Just started.

Would be great to hear from others who are just starting.

First injection was was 28th July. No side effects so far. Appetite is decreasing but not as much as I've seen on other threads.

4 stone at least to lose.

I'm going to use this thread to give myself an online record.

@Redlightbulb

But the overall effects are wearing off. The first 2 days after injecting there was noticeable appetite suppression

I'm finding this too.

I've just had my 3rd injection. But the last 2 days my appetite was completely normal and I was back to eating far too much food.

Took my injection this morning and appetite decreased by the afternoon.

Week 1 lost 3lbs
Week 2 zero loss

I don't feel much is going to happen for me till my dose increases.

I fear I might be the same in a couple of weeks.
Lots of people don't even get any effect on 2.5.. but at least we got some to begin with anyway.

Potterson13 · 10/08/2024 20:57

2nd jab day (and weigh in day) for me tomorrow. I've definitely felt the appetite suppression wearing off as the week has gone on but I'm still making good choices. We went out for a meal last night after an event and it was a set menu. I chose fish goujons and I couldn't finish what was quite a small portion tbh. Enjoying it so far.

I have been weighing in daily. Unpopular I know. I used to be a member of team RH and they insist you weight every day and then take the average over the week as your loss. The aim is to get used to seeing your daily fluctuations but the average weight loss is always steadily increasing. It did eventually change my mindset after being hesitant at first. I have fluctuated daily between close to my starting weight and 5lbs down. Yesterday at 12pm scales were showing no loss, this morning they showed a 5lb loss. I'm also due on my period in a week or so and expecting increases then too.

I've reactivated my gym membership today. I'm aiming to focus less on what the scales say and more on how I feel/look. I'm aiming to start lifting again so the scales won't reflect any fat loss. As long as my clothes are comfy and I'm happy with my body, the number on the scales shouldn't matter (I hope!!)

Second jab today and I again got the lovely peaceful feeling a while later. Feeling a healthy tired too. I have a neurological illness and the symptoms disappear after the jab - lasted five days last time. It would be worth the money for that alone. Wishing everyone as great side effects as I get as they are all nice ones!

trulybee · 11/08/2024 08:17

Week 2 day 3
Well! Last week on day 2/3 I had stomach issues and nausea but not this week. Hopefully a sign of my body getting used to it. No food noise. Managed to eat 1400 calories yesterday and 120g of protein and 15k steps. Not weighing but can feel like I am losing. My body basically feels likes it's responded in my twenties to a calorie deficit. I think I have had insulin resistance for sure and this is really balancing it out and enabling me to lose. Hope everyone is doing ok and any side effects are minimal xx

Blondephantom · 11/08/2024 09:47

Glad you are feeling better this week, @trulybee . Hope you have a great week x

Second day after second jab. Got a very upset tummy, I think that it's my fault. I wasn't hungry but ate a small meal and was then very uncomfortable and unwell in the night. You live and learn! Will be listening to my body next time it says "I know it's dinner time but I don't fancy food"!

Season 2 Dancing GIF by The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Doing the pound down dance again today!!

Another 1lb off!

SW 15st 8lbs
CW 15st 2lbs

I feel like we should all do this dance for every pound! It will burn more calories too! 🤣

Onwards and downwards ladies!!

I had an upset tummy after a bad choice of pizza for dinner on Friday. I'm not going lie though, I was a bit grateful for the erm... help as I've been feeling a bit constipated. Although I didn't lose any weight the next day, I certainly felt a bit lighter and less bloated.

Peppermint tea certainly helped settle my stomach though.

Hope you feel better soon 💕

Peacelily001 · 11/08/2024 11:01

Wow.
First weigh in since starting MJ a week ago and 8lb/4kg down!
Very motivating, although it’ll probably be only a lb next week as this must be mostly water loss!

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 11/08/2024 11:05

Really really ready to start tomorrow now. Spent the weekends with friends and was constantly reminded that I'm the "other", the fat friend, one friend (very skinny) kept commenting that I was "doing well" on walks. I'm fat but I can still walk! Just want to start the journey now and it's making me impatient, but I know trying to travel with the pen would be more stress that it is worth

CremeDeSudo · 11/08/2024 11:08

I started on Wed and I'm already 3lb down! Absolutely over the moon with this because I genuinely didn't expect a big loss in the first week given I feel I already eat well etc.

How do we insert a Carlton dance?!

I had a smallish portion of spag bol at 5ish yesterday and definitely regretted it as it kept repeating on me and felt uncomfortable even after peppermint tea. I was also absolutely knackered yesterday afternoon onwards and didn't sleep as well as I have been up until now.

AuntieDote · 11/08/2024 11:28

Did my official weigh in after a week today, although kind of spoiled the reveal by sneaking a peek yesterday and the day before!

Anyway I’ve lost 6lbs in a week, which I’m thrilled with.

