Checking in on the new thread 😀

Panick · 28/07/2024 18:26

Thanks for new thread. I too have noticed that my knickers are getting baggy, so title works for me! However, whilst I am losing weight I am struggling on 5mg. The last week and a half I have been almost permanently slightly nauseous with awful heartburn, with constipation too 😣I feel quite unpleasant. I am taking omeprazole and rennies for the tummy symptoms, and psyllium husk for the other end, but my stomach still feels permanently unhappy. Is it worth going back down to 3.75? Can anyone recommend anything I can take to ease the symptoms? Or do I just need to grin and bear it for the greater good?

That thread's making my blood boil too!
The usual rubbish: we should eat less, diabetics can't get their insulin, Ozempic face, we'll all pile the weight on when we stop and we'll all get cancer as no one knows the long term affect of this new drug.

Don't know why I read these threads, it's always the same.

we'll all pile the weight on when we stop

As if we haven't thought about that ourselves! We know MJ isn't a magic cure and the hard bit is when we come out the other side.

I have A LOT to lose and this is probably a year long journey for me, we are all new to this, but I hope once we start getting there we create "maintenance" threads to check in with each other once in a while to keep tabs on progress and continue to support share tips with each other on how we are managing to maintain!

Snozzlemaid · 28/07/2024 18:34

I know. I had about 8 stone to lose when I started. I've put this on over 25 years, so even if I do gain when I stop I'm not getting back to this size any time soon.
I'm hoping can continue the good habits I'm now building. And I now know exactly what food I need to survive on and lose weight. Before I would never have thought I could live on so little.
Would love maintenance doses to be agreed by then so if I go up I can use it again to lose and go back to healthy weight before it gets out of hand again.

Batlady78 · 28/07/2024 18:34

I've just got my 7.5 pen out for the first dose - it wouldn't prime, and I couldn't inject it! Luckily I've got some extra syringes from Amazon so I could use one of those, but I'd be panicking otherwise!

Snozzlemaid · 28/07/2024 18:37

It could be the needle. If it's bent a little it won't work.
Maybe try another needle next time.

Ah ok, didn't think of that! Thank you Smile

Checking in with my baggy pants!

JessicaPeach · 28/07/2024 19:05

What is really horrible about that thread is how some posters are clearly unable to hide how disgusted they are by us lazy, greedy, fat people. Really makes you think about the people you know in real life doesn't it.

WeAllHaveWings · 28/07/2024 19:41

I might have just blown off some steam on "that" thread 🙈

I am missing my wine! (just haven't felt like it for the last 6 weeks and worried about the side effects!)

Callmejudith · 28/07/2024 19:50

Please could someone PM me a link to that thread?

Oh my! I would too. Is it a faulty pen?

It really does. Just because they have been blessed with fortunate hormones. They think its their good grace and gives them a sense of superiority.
It is infuriating.

Megarea · 28/07/2024 20:03

@FilthyforFirth I've had a couple of weeks of minimal loss and then a week and a bit where it's fallen off again so don't worry if it's slowed up a bit, it'll balance out over time though I agree with @WeAllHaveWings if you're not getting the suppression you may want to think about going up.
I'm doing a second month at 5mg to let it bed in before thinking of moving up again.

Quote of the thread - someone has just told me "But you aren’t going to die imminently and potentially not at all."

Ignore the name changing. Was too wound up to remember to change it!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 28/07/2024 20:10

@WeAllHaveWings I was cheering when I read your 'steam'! 😁👍

It's the complete lack of knowledge and understanding that gets me. There's even someone in there who says they are a doctor and who is saying the meds are the way forward for obesity control and yet people are disagreeing and ranting about 'laziness' and 'lifestyle choices'. Clueless!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 28/07/2024 20:13

@Batlady78 my 5mg pen wouldn't prime either! I tried 3 times with one needle and decided it must be faulty so put on another and it still didn't work so went for it anyway. Must have gone in as the liquid in the pen went down and wasn't spilled all over my stomach! 😂

I then wondered if it was because I had drawn a little from it to top up my bonus dose and messed with the levels or something🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Who knows!

Well that's a fucking relief isn't it?!?!

WeAllHaveWings · 28/07/2024 20:23

@IReallyNeedThisToWork 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Never read it that way!

"Not at all" what ever?? I'll need to quit the MJ and start putting the money into my pension instead!

Ineffable23 · 28/07/2024 21:15

Congratulations on the many victories: baggy pants, smaller pants, pre-menopause weights and size 10s - we have got the lot!

My major weight gain was over COVID and I am now back to my pre-COVID weight and am 2.5 stone down from my maximum weight (about half done pre-MJ and half using MJ). Still got just north of a stone to go until a healthy BMI but really feeling like it is possible now.

I honestly don't care if it's the easy way out - it's a long term risk to my health and if there's an easier way to reduce my health risk then sure as hell I am going to take it. We don't go round castigating people for doing a form of exercise they like rather than one they hate just because it's "easier" if you like doing the exercise. We don't tell people they should take a harder job instead of an easier one if they both fund your lifestyle and are suitably fulfilling. There is almost no other area where taking an "easier" route isn't seen as a sensible and suitable option, except maybe mountaineering. And if you are on a mountain and need to get down still no one would tell you it was "better" to take the more difficult route when the more difficult route risks your health.

#Rant over, sorry#

Newme24 · 28/07/2024 22:31

Loving the baggy pants thread title. I was running down a hill earlier to meet someone with a lovely summer dress on and nearly lost my knickers as seems most my weight has come off my big bum!

SuperSange · 28/07/2024 22:37

I've just done my last 7.5 injection on Friday, but there's quite a bit left in the pen. Is it a spare dose or something? I've not seen it before for me, thigh others have mentioned it. It it like a free week?

TheShellBeach · 28/07/2024 22:54

I then wondered if it was because I had drawn a little from it to top up my bonus dose and messed with the levels or something

Yes, this would be why.

When I took a little out to top up a dose, I used an insulin syringe to withdraw the next (and final) dose.

littlefireseverywhere · 28/07/2024 14:11

I’ll join you only in my first week but really hoping for baggy pants and bras!!

Welcome! Great support on these threads 😊

SarahB88 · 29/07/2024 07:34

Only a 0.6kg loss for me on my first week of 5mg so I’m a bit disappointed but I’ve probably not exercised as much as I normally would in that week. I’ve also over eaten a couple of times to the point that I felt really sick so that needs to stop!

SW: 106.5kg
CW: 100.9kg

I was really hoping to get under 100kg this week but I’ll just give it another go this week.

Thankfully don’t seem to be having any side effects from the 5mg. I think I’ll move on to 7.5mg after this pen.
