Just started.

Would be great to hear from others who are just starting.

First injection was was 28th July. No side effects so far. Appetite is decreasing but not as much as I've seen on other threads.

4 stone at least to lose.

I'm going to use this thread to give myself an online record.

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease I did thigh and suppression is still fine on day 4 now

Potterson13 · 08/08/2024 18:48

Day 5 for me, food noise has come back a bit. Definitely eaten more today with less effort. Earlier in the week I was forcing food down me. I've had about 1500 calories today up from around 1000/1200 since I jabbed on Sunday. Trying to make sensible decisions though. Still had no side effects and pleased to report I actually managed to get to sleep last night 🤣

How do you find the symptoms?xx

Wingingit11 · 08/08/2024 18:58

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease had a bit of a headache the day after but fine otherwise

Me again with another question - I've seen a lot of people saying to inject into your stomach for suppression and into your thigh if you want less side effects. If you inject into your thigh do you not get the same suppression?

I did stomach on Sunday and my suppression is fine. I haven't had any side effects really. It's such a mixed bag, some people swear by stomach, some won't even go near it. There's no real way to know unless you try both and see what works best for you. It seems to vary so much.

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease should say I am noticing the suppression lifting today but I'm over halfway through the week so I was expecting that.

Ignore my other post, failed mention 🤦‍♀️

Thanks!

Obviously it's hard to tell before you actually take it if you're going to suffer side effects etc. just wary of the fact I'm away in two weeks and don't want to be ill for that

CremeDeSudo · 08/08/2024 21:08

@needsomeanswersplease

I did my stomach yesterday, haven't really had any side effects (touch wood) other than mild nausea. Haven't been hungry at all today!

Princessandthepie · 08/08/2024 21:14

I injected in my stomach and my side effects have been manageable.

I had breakfast this morning but no lunch but did feel hungry at around 5ish and was aiming for a 6.30 dinner today so I had some fruit to tide me over. Had dinner, can almost feel that indigestion feeling at the back of my throat so I'll make a peppermint tea.

sundaysunday2024 · 08/08/2024 21:15

Just done jab #2. I'm not due to inject until tomorrow morning but I'll find it difficult to find time in the morning without nosey kids wondering what I'm up to!

Definitely had less suppression the last 2 days, I'm on holiday next week so it'll be interesting to see what I feel like eating. I also want to cut down on alcohol, I've had a few drinks over this week and the only difference is that the alcohol is making my face flush more easily; a few sips and I'm bright red!

Addictedtobeauty · 08/08/2024 21:26

I jabbed in my stomach. There’s a lot more fat there for me so I reason it’s less likely to hurt. No idea about whether that influences uptake, side effects, longevity of effect etc.

NippyCrab · 08/08/2024 21:38

I jabbed my thigh and my only side effect that's bad for me is fatigue, I've had mild sleep interruptions too. I'm wary of doing my tummy in case I get additional symptoms with the fatigue arghh
I've had appetite suppression but it's more like the cravings have stopped shouting rather than not hungry at meal times.

I hate the alcohol flush! Sometimes it take effect after a sip or 2 and I look like a beetroot!

I'll take this as another reason to stay off the booze ✔️

And yes, my kids were very nosy when it came to the package I put in fridge!

I might do my second jab Friday night instead of Saturday morning as we have a day trip planned so would rather get it out the way peacefully rather than rushing and jostling the kids to get ready and out the door.

WorriedRelative · 09/08/2024 07:50

2.2kg down and it has been less than a week! Amazing!

NippyCrab · 09/08/2024 08:05

Brilliant @WorriedRelative 🥳 it's a great feeling. I'm 2lbs off this week started Monday on MJ but I've been trying to clean eat for a couple of weeks. It's exciting that we can do this!

Princessandthepie · 09/08/2024 08:19

@WorriedRelative well done! 🥳🎉

AuntieDote · 09/08/2024 08:20

I injected in my stomach, more flab there is the only reason, though my thighs are not insubstantial either!

I’ve had side effects, but very manageable. Felt out of it the first day, but as I said at the time I think I maybe had a bit of a virus/ bug anyway as I’d not been great all weekend, it’s hard to tell what was the MJ and what was that. Felt nauseous, thought of food turned my stomach and I felt really brain foggy and exhausted.

It was only one day, have had on and off headache, bloating and windy pains since - but all quite low level and manageable, nothing horrendous. I’m really tired by the evening and struggling to stay awake but that’s not a bad thing really, encouraging me to get some early nights instead of constantly scrolling!