Last night was the first time I found myself thinking about what snacks I fancied in the evening for the first time since injecting, and when DH nipped out for milk as we realised
theres was none for the following morning, I was very tempted to tell him to get a bit of chocolate or something too. I stopped myself though, and only took the tiniest hint of willpower to do so. I feel really grateful and lucky the 2.5mg dose seems to have had such an effect on me as I know it could have gone either way. I really hope it continues - I’d like to stay on this dose as long as possible ideally.

SW 15st 2 lbs
CW 14st 10 lbs

Am sure it will slow down now, but a great motivation to get me started.

MissFancyDay · 11/08/2024 12:13

Well done everyone, great successes. I'm on day three of jab one. I felt hungry last night before bed and ate a small piece of cheesecake and a packet of crisps, I'm not going to shake old habits in three days.

Anyway I feel quite bad this morning, nausea and light headache. I don't know whether it's day three side effects or eating fatty food before bed. I'm going to eat better today, salad and chicken. Luckily I've got a few quiet days to really get the hang of eating to suit my new body state before I go away.

Usernamechangeforthis12 · 11/08/2024 12:18

Hey all, well done on all the losses.

Im day 7 today. So due my second jab tomorrow. Felt quite ill on day 3, and didn’t sleep well at first (but that may have been a bit of anxiety).

My scales are not calibrated correctly and are showing as +3lbs before getting on. I don’t know that they were last Monday, as didn’t notice.

SW - scales said 14.4
CW - including the random 3lbs - 13.10

Thrilled it’s going in the right direction, no idea how much weight I’m actually down, but new scales arriving tomorrow!!

WorriedRelative · 11/08/2024 12:30

I am also day 7 and due my second jab tomorrow. I will weigh again before I jab but for now I am 2.1kg down which I think is four and a half pounds. I am chuffed to bits with that!

WorriedRelative · 11/08/2024 12:32

Oh had heartburn again last night. I definitely need to buy some rennies!

Alwayshockey · 11/08/2024 12:40

I've weighed in this morning and I'm 1.4kg down for week 2, which gives me 4.3kg or about 9.5lbs for my first 2 weeks. I'm really pleased with that. 38kg to lose in total so I'm here for the long haul but so far no side effects and no food noise and I'm eating a good balanced diet with no processed food other than a couple of Nairns Oatcakes. I need to look at some labels for a sub as they contain palm oil and I'd like to drop that from my diet. But a couple of Oatcakes will be way less palm oil than my usual intake so not the worst thing if I keep them.

Potterson13 · 11/08/2024 12:56

Just done my 2nd jab.

I've lost 5lbs, 1.5inches off my waist and 1inch from both my hips and my thighs. Thrilled!

Princessandthepie · 11/08/2024 13:35

Well done on the losses everyone!!

I did Noom before and one of the things that stuck with me was not to reward weight loss with food.

And it's true isn't it? We've weighed in for the week at WW and SW, we've lost weight so we think ooo I can have some "treat food" and it's so counter productive!!

This is definitely a mindset I'm trying to break this time round too and this is the perfect chance because I don't actually want the sweet treat like I used to and it's so freeing.

Tell you what, I'm realising just how much I'd structured my life (and happiness, and avoidance issues) around food, with no regard to whether I was actually hungry or not :/ I'm away for work in a place which has a renowned ice-cream shop that I've always visited on previous trips. This time round, it's been a proper cognitive battle to peel apart my urge to go to the shop even though I am NOT HUNGRY. Not even to try a new flavour, but as a thing to do inbetween workshop sessions.

I think this is where my problem with the idea of intuitive eating is - it doesn't work if you eat emotionally, or if you distract yourself from the world by focusing on eating. I love food and love what can be done with food and what food means - but I have been massively overeating over the years, against any sense of hunger, as a way of flattening down my feelings.

I was the same 24 hours after my first injection. I swapped to peppermint tea as well as peppermint capsules throughout the week and that helped with the nausea.

It remains to be seen if I'm the same after my second injection, which I'm due on Thursday.

I'm on day 5 and I've got a little more appetite back but nowhere near what I had before, which is a very strange feeling. I've been inviting to a meal in a couple of weeks and I'm really quite concerned about it if I'm still feeling the same.

Thanks @WitchDancer. I have some peppermint tea capsules, I might try them. I hope that you manage to go out for your meal in a few weeks.

CremeDeSudo · 11/08/2024 14:49

@witchdancer I'm the same. I've got a food/drinks thing for a friend's birthday on the 31st. It'll be the first time I drink on MJ and haven't told the birthday girl I'm taking it! Bit concerned! I did toy with waiting to start til after, but then realised I could be a stone down by then and decided not to wait 😆

If you're close enough to be open with them I definitely would - I've told my three best friends as I know next time I see them I'll be totally different!
