Just started.

Would be great to hear from others who are just starting.

First injection was was 28th July. No side effects so far. Appetite is decreasing but not as much as I've seen on other threads.

4 stone at least to lose.

I'm going to use this thread to give myself an online record.

I do really like the extra support with Voy though and can’t fault service/ responsiveness - argh what to do?!

For me the support is a big thing.

There's no point (in my mind) in spending all this money on something just to reverse it when you stop taking the medicine, that's why I've picked Voy

SettingsOptions · 06/08/2024 19:47

@AuntieDote what does Voy give you? Is that extra support worth the cost for you?

I have only made one order with Med Express. It took 6 days to arrive (today). Came with needles and a sharps bin. Other than that, there were no bells and whistles, but I am not expecting that from them. So I’m happy with the £115 price paid. I think it would need to be a significant amount of support that I would want to use, for me to spend significantly more

Wingingit11 · 06/08/2024 19:56

I have used Asda - I was approved within about 24 hours, able to collect from store and you can contact a dr via their portal. Lmk if you want a discount code I have to pass on (but would recommend anyway!)

Wallywobbles · 06/08/2024 20:14

I've spent some time today starting to put together a Mounjaro info page for Mumsnetters. It includes a weight loss tracker. Hopefully if I've done it right you can edit and add to it.

Day 4- first injection for me was Friday morning and I've been happy with the level of appetite suppression so far (and not much in the way of side effects). Still enjoying my usual food but feeling satisfied with smaller portion sizes.

Tonight though I'm feeling snacky!! Fairly sure the dose is starting to wear off so I'm looking forward to this Friday's dose to see if it works again. Will also be doing my first weigh in on Friday 🤞 Not sure what to expect, if anything!

Boudica70 · 06/08/2024 21:34

So I did my third 2.5 injection last night. Reasonable food suppression today but tried to eat a bit more than usual, as I'm worried I'm just not eating enough! Finding that having a protein shake is really helpful in the morning. Definitely not wanting to snack at all. Slight headache tonight, but no other ill effects after the third dose. Just ordered my 5ml pen from Zava and had it approved.

May I ask a question please ? I don't have much to lose ( maybe a stone and a half ) but have struggled with the same weight for years .

I would love to try these injections but I am worried so much joy will be gone from my life. I love food and wine .

Do you feel a sense of sadness that this is missing ? What about enjoying a meal out etc.? Thanks for any experience!

I'm sorry I can't answer your question with experience because I haven't injected my first dose. But for me it has gone way, way beyond worrying about missing food.

The joy of being thinner, being able to wear nice clothes, and keeping up with my younger Dh and Dc far outweighs the pleasure of food. I want to lose weight so badly I would probably cut off my tastebuds if it magically got rid of 5 stones 😁

In your case I probably would go for it because of the relatively short time it would take to lose it. It certainly is a step that needs a lot of weighing up pros and cons before making a decision.

Potterson13 · 07/08/2024 00:33

So I can't sleep. I thought it was coincidence but my first jab was Sunday and I haven't had a decent nights sleep since. This is coming from a burnt out mum who usually drops off easily by 9/9.30pm. I'm now sat in bed wide awake. Once I get to sleep it's fine but getting there is a huge issue at the minute!

MooFroo · 07/08/2024 01:36

Day 4 for me and all good so far

started on on Saturday pm, been eating well, weighing daily (when I remember!) so I can track through the month and not panic - not seen any difference on the scales yet but it will come!

Been eating way healthier, started swimming and walking last couple of weeks but definitely need to up my water so will work harder on that!

No side effects yet and not massively feeling appetite is suppressed - I still want to eat and no issues with finishing my plate yet!

start date - Saturday 3 August 2024
start weight - 89kg/196lbs/ 14.2stone
target weight - 60kg / 133lbs/ 9.6 stone

Wingingit11 · 07/08/2024 03:44

Im
already thinking about whether to order 5ml next or 2.5. Bit scared of 5 from reading around but I guess that’s what we are here for ….!

@Potterson13 me too! I fell asleep ok tonight but have now been awake a couple of hours!

NippyCrab · 07/08/2024 05:16

@Potterson13 @Usernamechangeforthis12 me too! The last 2 mornings I've been up at 4.30 but also just after midnight. I'm usually conked out with meds and always sleep all night. I'm currently having a ginger tea. My eyes feel dry and tacky, and I've got a lumpy throat. X

CremeDeSudo · 07/08/2024 07:56

Ok, today's the day. I've weighed (and not at all happy about being over 14st), measured, logged in the Nutracheck app.

