The first thread is almost full so, as promised, here is a new one.

Hello to everyone from the original thread, and welcome to anyone using (or considering using) Wegovy/Mounjaro/Saxenda who would like to join the chat 😀

You might want to ask for this to be moved to the weight loss injection topic. If people are looking there for it now they might not find this one

justsaxy · 24/06/2024 16:48

Checking in!

Mookie81 · 24/06/2024 17:44

Hi all!
I've moved down from 2.4 to 1.7 as I want to strat weaning off.
2 weeks in, only symptom is constipation, weight loss has slowed and food noise a bit louder. This time round when I put updated weight it asked me to send a photo of myself, for the first time! I was still approved.
I want to lose another half stone then stop. I need to step up the exercise bit which should help.

I didn't even know there was a weight loss injection topic! I made this to follow on from the original thread (which I didn't create) in the weight loss chat topic but if engagement drops off, I can get it moved Smile

@Mookie81 Exciting! I'm really interested to hear how you find weaning off over the next few weeks. I'm only a few pounds from goal but I'm way too nervous to come off Wegovy. I'm planning to reduce my dose from August but I'm going to stick with splitting up 2.4mg pens as it works out cheaper per dose.

And a general update from me: I have stuck to my promise of eating more calories every day as I transition toward maintenance. I actually had another reason for wanting to increase my food intake, which I hadn't mentioned before; I noticed a few weeks ago that I had thick, fluffy white hair growing on my cheeks, jaw and neck. I had heard of that happening to people struggling with anorexia but I did some research and found that it is simply a sign of malnutrition, which shocked me. I eat a decent variety of foods, I'm diligent about multivitamins, etc and even though I didn't feel hungry, I'd evidently been undereating for months Sad

I have increased my intake by about 400 calories a day. My weight has continued to go down but more slowly, which is what I wanted, and I'm going to slowly increase my calories each week until I find the right amount for maintenance.

Highest weight: 18st 5
Started Wegovy: 14st 11
Current weight: 9st 9
Goal weight: 9st 5

I agree with Amusey that I don't see how people can know that was a thing. It's not really advertised. I just found the other thread on this board.

You have to get a certain amount of fat grams or your body can't absorb the fat soluble vitamins. So it could be that- even if you take a multivitamin, without some fat, your body can't absorb vitamin A, D, E or K. It helps with cravings as well.

Make sure you have a little bit of fat in your diet (I try to get 37g, I worked it out somehow at some point- I have studied these things.) Something like walnuts is really healthy.

GoodieMcTwoshoes · 26/06/2024 01:27

@amusedbush Well done on all your weight loss! Nearly half your highest weight.😮 I'm about your current weight, don't want to look until I feel more confident in how I'm doing lol. Just want to lose a few lbs more now.

Should it not be moved anyway? The point of that board being created was to stop threads about weight loss injections taking over the weight loss chat board.

I take your point and have asked MNHQ to move this thread. I have also asked for a pinned post in Weight Loss Chat directing people to the injections board.

In my defence, it looks like the injections board is only a couple of months old and the original "wegovy started a week ago" thread has been running since September last year, which is why it is in WLC. I then started this second thread in the same place as I didn't know about the new board 😬

That's interesting and not something I had given any thought. I have just flicked through the last few weeks on my calorie tracker app and I tend to eat around 50g of fat a day. Sometimes a bit lower but never below 30g.

Ah ok, I wonder what particular thing you were low in. Glad if it's sorted itself out. x

I might never have been able to view any thread on a weight loss injections board as, as with other people, I had no idea it existed.

So Amuse is right that if people are going to put stuff there, it needs a pinned link at the top of the main weight loss board.

justsaxy · 26/06/2024 19:13

Have had a hard day today. Started with Saxenda in January, and then started on Wegovy ten days ago. I stuck at 1.8 on Saxenda as it worked for me, and my endocrinologist started me at Wegovy 1.

Today, I woke up and experienced a sulphuric burp! It was the first of many today.

And then the diarrhea.... wow. It's been explosive.

Apart from constipation, I have never had any side effects until today...

