Weigh day for me: -5lbs. Bit more of a loss this week as I’ve had tonsillitis so barely eaten a thing.

Weekly: -7, -5, -3, -2, -5
Total: 1st 8lbs.

Darlinghag · 25/09/2024 13:13

The scales have finally moved for me! I’ve had real slow progress so far with MJ even though I’ve felt the benefits a lot of the time in other ways, but today I move down to 17st 10.6lbs - so 1.7lb loss after two weeks of virtually nothing!!

Despite the slow losing, not even close to a stone in 5 weeks of MJ, I do physically feel it. My tummy feels like its shrinking, and its weird, but softer? So bizarre, but wondering if its the inflammation reduction? Or purely in my head 😂😂

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 25/09/2024 10:40

@HippityHoppityhoo I had to administer daily Fragmin injections for a while after both of my births and find Mounjaro much easier. It's less frequent for one thing, but also the needle is much finer and gentler. I had a lot of bruising from the Fragmin and have had none from MJ.

Thank you! That's so helpful to know! Love your user name by the way!! Grin

My delivery has just arrived- I'm nervous and excited in equal measures if that's possible. Still trying to figure the best time to start-
I'm due on my period any day now too- timing eh?

Doobi · 25/09/2024 14:54

Hello!

My weight currently stands at 120.8kg/265lb/18st 18.

I've made it into the next stone bracket! Small wins.

I've lost 9.1kg since starting Mounjaro (23/08/24), which I'm happy with.

My overall weight loss since my highest weight in May 2023, is 15.8kg. I can't quite honestly believe it!

16kg to go, to get under my first proper goal weight and I'm feeling more determined then ever.

RobinEllacotStrike · 25/09/2024 14:55

@Darlinghag I am now back in my "old" jeans. Size 18. Not even that old but I gained some "menopausal" weight and had to size up. I was/am still obese in the 18 jeans - but I also feel so much slimmer. I can notice my butt/hips/stomach are smaller. Of course being 10 kilos down I should be noticing a change, and yet I still find it surprising.
I also feel softer - but I'm taking collagen and flax seed oil so maybe that is it.
I feel very optimistic. I do think the MJ is having additional positive effects on my brain/outlook.

Darlinghag · 25/09/2024 16:10

@RobinEllacotStrike well done!! Such a lush feeling!

i’m typically a 22, right now, but was almost busting out about 3 months ago, but now comfortably in them.

i also had a pair of jeans, a size 22, that had zero stretch and just didn’t quite do up before MJ, but yesterday I wore them all day!!

collagen! That might be it!! I’ve been taking that since i started MJ! Its so weird, its almost like my belly is a bit more maleable? Its not loose skin. Like its prepping for weightloss haha!

RobinEllacotStrike · 25/09/2024 17:01

Being well hydrated is also very good for skin, joints etc so there is that. I am cetainly making more of an effort to drink more water

KayeEyeEssEss · 25/09/2024 22:34

Hi everyone, I’m in week five and fingers crossed I’ve gained a little momentum too after a slow few weeks and an increase of dose (2.5 mg, 3mg, 4mg). This morning I’ve slipped under the 16 stone mark! I’m noticing the softer belly too, and definitely seeing some looseness in my clothes.

HW (6 Aug) - 107kg/16st 11.9lb/235lb/BMI 39.9
SW (23 Aug) - 105.8kg/16st 9lb/233lb/BMI 39.3
CW - 101.4kg/15st 13.5lb/223.5lb/BMI 37.7

I’m now the lightest I’ve been in a year. Onwards and downwards!

alltablenochairs · 26/09/2024 00:05

Joining this thread a bit early as I won't actually be getting the MJ until I get paid on Monday.

Here's the facts:
I'm currently 133.5kg. That gives me a BMI of 45.1. Oh shit.

Earlier this year I was 113kg. That was shortly before one or more of the 50+ gallstones I didn't know I even had tried pretty hard to kill me. Sepsis. It wasn't much fun. Anyway I am now sans gallbladder and my weight is at an all time high.

I don't have an eventual end goal because many, many years of yoyo dieting has made me very wary of it. However I think a good place to start will be if I can get back to 113kg. I've tried NHS weight loss 'services' if you can call it that. The sum total of 6 weeks of classes telling me to up the veg, eat less crap and exercise more. While completely ignoring something rather essential- I'm a powerchair user. I can't walk.

So can I join the club?

SecondDesk · 26/09/2024 00:37

@HippityHoppityhoo I took similar anti-clotting medication. The injections stung and left black bruises. The MJ is so fine, I barely feel it. I've had no bruising whatsoever. Good luck

NewbieMJ · 26/09/2024 11:43

@alltablenochairs Welcome to the club. This thread is so inspiring - you will enjoy it.

I'm just under 4 weeks in and have lost 12 pounds (official 4-week weigh in is not until Monday). I couldn't believe the losses I was reading at the start on here - 1 stone (14 pounds) losses in a month, and here I am! So motivating to know that I can, at last, get sustainable weight loss. I am hopeful in a way I didn't expect (I can relate to feeling wary of goals), and like others, it has lifted my mood and kept me very motivated, as it can be daunting knowing I have so much to lose.

I can actually feel the loss too - not so much a struggle getting off the floor (painting skirtings).

Will report back on Monday when it is my 4 week weigh in.

