I'm on holiday (in the uk) and have really struggled this week with not being able to weigh myself every day.
My diet has not been the healthiest due to lack of choice where we are staying. Have also drank more alcohol than usual (although much less than I would normally on holiday)
I'm convinced I've put on weight, I know it's completely ridiculous but I'm convinced I'll get on the scales when I'm home and most of the 2.5 stone I've lost will be back on and all the time (and money) will be wasted.
Logically I know this is unlikely as I've continued with my injections and have been having small portions but psychologically not having the comfort blanket of seeing the number on scales go down is really hard.
I know this is probably disordered thinking and I need to snap out of it, but how?

Don't worry, it's just not possible to put that much back on in one week.

I don't even own scales. I threw them out as they were ruining my whole day if I didn't like what they said.

I'm on week 2 of MJ after switching from wegovy and liking it a lot, I had 6 months on wegovy then stopped to try and come off it, only did a month off but found myself overeating.

So back on MJ to keep the food noise out and weight off.

CatTraveler · 26/07/2024 07:35

Week 2 finished and just about to do my third 2.5 injection - only 0.8kg off this week but after a big loss last week still happy with that

SW - 134.7 kg (BMI 49.5)
CW - 129.6kg (BMI 47.6)
GW - 80kg (BMI 29.4)

Loss 5.1kg (3.8% of SW)

Definetly has less food suppression this week, hoping this week will be slightly better but even if not its so much better than pre injection.

damnedifyoudodammedifyoudont · 26/07/2024 07:45

I'm on week 6
I have just taken my second 5mg Mounjaro and am delighted with the losses.

SW - 14st 9
CW - 13st 5

I am also working very hard at exercise and diet but never typically see these losses.
I've been dieting since last August and managed 2st in that whole time, trying hard. The injections have re-kickstarted the losses.

I did feel the effect wearing off on weeks 3 and 4 of 2.5mg - I felt my appetite started returning on day six before my second injection of 5mg, so I will order 7.5mg for the next set.

I'm wondering, those on 7.5mg, have you found the same creep back in at that level or have you been able to stick there?

I don't want to go up too high if I don't need to; I was hoping five would be enough, but I can see from comments here the same happened for most towards the end of week 4 on 5mg as happened on 2.5mg?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 26/07/2024 08:44

@RobinEllacotStrike
Thank you. I am feeling a lot more human this morning and have nothing major planned for the weekend so may fit in a couple of naps.

oreo2024 · 26/07/2024 09:13

Good morning, not a great week for me. 11 weeks on MJ, +0.3kg since last week. It feels "it was too good to be truth" as I am feeling bloated and hungry, and my eating hasn't been bad but it's been somewhat erratic. Moreover, I am going for 2 week family visit where I don't want to be taking MJ (if my mum finds out, she will be furious), and then I will be having surgery - I hadn't thought of it but perhaps I ought to stop MJ before the surgery.
SW 108.3kg
CW 98.8kg

boredsolicitor · 26/07/2024 09:19

I'm on the second dose of Wegovy 0.5mg. Since starting I have lost about 5kg which I'm pleased about but that was all in first 4 weeks and seems to have stalled for the last 2 weeks . I'm not calorie counting but am being very careful about what I eat - main change for me is the fact that I'm not snacking/grazing which I normally would do. Is it normal to stall like this? I assumed loss would be steady . Grateful for any reassurance /advice from those further down the line with treatment

oreo2024 · 26/07/2024 09:34

@boredsolicitor I had a stall for 2-3 weeks and then a whoosh of 2+kg. Hopefully that will be the case for you.

KeepingUndercover · 26/07/2024 09:40

Stalling is definitely not uncommon @boredsolicitor, frustrating but very normal.

@oreo2024 it would be worth checking with your surgery team about the medication. From what I understand, because it slows down digestion it is something they need to be aware of if you're having a general anaesthetic because the standard fasting time might not be long enough to completely clear your stomach.

I wouldn't let your mum stop you though or this current blip. There's going to be ups and downs and others have had gains and then lost again. So don't assume it's all over.

KeepingUndercover · 26/07/2024 09:46

I'm making a proper effort to eat better after noticing a larger amount of hair loss than normal while washing my hair this morning. I have thick hair so it can take it, but it was a bit of a wake up call that I've not been focusing properly on nutrition. So I'm logging in Nutracheck again to make sure I'm giving my body what it needs.

Also to report back that the cyclizine I ordered for my nausea has been working nicely. I don't need to take it every day, but for the first day or two after injection it is definitely helping.

NewoIkkin · 26/07/2024 09:53

Week four done and I’ve lost another 3.3lbs. I weigh every day and the scales have been going up and down 1lb all week, so this was a nice surprise this morning! Total loss in first 4 weeks: 16.4lbs. About 79lbs to go.

I’m definitely starting to struggle more with cravings and hunger now, so I’m ready to move up to the next dose. Will be taking my first shot of 5mg on Sunday and I’m a bit nervous based on other people’s experiences!

@boredsolicitor I think a short stall, or a slowing down around weeks 4-8 is very common with any weight loss. It will pick up again as long as you’re in a calorie deficit.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 26/07/2024 10:06

3lb loss this week, taking me to 4.5st loss overall.
Been a long time since I've lost 3lb in a week so am very happy with that.

