The first thread is almost full so, as promised, here is a new one.

Hello to everyone from the original thread, and welcome to anyone using (or considering using) Wegovy/Mounjaro/Saxenda who would like to join the chat 😀

Has anyone found their thirst has died down along with their appetite?
I've had to really force myself to drink since being on it.

Nope, drinking gallons! Only water though, seem to have gone off my usual buckets of tea.

HoldMyCoffee · 30/06/2024 18:23

I can't believe how well this is going, I've been to the shops both today and yesterday and didn't feel the need to pick up anything extra or stuff anything in the car so I don't have to share

Nice to have you here @HoldMyCoffee and @WithASpider 👋

@LuckyMoonstone With regard to time of day, some people who suffer side effects prefer to take their injection in the evening so they're asleep by the time it kicks in. I have always taken mine in the morning but I have been very lucky with side effects. I think it's a good idea to take your first dose in the morning so you can monitor how you feel and adjust the timing if needed. My GP knows that I get Wegovy privately (she actually recommended I do it) and is happy to supply me with NHS scripts for prochlorperazine, which has been a miracle drug the few times I have felt nauseated.

@justsaxy Nice one, I hope you enjoy your break! I work at an FE college and the summer break has just started. I'm in professional services so I'm not off but we get the rewards of reduced hours (with no reduction in salary) and six blissful weeks with no 8am battle for a parking space 😂if you're experiencing side effects, I'd move up in smaller increments - just to be safe. The move from 1.0 to 1.7 was the first time I had any side effects; I felt sick as a dog and took prescription anti-emetics for three days.

@Mookie81 I'm not the person to ask, I'm afraid. According to my mum, she practically had to force-feed me water as a toddler and it hasn't gotten much better since. Last time I had blood taken, the nurse literally couldn't find a drop in my body so I was sent away and told to hydrate before my next appointment Blush I now have one of those comically big metal mugs that hold 1.2L, which I fill with ice cold sugar free squash every morning and sip throughout the day.

Hello! Happy reduced hours!!! Am a teacher so no obligatory work (although I will do some prep each week. But at my pace. Yippee!) smaller increments is a good idea. I did that on Saxenda. I think it helped

LuckyMoonstone · 02/07/2024 12:53

Might be an odd question, but did anyone else think that the liquid in the pen didn’t look like it had gone down at all after first dose? The flow test was fine, and I do feel like I’ve had the medication, but I’m worried that it’s all in my head and that it actually didn’t work! The amount of liquid in the pen looks the same to me.

How do you all cope with the jab wearing off? For 6 days it's been great. Started noticing the food noise again yesterday and today I want to eat the world.

Next shot is late tonight/early tomorrow.
Desperately trying to get through today without ruining the last week!

I struggled at first because the lower doses didn't suppress my appetite one iota. I have been on the top dose since February and it still doesn't last for a full week.

A few months ago, I bought a box of extra needles and I have been "counting the clicks" to inject 66% of the dose every five days instead of the full dose once a week. It works out as the same amount of medication over a four week period but my appetite feels much more levelled out.

To clarify, this is not medical advice or an endorsement! I would definitely recommend sticking with the standard titration schedule to see how you get on but if you're still struggling with hunger on the higher doses, I'm happy to chat.

@amusedbush thank you that's really helpful, I might give it a go if it becomes unbearable!

Currently 10lb down so something is going right at least 😊

HoldMyCoffee · 06/07/2024 11:41

Hi, so my first week I felt great, the noise disappeared and it felt so easy, I took my second one yesterday and the urge to eat cheesecake is overwhelming.. is there hope the quiet will come back or am I already done on the 0.25?

Unfortunately there is no official expectation of appetite suppression on 0.25mg but it varies from person to person. The only doses considered "therapeutic" are 1.7 and 2.4, and everything before that is just to get your body used to the medication.

