Just started.

Would be great to hear from others who are just starting.

First injection was was 28th July. No side effects so far. Appetite is decreasing but not as much as I've seen on other threads.

4 stone at least to lose.

I'm going to use this thread to give myself an online record.

Hi all, I’d like to join please. Just took my first ever dose earlier today. Was easier to do so than I thought. Currently haven’t noticed much as I’ve been so distracted with work. I guess I’m a bit thirsty, which is unusual for me as I don’t tend to drink enough water as I never feel thirsty…

WitchDancer · 06/08/2024 15:33

Mine has come and I was dithering when to do it. DH said to do it now because we're on annual leave this week and if I do have any side effects I could rest.

So I did. I was really bricking injecting myself and had visions of having to ask him to do it, but it was surprisingly painless apart from a tiny scratch. It has bled more than I thought but I think it's ok.

Now we wait to see what happens!

SettingsOptions · 06/08/2024 15:41

@WitchDancer same! I was really worried about self injection. I have never injected anyone before nor do I get injections often myself. So it was a whole new world!

The only experience I’ve really had with needles recently lancing spots lol! Tbh looking back, it was less painful to inject MJ today than it has ever been to sort out pimples. Mine didn’t bleed and didn’t hurt.

The initial pass through was a bit sharp but it surprisingly didn’t hurt to hold it in place whilst administering it.

@Addictedtobeauty had to be in tight clothing - I'm at work in a loose dress so had to strip off in the toilets!

Oh no, how mortifying. I think that everyone here can relate to exactly how you felt Flowers

I was on standby to do some injections for my mum but never had to. I think it's worse on yourself cos you know when it's going to happen Grin

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 06/08/2024 15:47

@WitchDancer yeah it wasn't fun but it's a good reminder of why I'm doing this, and it'll be a good progress photo

SettingsOptions · 06/08/2024 15:56

@WitchDancer yep exactly! I just whipped it out the fridge and went for it, I think if I pencilled it for a proper slot, I’d freak out! lol

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease just read your posts. Completely get what you mean about the photo being a realisation. I felt the same when I had to send photos in. The only time anyone else will be seeing them is if I lose weight as part of a before/after lol, otherwise all traces of those photos will be forever gone

HettieBettyBoo · 06/08/2024 16:04

Day 4 here, I’m feeling ok and still no food noise. I had a protein shake this morning as I don’t really eat in the morning, an Arbroath smokie and salad for lunch and we’re having pork loin and green veg for dinner. I had to force myself to finish lunch but I’m determined to make sure I’m eating enough. I’ve upped my water intake today too. I don’t feel as bloated today and the headache has completely gone now.

WitchDancer · 06/08/2024 16:04

@SettingsOptions hopefully your before picture isn't the half naked one....

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 06/08/2024 16:23

I have just bought a really nice journal to keep a little diary of my journey. Hoping it's really nice and positive

lol! I was half-naked but in gym attire, so I can probably get away with it! The photos are horrendous though.

What a good idea!

WitchDancer · 06/08/2024 16:33

I don't have many photos of me at all - I'm the one behind the camera always! The few that I have got are definitely cringeworthy though

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 06/08/2024 16:35

The goal is to keep a measure of my physical measurements (because god knows the scales never cooperate with me when I'm trying to lose weight) and keep a diary of what motivates me and what doesn't

Johaanah · 06/08/2024 17:42

Hey everyone!

I'm on week three of 2.5, just took my third shot this morning, lost 6lbs in my first week then only 1lb last week.

My starting weight was 11st 7.5 and I'm aiming to get to around 58kgs, which is just above the weight that my PT recommend. I do have PCOS, pre diabetes and insulin resistance - so I'm hoping that shifting these extra pounds will help.

I've had no side effects at all really, other than tiredness but I'm usually feeling worn out anyway, I have really struggled to eat in the evenings, most days I can barely make it to 800 cals. I have very little appetite and even when I do eat I get this feeling of being completely full, like I couldn't possibly eat another bite.

I'm training in the gym 5 days out of 7 and trying to focus on lifting weights over cardio, as I'm aware of muscle loss. But I've been doing this for the past few years now so making time for the gym is just something that I plan into my weekly schedule.

My usual supplements are, biotin, collagen, vitamin D, magnesium, psyllium husk and I also have an electrolyte drink in the morning- I don't really like the taste so I add it to weak squash and it does the job of masking the flavour.

Initially I ordered a double pack of pens from Zava , one 2.5 and one 5.0 but I'm not sure I'll need to go up to the 5mg so soon, I'm considering buying another 2.5 but not sure where to go, ideally I'd like to find a supplier that will offer a maintenance dose as I've heard that some people with a BMI less than 30 are being rejected when they try to place a new order.

Good luck to anyone just starting out - honestly don't worry about injecting yourself it honestly doesn't hurt and is quite straightforward. Smile

MrsHerbs79 · 06/08/2024 18:34

@Addictedtobeauty i would have point blank refused!! I went through EMed and you have a weekly check in that they video your scales but not you xxx

FoodieToo · 06/08/2024 18:48

May I ask a question please ? I don't have much to lose ( maybe a stone and a half ) but have struggled with the same weight for years .

I would love to try these injections but I am worried so much joy will be gone from my life. I love food and wine .

Do you feel a sense of sadness that this is missing ? What about enjoying a meal out etc.? Thanks for any experience!

lookathatbookcase · 06/08/2024 18:59

@FoodieToo I'm only 2 days in but my experience has been that you'll still enjoy food - you just won't be enormously hungry for it, and your portion size will be extremely reduced. So - if you go to a nice restaurant and look at the menu beforehand, you won't have that embodied feeling of 'oh I bet that scallop dish will be so delicious', but when you go to the restaurant and order the scallop dish, it will be delicious and you'll enjoy it (in a smaller portion size).

Interesting and reassuring , thank you !

I got my 12 year old son to take my photo, he didn't know why I was doing it apart from that I needed to look as fat as possible. Boys being boys he wasn't interested in why I needed a fat photo. I was wearing leggings and a vest top. I'm borderline at 30.2 BMI and was worried that I wouldn't be accepted so I said to him 'I'm going to puff my stomach out to make myself look really fat!'. He took it and said 'Well done Mum! You look really fat in that one!'. He wasn't saying it nastily either 😂
Anyway, I clearly did look fat as I got approved!

trulybee · 06/08/2024 19:25

@FoodieToo What is your BMI as you mention that you only have a stone and a half to lose? You need to be a minimum of 30 to get approved.

FoodieToo · 06/08/2024 19:30

It's 28 . I don't think I would get it really . But I am having similar struggles as in I just can't keep BMI under 25 ....

SettingsOptions · 06/08/2024 19:30

@trulybee yeah I tried to look extra fat in my photo too. I hide my weight gain well. Whether that’s through good posture, flattering clothes, good angles etc.

so in a way I was just presenting to them what I accurately look like!

Im debating going to a different provider already! I’m just looking at the price for the next one when Voy and it seems really high compared to price from other pharmacies. I used a discount code for my first pen but to be honest it was still a big old chunk of my disposable income (or at least the amount of it I’m happy to spend on me rather than DC/ various other priorities we have right now). Next month without a discount code just seems a bit steep.

Anyone not using Voy can recommend a provider?