LuckyMoonstone · 26/06/2024 20:31

Hi all, please can I join the chat? I was approved Wegovy today through chemist4u, excited and nervous! Probably be end of this week when it comes, possibly early next week. Have been scouring mumsnet for positive stories.
Current weight 14st 4, but I have been dieting this week so will re weigh on Saturday. BMI is 30.

amusedbush · 28/06/2024 13:13

@justsaxy I'm sorry to hear you're suffering - the gastro side effects of Wegovy can be rough! I hope it settles down soon.

@LuckyMoonstone eek exciting! How are you feeling about getting started? My main tips are to stay hydrated, don't eat anything too tough/spicy/fatty until you get a feel for how your stomach reacts to the medication, and ELECTROLYTES, ELECTROLYTES, ELECTROLYTES. I have been banging this drum for months but I promise they help so much with the headaches and feeling off-kilter in the first few weeks. The tablets I get from Amazon aren't available at the moment but there are loads of alternatives - just look for a decent amount of potassium, magnesium and sodium 😊

OP posts:
LuckyMoonstone · 28/06/2024 13:24

@amusedbush thanks for the tip! Looking into electrolytes right now! I am a bit nervous about starting but I know that I really need this. I have tried so hard to do this by myself and I just cannot get my brain in gear. The struggle is mental rather than physical.
First dose has arrived but I’m going to wait until Sunday 👍 is there a time of day people think is better to take it? I was thinking evening

justsaxy · 28/06/2024 15:44

@amusedbush thank you. Luckily it seems to have been very short lived and I hope it doesn't come back! It has made me a little cautious, but luckily I have now finished work until mid August. That could have been embarrassing!!!

Am debating about moving up in full doses or doing half doses, like I did with Saxenda.

HoldMyCoffee · 28/06/2024 20:52

Hi, mind if I join in too? I started today, I was so nervous but it wasn't bad at all.

I've got quite a bit to lose but taking it one day at a time. After years of trying and failing at the first hurdle I'm hoping to get past day 2 this time..

WithASpider · 28/06/2024 22:39

Hi, can I join please? I started mounjaro on weds and things seem to be going well so far.

I'm finally feeling full when eating, less food noise, less overall interest in food. My only side effects so far are slight constipation and a bit of nausea after eating.

Starting weight 19st 9lb
Goal weight 13st 5lb which puts me at a BMI of 30.

LuckyMoonstone · 29/06/2024 09:17

14st 2 this morning so I’m glad I lost a bit on my own this week. Think I’m gonna do my first dose Monday AM

Mookie81 · 29/06/2024 19:46

Has anyone found their thirst has died down along with their appetite?
I've had to really force myself to drink since being on it.

No, on the contrary. I am SO thirsty.

Nice to have you here @HoldMyCoffee and @WithASpider 👋

@LuckyMoonstone With regard to time of day, some people who suffer side effects prefer to take their injection in the evening so they're asleep by the time it kicks in. I have always taken mine in the morning but I have been very lucky with side effects. I think it's a good idea to take your first dose in the morning so you can monitor how you feel and adjust the timing if needed. My GP knows that I get Wegovy privately (she actually recommended I do it) and is happy to supply me with NHS scripts for prochlorperazine, which has been a miracle drug the few times I have felt nauseated.

@justsaxy Nice one, I hope you enjoy your break! I work at an FE college and the summer break has just started. I'm in professional services so I'm not off but we get the rewards of reduced hours (with no reduction in salary) and six blissful weeks with no 8am battle for a parking space 😂if you're experiencing side effects, I'd move up in smaller increments - just to be safe. The move from 1.0 to 1.7 was the first time I had any side effects; I felt sick as a dog and took prescription anti-emetics for three days.

@Mookie81 I'm not the person to ask, I'm afraid. According to my mum, she practically had to force-feed me water as a toddler and it hasn't gotten much better since. Last time I had blood taken, the nurse literally couldn't find a drop in my body so I was sent away and told to hydrate before my next appointment Blush I now have one of those comically big metal mugs that hold 1.2L, which I fill with ice cold sugar free squash every morning and sip throughout the day.