Day 5 and I wasn’t going to weigh but couldn’t resist this morning and I’m 4lbs down. I’m back under 15 stone now which psychologically feels good - I was so distraught to go over that again after getting down to around 13 something last year, and despite trying to rectify it several times I was losing like half a pound then putting it back on the following week, not making any real headway. Am sure it’s just water but it’s still a great start to spur me on and get me motivated. There’s also the chance I could fit into some of my summer stuff by the time we go away in 2 weeks too! (Though it’s only within uk so may equally be needing jumpers and jeans by then!)

Especially great given my period started yesterday. Has anyone found mounjaro affected their periods (maybe not a question for newbie thread actually, I might ask on the main one). I’m having an absolute doozy, and it was a couple of days early. Again, I may possibly be peri and am trying HRT so could be that?

Blondephantom · 09/08/2024 08:39

I weighed this morning and I’m 3.5 lbs down after six days. Most of my side effects have been positive - appetite supressed, sleeping better, feeling positive, not fancying a glass of wine. I had the odd bit of nausea in the first couple of days but that was my body saying I needed food as it went away after a meal.

My plan for next week is to start adding in exercise sessions, keep going protein heavy, keep going with calorie counting and measuring fluids and just keep on going really.

Some people will be losing more than me and that is amazing. I am not going to let comparison be the thief of joy. I am thrilled to have finally started losing weight and to be feeling so fabulous.

Congratulations to everyone on your losses so far and best of luck with this next week.

trulybee · 09/08/2024 09:00

Congrats to everyone on their weight loss - that is amazing.

Today is Week 2 Day 1 for me and injected this morning.
I've not weighed myself as this is my intention for the first month maybe even two. I am going to trust the process that if I eat in a deficit, I will lose weight.
Feeling like I have lost though. Really regret not doing this sooner.

While 2.5mg is only a starter dose and I do get food noise, as the week progresses, it is manageable and if ONLY I could be like that without the need for Mounjaro. I swear, I always do in excess of10k steps aday, average about 15k. Prior to my Mum dying in April I was exercising 4-5 times a day fo around 45 minutes, eating in a deficit and weighing everything only to lose a couple of pounds, putting it back on again. I was starting to feel like I was on a hamster wheel of panicking about exercise, if I was too busy to do a workout, knowing that I would gain even if in a deficit. I don't think anyone understands this feeling unless they've experienced it. Also feeling afraid that if I continued to put weight on that any future health problems would be dismissed as being down to my weight. I have been in this situation since 2018.

I'm 47 in Peri with Underactive Thyroid and this week has made me even more convinced that hormones play a significant part in our ability to lose weight and indeed to put it on. I'm really hoping that the rise of drugs like Mounjaro will encourage more scientific research in this area. I actually feel like I have a chance to get me back.

Plan for next week - track calories and ensure 100g plus of protein a day.
3-4 weight sessions and aiming for 10k steps per day.
Making sure I get enough sleep
Water.
Remembering to take my supplements
Trust the process.

sundaysunday2024 · 09/08/2024 09:01

First weigh in after 1 week on MJ.......1 lb lost! 😂

I'm not too disheartened, I think the suppression had completely worn off yesterday and I ate all the things I'd avoid the rest of the week; pasta, bread, chocolate. Must be more careful next Thurs/Fri.

sundaysunday2024 · 09/08/2024 09:11

@trulybee Hormones are my problem. PCOS mainly but as I'm getting older I'm suspicious that my thyroid is struggling. I'm the past I'd managed to keep my weight under 11 stone but since becoming a lone parent and changing to a sedentary job I've lost control. No time to exercise anymore 😞 so calorie deficit is the only option. PCOS is closely linked to insulin resistance so I'm hoping it'll help my body process food better too.

Wingingit11 · 09/08/2024 09:19

Great work all. I was a bit disheartened when peeked on scales and looking like2lb on day 4 as you always read about massive losses but this is of course better than sitting on my bum with the scales not moving or probably going the opposite way!

CremeDeSudo · 09/08/2024 09:24

I'm a daily weigher, because I've seen that my weight fluctuates daily and what if the weekly weigh in coincides with one of the higher weight days!

First jab was Wed am and this morning I'm 0.9kg down 😁

trulybee · 09/08/2024 09:25

@sundaysunday2024 I had endometriosis and fibroids in my twenties, I had to have a laporoscopy to sort it out. They also told me my ovaries were 'mildly polycystic' but my other issues were worse so didn't taken much notice.
Definately have some hormonal issues at play. I just don't think it is helpful when you have these issues to be preached to about a healthy diet - I think we all know what a healthy diet and many of us eat very healthily but to no avail. I feel I probably need to eat very little to lose weight with my health issues to lose even a tiny bit of weight. However, my hunger wants me to eat more.
Honestly, just the small amount of suppression that Mounjaro has given me this week has given me mental relief. I can eat in a deficit and not feel like I want to eat my own arm.
