Really happy today. 1.1kg off which takes me to very nearly 25kg in total, started at 120kg and 19 weeks later I'm 95.2kg.

That's nearly 4 stone in total and I've just edged into the 14s. BMI is 35 now, it was 44.

The only downside is I've finally been hit by the dreaded constipation. Taking tablets for that so hopefully it will resolve. About to take my first 10mg dose, not entirely sure how that's going to go. If it's dreadful I'll drop back down again.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 22/07/2024 12:22

@KeepingUndercover well done! That’s a brilliant loss and wonderful long-term progress.

I did my first dose of 10mg last night. This morning the fatigue that I experienced with my first pen is back and I feel very tired. Very high suppression but thankfully no nausea so far. I had a bonus dose from my 7.5mg last week and I’m not sure if either my body had adjusted or if it wasn’t quite a full dose but the suppression was noticeably lighter in the second half of the week.

A nice NSV just now - I ordered some
loose beach trousers in the sales for my forthcoming holiday and have just tried them on. I held them up out of the packet and thought ‘no way will these be big enough, they’re far too narrow’ but lo and behold, they’re a perfect fit!

OP posts:
KeepingUndercover · 22/07/2024 12:24

Oh I love it when that happens @VelociraptorsVelociRapping, it's always a boost when something you think won't fit does.

RobinEllacotStrike · 23/07/2024 22:58

Hi - just had my first 2.5ml dose of Monjaro. Surprisingly I didn't even feel the shot.

I'm 122kilos / BMI is 40.8.

If I could lose 30 kilos I'd be 92kilos and very happy, though I am probably a better weight at 82 kilos - honestly I have no idea these days, I've been fat for so long.

I have ankle and knee injuries exaserbated by being too heavy - my main goal is to reduce weight to improve mobility. I'm also very unfit after struggling with an ankle injury for over a year which mean I've been a lot less active than usual.

Feeling a bit unprepared but here we go!

CrazyKats · 24/07/2024 08:20

Two weeks since I started. About to do my third 2.5 dose. I've lost 3.5 kg in two weeks, which is just over half a stone. I've got my 5mg pen ready - have seen some people have titrated up with 3.5mg. any idea how I would work that out? Very bizarre to have barely felt hunger in the past two weeks. Reminds me of being young and existing on air 🤣

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 24/07/2024 08:23

Second weigh in and only lost 0.7kg this week. Caught between feeling deflated its not falling off like it does for others, but also still relatively happy as I'd hardly felt any suppression this week (and eaten badly because of it!).

Has anyone gone from 2.5mg to 5mg sooner than after 4 weeks?

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 24/07/2024 08:24

Welcome new posters!

@CrazyKats on the long-running threads on this board people have posted charts to help you count clicks for in-between doses.

RagzRebooted · 24/07/2024 09:34

I'm past the halfway mark! 18.7kg/41lbs down in 18 weeks. I've got 13kg to go until a healthy BMI and 17kg to target weight.
Had a bit of an up/down stall for a few weeks, but a nice whoosh since yesterday just in time for official weigh day.
I took my first 10mg dose on Monday. All fine so far apart from slightly increased nausea and more toilet trips.
I do need to force myself to eat more though as I'm getting fatigued again (it went for a few weeks which was nice).

InspectorGidget · 24/07/2024 09:40

Hi @RobinEllacotStrike

I was a BMI of 41 when I started 11 weeks ago.
I'm 19lbs down and just over 37.
My losses haven't been as impressive as some but it's been consistent and I'm here for the long haul so happy to go slow and steady.
I'm still on 5mg until after the summer holidays / as long as I'm losing every week.

I thought I'd have a gain this week after having pizza and a few drinks at the weekend but managed to lose 1lb after all!

Good luck and Welcome!

I really don't recommend doing it.
I pulled forward one of my 2mg injections and was sick as a dog. Took me by total surprise as hadn't been feeing the affect at all that week. I was also pretty sick when I upped the dose to 5mg.

I'm super impatient..so I get wanting to move on quick and see the results but I think you have to trust the process in the first couple of months.

If you really feel you want to speed up..then perhaps do an in-between dose (i.e. count clicks to get 3.75mg) rather than straight to 5

Oreosareawful · 24/07/2024 10:48

Hi everyone! I'm joining you today as my first pen has just arrived (literally) and I have 30kg to lose.
I've been on Slimming World since the beginning of May and I'm coming up to my first stone gone, but it's been so hard. I am constantly thinking about food, planning my food and giving into cravings when they hit me. I'm desperately looking forward to some suppression.

Sunshineandrainbow · 24/07/2024 18:12

Have been on this drug for 16 weeks and this is the first week I have experienced sulphar burps. Omg absolutely vile, is there anything I can do?

I haven't had those, but I use peppermint capsules and they make my burps taste of peppermint, so may be worth a try!

Sorry to say that the only remedy I have found is basically to fast (or eat very little) until the food already in my stomach has emptied. Sulphur burp days tend to come with high suppression / nausea for me so this isn’t difficult. I find the worst is being self-conscious about the smell if I have to be in a relatively confined space with other people, eg a small meeting room. I have found that strongly mentholated throat sweets are the only things strong enough to cover the smell - mints don’t cut it.

Sympathies - they are awful.

Sunshineandrainbow · 24/07/2024 22:22

Thankyou both...

I find it strange I am getting them now this far along and I haven't gone to a higher dose.

Today I ate grapes and babybel at 2pm.

Chicken breast, brocoli and cauliflower cheese at 6pm and 2 rich tea.

I even had the burps this morning before eating.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 24/07/2024 22:29

It might be worth looking at what you ate yesterday. Fatty foods can trigger them for some people, as can cruciferous vegetables.

