for ages and not losing as I genuinely expected less 😁

I'm also hoping for less suppression this week tbh because I want to be able to eat to have energy for the gym, which I didn't feel I had this week. Appreciate it's the first week and my body adapting etc

Octypuss · 14/08/2024 08:38

I got my first pen a couple of weeks ago but I still haven't injected - I've been worried about side effects and them impacting some busy days at work... 😩

I am away with work today, but am determined to do it tomorrow! I can do this!! 😂💪

I know it's different for everyone but I've found the side effects really manageable! A bit of nausea when I wake up and some tiredness but that's it!

I had the same in week 1, but it has been much better in week 2. I've felt hungry, but get full quicker so I'm still eating less, but not skipping meals like I did on week 1 because I couldn't face it.

CremeDeSudo · 14/08/2024 08:54

Pleased to see lots of people able to eat more on week 2!

I've also found side effects manageable. Bit nauseous in the mornings, was really really tired on day 3. Day 5 was weird as I was going from feeling a bit hungry to feeling nauseous all day, but did feel better when I ate. Yesterday was how I'd like it to be going forward. I had a bit of an appetite and felt like I'd eaten a lot but actually hadn't at all!

Octypuss · 14/08/2024 08:55

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease Thank you - that is what I needed to hear Flowers will definitely give it a go tomorrow!

The worst part was injecting myself!!! Got a huge rush of blood to my head just after I had done it but I've never been a fan of needles 🤣

That's useful info - I've been feeling waves of nausea which aren't being helped by peppermint tea. I'll try nibbling on something small.

Any ideas on how to get protein up? I've been basing my meals on protein and eating that part of the meal first. I tried a protein shake yesterday and it was grim - came back up! I also can't stand eggs. Or should I just stop worrying and accept that the adjustment will take time :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/08/2024 09:35

I'm reading these as an intrigued

I have contacted a few suppliers and price does seem to vary

Voy seem the most expensive after the first cheap month

Med express seems a good price

Think a few are with then from what I have read on this thread