I'm going to have my usual breakfast, then psyche myself up to do it. I'm nervous. I suspect I'll sit there for ages not able to do it before I manage it 😬

DitzyDoes · 07/08/2024 08:07

Day 2. Yesterday was awful as I had no appetite at all due to feeling nauseous, I had jelly legs, headache, bloated and constipated. However, slept well (gin and tonic may have helped with this!!!). Woke up a little peckish and managed two cream crackers but I feel a lot better. I do wish I had started at a weekend as it was hard working yesterday but hopefully I will continue to feel better (and eat at least something!)

I was very nervous about the first jab and getting the instructions wrong. In fact it was rather easy and I've had no side effects. I used my thigh for the first one.

Don't worry. It's much easier than it looks

Good luck @CremeDeSudo ! I felt the same and put it off for 2 days - honestly nothing to worry about.
just read through your instructions and go for it - needle doesn’t hurt at all and it was all done in a second

Another one here and just linked it to MJ after seeing your post?
today is day 5 for me and have had rubbish sleep since day 1 - sleep not great anyway but hadn’t even thought of it being due to the jab

hope it doesn’t carry on like this!

I have around the same as you to lose. Ideally my goal is a 2 stone loss. You just don’t feel like eating or drinking on the injections (well I don’t), we went out last night and I could own manage a prawn starter and a sparking water. It a very odd feeling and I have absolutely no sadness at seeing my weight drop.

TinaTotal · 07/08/2024 09:00

Hey everyone, I finally received my pen on Monday morning and injected about 3pm.

First night felt weird, I think I was waiting for side effects to kick in. Didn't sleep very well. Weighed myself in the morning and was down half a pound . (Just normal fluctuation)

Yesterday I didn't fancy breakfast and had a busy day at work, got home at 4pm and realised I hadn't eaten anything at all, all day. So I forced a piece of toast and a yogurt down. Then I had a much smaller portion of dinner (had to cook for rest of family or probably wouldn't have bothered) and I didn't even finish that.

I did drink 2 glasses of wine in the evening though . I was really hoping that I wouldn't want to drink wine or that it would taste awful but I still wanted and enjoyed it. Hoping that will change.

Slept ok last night, probably the wine.
Weighed myself this morning and have lost a total of 3lbs.

Not noticed any side effects like nausea, bloating or gas. I do feel slightly strange though, perhaps anxiety?

HettieBettyBoo · 07/08/2024 09:19

Day 5

I weighed this morning and can’t believe I’m 6lbs down!! I don’t expect this type of loss every week but it’s made me so happy.

Things I’ve noticed the last few days;-

Anything sweet doesn’t taste as nice, I used to drink 2/3 cans Pepsi Max or Diet Coke a day and I can’t stomach them now, they leave a really odd taste in my mouth. I tried switching to elderflower cordial and that was worse so I’ve decided water is the way forward. I’ve bought myself a fancy cup to make sure I’m drinking enough every day.

I’m not as bloated and have been weeing much more than usual which I suspect is the amount of water I’m drinking and/or water loss with it being the first week.

I feel so much more energised after the tiredness of the first few 2 days. I’m not sure if this is because I’m not eating junk or the vitamins I’m taking. Whatever it is I’m liking it.

AuntieDote · 07/08/2024 09:59

Day 3.

Yesterday the bloated/ windy feeling remained all day, and by the afternoon I had a persistent dull headache. Then by evening I was so shattered I fell asleep on the sofa at about 7pm, once I made it to bed though I actually slept better than I have for quite a while.

Woke up this morning feeling quite energised which was a nice change! Had a poo which was a struggle but felt lots better after (sorry!!) - I’ve ordered some phyllium husk to see if that helps.

I’ve not eaten anything yet and don’t feel the urge to/ don’t feel hungry particularly. Yesterday I ate no breakfast but a fairly normal lunch (some lean ham, salad, small piece of homemade sourdough) and dinner (fishcake, 3 small baby potatoes, salad again, some yoghurt and strawberries after). I didn’t struggle to eat them, and probably could have eaten more but it was no hardship to stop or to resist snacking.

I don’t think the food noise is totally stopped, but it does feel a lot easier to tune it out. I do wonder if this is just my usual enthusiasm for anything new! There’s also a voice in my head saying you’ve spent a bloody fortune on this so you need to make it work!

I’m weeing a lot too, I do feel thirsty all the time so drinking much more water/ mint tea. I’ve gone off normal tea a bit, just don’t fancy it.

Done! Really not that bad. Bit paranoid about injecting air into myself or something stupid, but I think I'm OK 🤞 now we wait... 😬

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 07/08/2024 10:11

Just had my email from Voy, I've been accepted!!!

Getting a train to go away tomorrow so doubt I'll be able to start until Monday now, as I just realised that if I start on Sunday I'll have to take it on holiday with me and I'm not sure I feel comfortable taking it away with my dad around - I don't feel the need to hide it from him but I'm also cautious it might be upsetting to him

Well done! I think the thought of it was much worse than the reality!