@KeepingUndercover I'm losing a huge amount of hair too. I used to lose loads before starting MJ and then it stopped. Over the last couple of months it's really ramped up and it's starting to become ridiculous. I've been working away this week and my hotel bathroom floor was entirely covered with hair after just one night ☹️

That's an amazing weight loss! Well done. Can I ask how long you've been on MJ please?

KeepingUndercover · 26/07/2024 10:39

@PissedOffNeighbour22 are you taking anything to try and help with hair loss? I'm hoping if I just pay a bit more attention to my nutrition it will help as I've been ok up until now. Well done on the loss too, that's excellent.

EternalFatalist · 26/07/2024 10:49

Happy Friday eveyone! 2.5 mg injection Number 4 this morning...weigh-in Number 3:

Start weight: 15 st 8 lbs (BMI = 37.2)
Current weight: 14 st 8 lbs
Goal weight: 9 st 0 lbs (BMI = 21.5)
Week 1 Loss = 6 lbs
Week 2 Loss = 5 lbs
Week 3 Loss = 3 lbs

One stone gone! This morning I actually feel lighter, if that makes sense.

I received my 5mg pen from Asda yesterday (fab service, by the way) but will try using my "bonus dose" next Friday and hopefully it will be somewhere between 2.5 and 5 mg to give me a bridge.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 26/07/2024 11:02

Thank you @thinkfast ☺️. I started at the end of February when MJ had only just been released.

@KeepingUndercover no I'm not taking anything for it as I've always lost a lot of hair anyway and suspected some sort of thyroid issue (couldn't get GP appt to check).

But now it's ramped up and I'm leaving a trail of hair everywhere i go, I'm going to have to do the same as you and improve nutrition. If that doesn't help I'll have to look into what else I could take. I've seen people on the main thread mention protein but I use protein whey shakes already and eat an appropriate amount of protein through my diet.

RobinEllacotStrike · 26/07/2024 11:32

I've just realised I've got no idea what a healthy BMI is - I've been over 30 for at least 20 years I guess & I'm currently 40.8

Seeing @EternalFatalist post about a goal BMI of 21.5 it hit me I've no idea what my "heatlhy BMI" would be.

The calculator seems to be saying I need to be between 70 & 73 kilos to be in the top of my "heathy weight" range. I'm shocked. That would mean losing 50 ish kilos which is a whole person.

I'm big framed so I think 80 kilos would be more suitable though it still doesn't feel realistic - I certainly can't imagine myself or my life at that weight.

This is all very strange and something I need to think about.

boredsolicitor · 26/07/2024 11:43

Thanks everyone for your comments re stalling - reassuring to know this is not unusual. Hope everyone has a good week!

EternalFatalist · 26/07/2024 11:52

@RobinEllacotStrike My BMI when I was at my happiest and healthiest was 21.5 and I remember that my GP (a wonderful woman) said that it was a perfect weight for me - I am not big-boned and when I was at the top of my healthy BMI ie 25, I actually felt big. Now, of course, being that weight would be a dream. Oh, to be able to say things to my younger self.

I was also at my goal weight/BMI for a very long time, so it is my stable adult weight and I know that it is doable and sustainable.

RobinEllacotStrike · 26/07/2024 12:02

I'm 56 and have been overweright since my late teens/early 20's. I have lost weight over the years but followed the steady pattern of weight increasing every time afterwards. I have stopped dieting. I have eaten very healthy food - but always too much of it so I gain weight. I remember being 63kg ages 15 which was probably perfect. I am now 122kg.

Its very early days for me, but this absense of food noise is so lovely - I feel like its the first time in my life I've been free of it.

It's funny because I did think this when you first posted, I wondered how tall you were. Even my own comfortable weight is comfortably into overweight on the bmi scale.

My hope is that with mounjaro that those very normal and even slightly low range normal bmi number will be within reach as it doesn't need desperate amounts of willpower to get close. Makes you realise that at bigger weights you end up having to be happy to settle to be a lot larger than you might want to be, just because losing weight is so difficult and hard to sustain.

RobinEllacotStrike · 26/07/2024 12:49

I'm 5'8" and I think my comfortable weight is likely to be in BMI "overweight" zone. I think I'd be OK with that. I'd be delerious to be 80kg and be able to maintain that. But there is a long way to go first.

CatTraveler · 26/07/2024 13:01

My current goal weight is to take me to a BMI that is just below obese, so top of the "over weight" scale- I just cant see past that as a goal as I dont think I have been that weight since I was a teenager

KeepingUndercover · 26/07/2024 17:26

I've just seen MN have warned on the big thread that we're not allowed to share promo codes on the main boards, only on the promo bit of the site. Thought I'd mention it here too just in case, although I don't think we do it much.

I do wonder about the ethics of using those referral promo codes for prescription drugs. It's a bit weird if you think about it.

Ghilliedu · 26/07/2024 17:43

I’m actually really glad they’ve done this. It makes me uncomfortable sometimes when someone asks for advice and immediately have people posting codes rather than taking time to offer advice (obvious this isn’t everyone- don’t want to offend!)
