theoretically- how dodgy is it go over the 30 days use of the pen?

I suppose the answer to that is nobody knows, really.
A couple of days, probably okay?
But I imagine it deteriorates.

Having said that - it may not.
Maybe they're just being cautious because it's so new.

And (cynically) maybe they don't want to encourage people to get 8 doses of 2.5mg from a 5mg pen. They would make less money................

It is one that my risk adverse head says shouldn't be broken, but my frugal/eco-head is saying it is such a waste (I am doing 3.75mg from a 5mg pen so there is 6th dose in there I could use).

I have seen posts on facebook citing MedExpress saying 6 weeks when asked, but it is not on their website or clear if they or the poster is getting confused with Weygovy or Oz which is 6 weeks. MedExpress also say you can restart on same dose after a 2 month gap, where others say only 2 weeks!

There was a facebook post yesterday where a pharmacist from another pharmacy was going to ask Lilly about the gap and I jumped in and asked why MedExpress were also saying discard after 6 weeks from first use and she said she will also ask Lilly.

I would image Lilly will reply with 30 days.

If anyone uses MedExpress it would be great to hear their reasoning behind the 6 weeks they are quoted as saying?

@Callmejudith I am going to admit to a 35 day pen😁 I used some of my 5mg to top up the bonus dose from the 2.5 and then took the 4 official doses and then had 0.6ml left for a bonus dose from that pen.

So realistically, it was 'open' for 35 days and 6 'doses'. The last worked as well as the first and I am still here to tell the tale. Not sure I want to push it much further than that without explicit say so from Lilly though 😬

Callmejudith · 31/08/2024 17:40

That’s super helpful! I’m a cynic about this stuff and think they put 30 days to save money but obviously have no clue really. I might just keep it in the fridge and go a lite
bit over

It's to do with the introduction of bacteria rather than whether the drug still works. (I'm not telling you not to do it!)

oh that makes sense! Especially as you’re likely to be breaking the seal on the pen more often

This is what I read and then read stuff saying it was crap 🤷‍♀️

Trying to be a critical reader of what is out there but blimey it's rough when there are so many armchair experts! 😂

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 31/08/2024 18:30

Weird one here - what do you do on an evening on holiday when you do not want to eat or drink?

Am on my own and just can't see the point in going anywhere but also don't really want to sit on my balcony all evening 🤷‍♀️

TheShellBeach · 31/08/2024 18:33

Diabetics on insulin use the same vial of it over and over again. Four times a day until the vial is empty.
I do not think that jabbing a rubber bung with a sterile needle introduces bacteria into the vial.

I'm starting to lean more towards the theory that the manufacturers want to make more money!

I've been using my current 5mg pen since 22nd July so far, and no adverse effects other than a random itchy spot at my last jab. Got the bonus dose to go on Tuesday so that will be 42 days. I have kept it in the fridge and been religious about wiping down surfaces before I put it down, washing hands etc.

@Callmejudith hmmm, not really unless I shop😂 Could go and sit with my friend on her silver stall but already bought 2 rings this morning as my old ones are too big! 😁
Remembered I had a copy of Murdle so am in the bar with a bottle of water and am solving a murder👍👍

TheShellBeach · 31/08/2024 19:39

Ha!
All my rings are too big now.

My lovely friend has said she'll resize them all for me but sadly, all of my jewellery is in a dish in the kitchen at home as I forgot everything! 😩🤦‍♀️

If I am travelling on my own I often go to somewhere with a good view, or good people watching opportunities and take a book. Buy something, alcoholic or non alcoholic as I prefer and some olives or nuts or whatever and just sit and watch the world go by/read. Whatever takes my fancy really.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 31/08/2024 20:06

@Ineffable23 me too. Did this last night and a waiter wanted to chat and buy me wine so ended up going to bed at 1am somewhat sozzled 😂

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 31/08/2024 20:07

Am 57 and 5 stone overweight so was NOT a pick up attempt! 🤦‍♀️

Hah I can see why you wanted to avoid that tonight! Murdle sounds like a good option!

WheresSummer99 · 01/09/2024 09:22

Just ordered a new running top from Amazon and it kept saying based on your data we think you need a XXL size and I put a L in my basket but actually hovered over the M size.. slightly annoying I bought a new run top in June but it’s just huge and baggy now so I’m treating myself.

Anyone else’s boobs just deflating? Mine were G-H cup before and the smallest they even been is a F cup but they are shrinking fast. I’m early 50s so not bothered it’s just odd. Prior to MJ I was considering a boob reduction as they were impacting me but this has been cheaper!

Yes to all of that.
Amazon keeps telling me to get XXL in everything.
And I've gone down a lot of bra sizes since January.

Callmejudith · 01/09/2024 13:43

I wish there was something on Amazon where you could say "well actually I'm not" LOL

Out for DH birthday lunch today and the jab has kicked in. Have forced down some yog and fruit this morning.

I know, the bastards!

I want to be able to tell them I'm a size M now and they can fuck right off with their XXL recommendations and insinuations that I'm fat.

Morning all

Haven't posted in a while. I had over a week with no loss at the beginning of 7.5 & then we had family visiting from another country & I didn't jab until they left as I didn't want them to know & I put on some weight. I was 13st 13 on 2nd August then after family left I was 14st 2. Was so cross with myself for not being more careful. We had a lot of days out, a lot of eating g out and takeaways and wine. Finally jabbed after they left last Monday the 26th and I'm just under 13st 7 this morning. I've been so good this week and can't wait to jab today & get back on the journey. I wore my size 14 jeans all day yesterday and so many people told me how amazing I looked as they hadn't seen me for a few months. It's really made me feel more positive going forward. I'm coming for you 13stone!! That's my next target.

SW 15st 6 June 1st
CW 13st 7 Sept 2

Another pound and I will be 2 stone down since June. So so happy today.

Goodluck to everyone this week. This month has been a crappy one for me. Got paid really late so couldn't get my pen till a week later and like I said two weeks of family and days out too much food and wine and yet end of the month and I've made up for it. Looking forward to what September brings and also getting the treadmill back out as kids going back to school can do my lunchtime runs again. Someone mentioned Christmas yesterday and I thought omg I could be a size 14/16 comfortably by then if I keep up all the good work. 🥳