Some people are "super responders" who feel the effects immediately and never need to titrate up but the majority of people only feel it on the higher doses. I personally didn't experience any reduction in appetite/food noise until my second 1.0mg injection.

Every time you inject, a little bit is left over from your previous injections so it builds up in your system week on week. Seeing as you had no food noise last week, hopefully your second dose kicks in soon - it's miserable when you feel hungry! In the meantime though, just make sure you're drinking plenty and prioritise protein 😊

Hi all , can I join too please 👋

I've just bitten the bullet and ordered Wegovny today after thinking about it for ages.

I'm really nervous about starting and hoping to get some support and chat along the way.

Starting weight is 17st 8lbs - have a huge family holiday at the start of October so that's my first goal

merrymelodies · 11/07/2024 07:30

Hi all! Today I switched from 1.5 of Ozempic to 1 of Wegovy and already my appetite has almost vanished but my stomach is upset.

StellaAndCrow · 13/07/2024 18:45

Hi, is there a beginners-type thread for people who are still thinking about it and not sure of the basics (where/how to get it, which medication etc)? Thanks very much.

I believe there are other threads about Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro etc. under the topic of weight loss.

justsaxy · 13/07/2024 22:23

I took my first dose of 1.7 today. I have struggled to eat 1,000 calories but I managed (with the help of ice cream). I am now wondering if I will regret that tomorrow... let's see.

justsaxy · 13/07/2024 22:24

@amusedbush I like the idea of doing clicks. On Saxenda I didn't go past 1.8, so I am still getting to grips with Wegovy. I need to sit and work out the clicks.

amusedbush · 26/07/2024 19:16

I didn't realise how long it has been since I last checked in on this thread Blush I hope you're all well.

It was my weigh-in this morning and I actually shot past my goal weight thanks to a surprise 2.6lbs loss. As promied, I have been eating more and losing a lot more slowly but I'm guessing my recent efforts in the garden contributed to this final "whoosh" on the scales; I was off work last week and spent hours every day lugging slabs, wooden sleepers, and bags of sand/cement/stones around my back garden.

Highest weight: 18st 5.2
Started Wegovy: 14st 11.2
Current weight: 9st 3.6 (BMI 21.6)

So, for the first time in my life, I'm at my goal weight and am now in the maintenance phase. My highest weight was 257.2lbs and I am now 129.6lbs, which means I have lost 127.6lbs - I'm just 1lb away from being literally half the woman I was in December 2021.

Amazing @amusedbush 👏🏾
I'm now 11 st 1 pd, 3 st 2 pd loss.
I definitely feel like the 2.4ml is having less of an effect though.

amusedbush · 29/07/2024 13:44

@Mookie81 that's brilliant, you must feel like a million dollars!

And I experienced the same when I moved from 1.7 to 2.4; it really took me by surprise after finally feeling proper appetite suppression at 1.7.

I do, healthwise as well as looking better.
I'm hoping to wean off before Xmas!

justsaxy · 31/07/2024 22:08

@amusedbush that is incredible! Well done!!!!

I am still losing slowly. But I did get to under 100k, finally! 1.7 seems to be working well for me.

Dare you post any body comparison photos? I love looking at them. It's excellent motivation.

Sorry for the laziness but I'm just going to copy and paste from my post upthread:

"Unfortunately there is no official expectation of appetite suppression on 0.25mg but it varies from person to person. The only doses considered "therapeutic" are 1.7 and 2.4, and everything before that is just to get your body used to the medication.

Some do feel the effects straight away but those people are the lucky few. It is way too soon to make any judgements about its effectiveness; I personally didn't experience any appetite suppression until my second 1.0mg dose. That was frustrating but, in fairness, the manufacturer doesn't claim Wegovy will work until you're on 1.7mg.

Thank you! And congratulations right back at you - you're doing great and I'm glad you're feeling good on 1.7.

I will find photos of me from my highest weight to do some comparisons. They'll be on DH's phone so I'll get him to send them over and then I'll post 😬