RobinEllacotStrike · 26/09/2024 13:49

welcome @alltablenochairs - are you able to exercise in your chair? I've been reading so much about how important load bearing exercise and building/maintaining muscle is through this process. Hopefully you are able to do seated workouts. You might not fancy exercising at first (I certainly didn't) but within a few weeks of starting MJ I was really keen to get exercising more.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 26/09/2024 14:14

Welcome @alltablenochairs. I am not sure if she is still around but @RMNofTikTok from this thread is a wheelchair user and might have some words of wisdom to share with you.

Hi @alltablenochairs

Are you ambulatory? Or can you transfer unassisted? I'm ambulatory, but one of the cycling machines I use at the gym has the option to use either hands, feet, or both, and the seat can come off and you can park your wheelchair there instead. I'd go and speak to a council run gym, they are very used to supporting people with disabilities!

I am!

SW: 19st 4.2lb
CW: 16st 13.1lb
GW: 9st 11lb

I'm incredibly quiet, but only because wegovy is going so well! NHS took over funding wegovy for me and I had my first delivery of free wegovy last week. I've achieved double their expected weight loss and they are very happy with progress. So I've just not been on as nothing to report! I seem to be losing a steady 7.5lb a month and I'm very happy with it!

I've also lost the emotional connection with food and don't miss eating anymore!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 26/09/2024 14:28

Hooray @RMNofTikTok! Lovely to hear from you and delighted to hear that things are going so well Flowers

Ambulatory in the sense that I can stand and take steps. On a completely flat and level surface. Not sure about actual walking though. Generally, unless it's a really easy transfer and DH is helping me then I am hoisted for transfers. Ohhhhhh the humiliation of that. For those not in the know, most hoist slings have a cutaway for toileting purposes. Or in my purposes hanging my ample backside through the sling purposes. As for my chair, she's a large powerchair with a seating system.

I wouldn't be able to sit on a cycling machine however my local leisure centre actually listened to what people were telling them and have fitted a proper changing-places spec changing room. As for swimming, they have a proper pool hoist that doesn't involve your arse dangling above the water in said aforementioned sling and instead involves a proper poolside wheelchair and a pool lift. I can't really swim anymore but 45 mins floating around and smashing around with the kids counts as exercise, right?

I have severe ME so the PEM hits hard as hell though.

Honestly if someone had told me in May I'd lose 33lb in 4.5 months I would have laughed at them! You always think it's impossible until you've done it 😁

Rm2018 · 26/09/2024 15:42

For those of us hoping for really big losses has anyone found something which works for loose skin? I need to lose about 7 stone and that's my only worry if I succeed ( hopefully when!)

RobinEllacotStrike · 26/09/2024 16:00

Re loose skin, its too early to tell for me, but I have always taken flax seed oil supplements and one of the things this is good for is skin. I'm also now taking marine collagen daily and lots of water.

I had 2 pregnancies in my early 40's without any stretch marks, and my skin bounced back well, but I am now nearly 57 so I'm not expecting any magic. I suspect age and genetics will play the biggest role for us individually, but I'm taking the supplements just in case it helps.

I swim in the cold sea several times a week and I visualise that as being very toning on my skin - don't know if it is or not.

Dry skin brushing is also meant to be excellent for skin but I tend to forget to do it. https://www.boots.com/skincare-beauty-advice/skincare-advice/skincare-routines/dry-body-brushing-guide?srsltid=AfmBOoqhefTbckwxZ6gqzxZwUvHRWubiLOBjXK-NmRlmPopfg1P1GKEt

Oh & I will need to lose about 7 1/2 stone to hit "halthy" BMI

Rm2018 · 26/09/2024 19:15

I've ordered a brush thanks gor thr help

Orangesandlemons77 · 26/09/2024 19:36

Hi, hope it is Ok to join you? I'm 47, perimenopausal and have gained a lot of weight mainly since being on some meds for depression, in particular olanzapine which I take along with antidepressants.

I'm in my second week of my first pen, 2.5 and have lost approx 3kg so far, Started at 101kg and now 98kg, which I am pretty pleased with. My BMI was just over 40.

I talked to my GP about starting mounjaro, and she was supportive, but they can't fund it- yet. I don't have diabetes.

I have found almost instant feelings of not having cravings (the meds used to cause carb cravings) and now, I sometimes get a bit hungry as in tummy rumbling but don't feel hungry in my brain (if that makes any sense) and am making better food choices. Got a thing about veggies atm, for example.

I usually have a sweet tooth too but that seems to have gone as well, which is really unusual for me.

Best wishes to all of you. I don't really have a goal weight yet, but would like to get to under 30BMI to start with.

I'm going to continue with the 2.4mg pens as long as possible, if it continues to help.

NewoIkkin · 27/09/2024 08:09

Weigh-in day, and I’ve lost another 3.6lbs! I’m a bit worried that it’s because I’ve not been able to do any strength training this week so it’s muscle wasting away, but I’m going to take the win.

Milestones this week:

  • 3 stone lost
  • 45lbs lost
  • 20kg lost
  • Into the 180s

Still on 5mg (ninth week of this dose) and feeling good.

SilenceInside · 27/09/2024 09:46

@Orangesandlemons77 welcome!
@NewoIkkin brilliant progress!

Today is my weigh-in day too, my current weight is now 116kg or 18st 3lbs, from a starting weight of 139kg or 21st 12lbs. I've lost 51lbs now in total, or 23kg, so I'm pleased to have got through the 50lbs mark. I still have a long way to go, as I need to lose the same again and more, but I'm in it for the long haul.