OP posts:
KeepingUndercover · 24/07/2024 22:29

I've had some success with Esomeprazole for the burps. But it hasn't always worked. Thankfully I've not had them for quite a while now.

RobinEllacotStrike · 24/07/2024 23:05

Day one for me after my first injection last night.

I know it's very early but I didn't think much about food and didn't eat any large quantities. I had a handful of raw almonds after work & then I had a long nap. I also felt a bit cold but I swam in the sea this morning so that's not usual.

About 1200 calories today.

I'm going to focus on protein & vege. If we are eating less the nutrients are important.

I'm also taking a good multivitamin & flaxseed oil.

RobinEllacotStrike · 25/07/2024 13:31

Question about food for you all - I'm not planning on following a diet as such. I find I start to get too obsessed. But I'm only on day 3 and my mind has much less food noise and I'm not ever hungry - is this what you are all calling suppression?

What I am worried about is pre mounjaro I can often go a long time without food & not feeling hungry, and then I get really hungry and this can trigger binge eating - so I want to avoid this. But it seems nonsensical to eat when I'm not hungry when the whole point is to eat a lot less.

So is the idea to plan out small meals and eat them as/when planned?

I'm trying to find a balance between enjoying not being hungry or thinking about food, and eating healthily when I need to, while avoiding getting too hungry which may lead to eating too much.

SilenceInside · 25/07/2024 13:59

I am not at all hungry, and don't feel like eating - that's the suppression. I am not constantly thinking of snacks, or feeling deprived about food. I try to eat 3 times a day, easier as I have children so I am prepping food for them. I tend to have the protein and veg that I am doing for them and skip or minimise the carbs. If its a fatty protein I might sub in a lower fat alternative. If I don't want what they're having at all I usually have some soup to hand and have that, or something egg based. (I am vegetarian).

I agree that it's important to get used to eating smaller meals regularly, but the blood sugar control that MJ gives you is what helps to avoid the binge/starve cycle.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 25/07/2024 16:05

I am struggling with hunger a bit today. It is jab day so I will inject this evening. I am gradually titrating up to 5mg to will increase my dose from 45 clicks to 52.
I have lost another 0.6kg this week so I am now down 8kg.

What is clear to me is that one of my biggest hunger triggers is tiredness. I had unavoidable broken sleep earlier this week and I haven’t caught up. My sleep habits are a bit rubbish anyway. I feel like it’s an uphill battle when I am tired. I just had some extra lean protein as a snack to try to manage the hunger.

Early night needed.

RobinEllacotStrike · 25/07/2024 17:40

sleep well @ChazsBrilliantAttitude - a good nights sleep has become one of my fav pastimes

WoolyMammoth55 · 25/07/2024 22:04

So jealous of you good sleepers! I've got two small kids who rarely sleep through and are often both up once at different times of the night... And then up and raring to go at 5:30am 😭

Currently in Spain having a lovely holiday though so can't complain! It's jab day tomorrow and my usual weigh day but no scales here so my hands are tied😎

@RobinEllacotStrike food suppression for me is about not thinking/ stressing/ obsessing about food any more. It's a game changer in that way for me, for sure. I have a binge eating disorder and have only binged once in the 11 weeks on MJ - literally up until jab 1 I was bingeing every night due to work stress... Work is the same, sadly, but the medicine has totally changed my behaviour.

Like you I am not "dieting", not counting cals or choosing low-fat options. I'm just trying to listen to my body and keep myself hydrated and nourished without using food as comfort or to self-soothe.

In practice I usually skip breakfast, then form one meal I'll have a protein smoothie (unflavoured organic whey protein) with some nice fruit and peanut butter/ cacao power. Then the other meal is usually a salad with chicken, or tuna, or mozzarella. I'm really enjoying lettuce! Which is so wild and nothing I can ever imagine saying before MJ! 😂 But now I basically eat it daily and love it. I sometimes switch the salad for protein and roasted veg, but rarely.

Depending on my schedule I might have the salad for lunch, smoothie dinner, or switch it over. But I like the simplicity and routine of knowing what to reach for and taking the drama out of food.

Hope that helps - wish you all the best with it!

RobinEllacotStrike · 25/07/2024 22:20

@WoolyMammoth55 enjoy the sunshine in Spain while you can. I went to the beach for a swim in the rain & grey this evening. No sun in Kent.

I've got the Zoe so di I'm gently logging. It does count calories but that isn't the focus at all. Its main focus is lots of vegetables & protein & that is my preferred way of eating.

It's lovely not having the food noise in my brain. Early days here but I keep thinking I've forgotten to think about food 😂😂. Hopefully relearning some new thought patterns.

My kids are a bit older now so they really like to sleep. I don't know how I used to do all those late nights & early mornings- guess I'm catching up now. Mind you I've just watched 2 Alvin & the Chipmunks films with dd who is 13 & full of flu bless her. So a different parenting challenge 😐😆

Eminybob · 26/07/2024 07:05

I'm on holiday (in the uk) and have really struggled this week with not being able to weigh myself every day.
My diet has not been the healthiest due to lack of choice where we are staying. Have also drank more alcohol than usual (although much less than I would normally on holiday)
I'm convinced I've put on weight, I know it's completely ridiculous but I'm convinced I'll get on the scales when I'm home and most of the 2.5 stone I've lost will be back on and all the time (and money) will be wasted.
Logically I know this is unlikely as I've continued with my injections and have been having small portions but psychologically not having the comfort blanket of seeing the number on scales go down is really hard.
I know this is probably disordered thinking and I need to snap out of it, but how?
