Have lost over 3 stone now and about 20 lbs or so from goal

All on 2.5mg. I've chosen not to titrate up

@MartyFunkhouser ha thanks. I do have to say that that first pic is astonishingly bad. I have no idea how the gym managed to get such a shocking one , truly astonishing! The below is probably a more 'truthful' one - so I don't think that a loss of nearly 3 and a half stone has had the highest impact on my face.

And one from the front - always useful.

The outfit btw is just me trialling OTT sequins for a Taylor Swift concert in a couple of weeks time. I don't pop to the shops like this! And the jury is out on the crop top due to scars etc but meh.

Sorry for all the questions. It sounds like you weren't feeling terribly well before you started.

So it's done you good in a way that perhaps we don't have an explanation for?

Did you feel better quite quickly? I can't help thinking it might be the weight loss and the exercise that made you feel better?

I am dieting and slowly losing weight but I feel very tired.

Ironically I have cut back on my exercise due to feeling tired but I think I'm getting over that as my body adjust to reduced food intake.

However I am terrified of the side-effects of any med.

And even if it did work for me I wouldn't want to stay on it for a long time.

In the best case scenario if I had no side-effects and lost weight - I wouldn't then want to have to go back on it.

It's so confusing.

And obviously very very expensive.

I'm not clear what's available from my doctor, but I am pretty confident they would give me something.

For newbies, there is good introductory info on the first post here:

SuperBatFace · 08/07/2024 19:25

@EmeraldRoulette your doctor won't prescribe unfortunately. It is not available on the NHS unless you meet some extremely strict criteria and you're in an area of the country that are able to prescribe. So private is the way forward

I wasn't unwell before I started? I was fine. What I was - as I still am - is peri menopausal and that was tough and lead to me not feeling my best.

Yes - the exercise and healthy eating has been key. I only take a small amount of MJ and I don't intend to stay on it for longer than I have to.

But although the exercise etc has been the key / it's the MJ that's made it happen. It's hard to explain really but it just aids you in being able to make the better choice. It's something you work with - and when you do that, results happen. It isn't something you inject and then sit back and expect 10 lbs to disappear. But using it as a tool, results will follow

@EmeraldRoulette and to explain further, I took the first injection and then the next day I considered going back to Spin - something I'd not done for 8 years or so. So I thought I'd give it a go. And then, I went back the next day. And then - I fell into going every other day and I'm now on holy and going 3 times a week

First time - awful. Couldn't keep up. Now - absolutely fine and I feel quite strong when doing it.

So something in this injection helped me to make that choice. Same with food.

I've never had what I'd recognise as real food suppression, I could eat through it if I wanted to. But the constant voice telling me to eat 6 dairy milk bars has shut up so that's something!

SuperBatFace · 08/07/2024 19:29

@CeruleanDive thanks! That sums it up well

EmeraldRoulette · 08/07/2024 19:34

Ah....you said in your second post you were feeling "better" so I thought maybe your original weight was giving you health issues.

I can't help thinking mine will eventually, but I was feeling fine until I started eating less.

It does seem as if even experts have trouble explaining how exactly this works. For me if I can make better choices without taking the medication that's great.

But I have really struggled with my normal exercise routine on a reduced food intake. I don't have a voice telling me to eat tons of chocolate but I think long-term medication has done me no favours weight wise.

Sorry if it seems I am massively overthinking this. It would have been an easy decision to make, but I was on medication for mental health for decades. And now I'm not on anything, it was so nice to be free of doctor visits.

Reading the threads on here is very interesting.

Some people are losing us slowly as I am without taking any medication. Some people are saying they aren't losing weight at all, and some people are having problematic side-effects.

SuperBatFace · 08/07/2024 19:45

''Some people are losing us slowly as I am without taking any medication. Some people are saying they aren't losing weight at all, and some people are having problematic side-effects. ''

What you say - copied and pasted above - is very true. And you'll fall into one of the categories. However - most people do lose on MJ. Not all - but most.

Only you can make the decision and it's wise to read up as much as you can about it first.

Seriously impressive.

SuperBatFace · 07/07/2024 19:57

@moun82 started at a bmi of 36.7 and currently at 28.3

I am short ish though - 5 ft 3 and a bit, so extra pounds really do show on me. My starting weight was 14 stone 12 which is just far far too much for my frame and I'm currently 11 stone 9

I'd like to be 10 stone 4 and see how that looks and feels. I do want to be a normal weight bmi but my focus is more on being strong, healthy and not being fat basically

Congrats! I'm a similar height and started on Ozempic last year and knocked off 4 stone in 13 months without going above 0.85 - gone from just over 13 stone to just over 9 stone and have been maintaining around there for last 3-4 months. I can cross my legs properly and everything!

MadameMassiveSalad · 08/07/2024 21:58

Did you get it from your Dr op?

MadameMassiveSalad · 08/07/2024 21:59

Can you come off it when you reach the weight you want to be?

SuperBatFace · 08/07/2024 22:04

@MadameMassiveSalad no, it's not really possible to get it from the NHS. Yes there's a couple who do but it's very rare - NHS can't afford it and don't really prescribe it and you'd have to have co-morbidities and/or be on a high tier of weight management plan which takes years for them even to consider it. And even then, it probably wouldn't be MJ you'd get

I pay £149 a month with MedExpress who send relatively quickly and are pretty much fuss free

I also plan to only be on it 6 months maximum. I had 5 stone to lose give or take and I knew I couldn't do this in less than 6 months. I've now got about a stone and a half to lose and I'm in month 4 so I'm hopeful that I'll be stopping in September ish

OP posts:
SuperBatFace · 08/07/2024 22:05

@MadameMassiveSalad and yep. No need to 'wean yourself off' or anything. MedExpress for example will cut you off when your BMI reaches 25.

In the states, where it has been in use for much longer, they'll prescribe a maintenance dose for life in some cases

@TheWayOfTheWorld I'm laughing at you saying you can cross your legs now.
When I put on weight very quickly over lockdown I noticed that was something I really struggled with. I'm looking forward to being a proper leg crosser again.

SuperBatFace · 09/07/2024 22:44

@moun82 I'm not sure I'm a leg crosser but I think I want to be now!

@LadyCrumpet oof the dreaded ozempic face! No my face is better. Now i can't show you my entire face of course but I'll scribble out a few bits so you can let me know if I've got the dreaded O face!

I'm 52 btw so not in first flush of youth so take that into account!

You look fab!

This sounds like me.
I was on HRT but it made me feel huge and was sick of trying out different brands, amounts.

I'm just really wanting to lose the extra 3st I'm carrying around and increase my exercise

I feel like that would be a better point to consider if I want to go back on HRT.

You really look amazing op. Well done 👏

I like the idea of taking it until I reach target weight then maintaining without drugs.

It looks like mounjaro might be most effective.

Why did you chose it op?

typicaltuesdaynight · 10/07/2024 15:26

Did you get it on the nhs? I've just goggled it and said not available in Scotland unless you have type 2 diabetes ? My pharmacy offers something called saxenda , is it the same thing? I can't lose weight at all
I'm almost 50
Perimenopausal my bmi is 35,6 I have joint problems and a fuzzy Brain

typicaltuesdaynight · 10/07/2024 15:30

You look
Amazing by the way op, I'm
In a vicious circle really at the moment I want to exercise but I have osteoarthritis in my knees and obviously being over weight isn't helping . I like exercises and eating healthy but since mid 40's I can't shed a pound
