There are so many weight loss injection threads, but I thought I'd start this for anyone feeling a bit deflated by their slower than average loses. It can be disheartening to see others losing multiple lbs per week when it is a slower process for some.

I’ve just ordered a 10mg pen, and some extra pen needles. I plan to do the hard twist for the bonus of my 7.5 I am on now and then move up. I did see someone post to say the newer pens won’t twist but can’t see much else about it.
I have had barely any side effects and a slow and steady weight loss, so didn’t want to risk another month on 7.5 and it not do much. It’s easier to order this week as I’m on half term to receive the pen so had to be decisive!
I should probably think myself lucky I am feeling so good and am a stone down; I think I’d prefer that to losing a stone every month and feeling rubbish!

Just got back from our holiday home & really pleased, as I still lost weight even with some naughty French wine & too many pastries! It has taken me ten months to loose 42lb/19kg. Hopefully next week I'll be at the 20kg/3 stone marker. This is slow guys! I want to loose 50kg in total, I started as morbidly obese. I was advised it would take at least 18 months to loose 15-22% of my initial bodyweight, I'm in that range already so I'm happy. It is a hard slog & I do get upset when I read people moaning about only having a 2lb loss a week. I'm thankful I'm not one of the 10% that WLI do not work for tbh. I have religiously gone up to a higher dose every month (as advised) & start my 15mg pen in November. (I swapped from Wegovy hence why it's taken longer). I have been told I'll probably start loosing 2lb/1kg a week at that point, so I've bought a festive green dress in a size 18 to celebrate Xmas & being slimmer this year; it's a tad tight on the belly & upper arms for my liking but hopefully won't be by then (it'll be a nice change from the usual black).
My advice, don't compare with other people, I went up & down that first kilo on the lowest dose & nearly gave up! It just wasn't high enough for me personally & it looks like I need the maximum dose to achieve good therapeutic levels. I'm lucky we can afford for me to be on WLI long term, paying privately.
I could not exercise much when I was morbidly obese but did what I could & tried my best & just walked as far as I could. I'm now cycling 20km a week & jogging 25km! I've even started Parkrun & aiming to join a beginners running group; need to get faster though as they want 5km in 40 mins! (As I loose weight I do get quicker as I'm not carrying those excess kilos & my stamina increases).
Keep plodding on, be patient, hopefully we will get there even if slowly! 😎

@Sadteacher, I used the syringe method to extract the bonus dose so I knew what the amount in the bonus dose was. Was a bit scared to do it, but it was fine, and I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to needles. I have gone up every time and am currently on 7.5. The worst side effects were on 5 mg, where I felt sick most of the time. In my first 3 weeks on 2.5I, I was on holiday for 2 of them and in 3 weeks lost 5.5 pounds. After that, it settled into an average of 1.3 pounds a week - so far, I have lost 13 pounds. Just got back from another holiday - 7 nights (I am making up for lost time as I couldn't afford holidays in my 40s and 50s and now finally retired) The last couple of days I ate a bit more and drank alcohol. I jabbed before my holiday and then jabbed on my return as I barely took any luggage. Decided not to get weighed until next week as I don't want to feel bad about any possible gains. When I am at home, I don't drink alcohol and try to stick to around 1000 calories, and I am still a slow loser...my goal is to lose another stone and the extra pound. Will still be above the top end of recommended BMI by around 2 pounds but will be lightest I have been since my thirties. I have always struggled with weight but managed to keep it within 2 stones over my goal for a number of years..still a lot on my under 5 foot frame but feels achievable to lose it with MJ...it does get a bit boring though. Good luck with your bonus dose!

@GoddessCrone, thanks for sharing your thoughts, and well done on your progress. I find this thread very helpful and supportive and not too busy so that I can't keep up. A few people know I am on the injections, and one of my friends started at the same time. My fella is very supportive without saying a lot. But I don't like to talk about it too much for fear of boring everyone, so it's great to have another place to chat or just read other people's stories. I dip into other threads as well and it was particularly helpful at the beginning. All the very best and welcome if you haven't been on this thread before.

Delphigirl · 31/10/2024 11:49

Hi everyone - my slooooooooow but consistent weight loss continues, have lost 20lbs in 20 weeks - that includes 3.5 weeks of holidays when I had no losses and a small amt of gains.
so I reckon I will lose at least 7lbs more before my big Xmas party in 7 weeks which will get me down to 11st9 from my starting point of 13st9. My goal is 10st5 so still a bit of way to go!
im still on mountjaro 10 (on my 2nd pen) but contemplating a rise to 12.5.

Azuresky68 · 31/10/2024 13:57

@Delphigirl, well done on your steady progress... just what I needed right now. I've been on holiday for a week and too scared to get weighed...going to wait a few days so I don't get disheartened. Jabbed with 7.5 as soon as I got back last night, and I am not hungry at all.

Delphigirl · 31/10/2024 14:28

Thanks @Azuresky68 . I’m sure you will be fine - my prob was I stupidly left my pen at home for both holidays because I’m an idiot (well on the 2nd one I brought an empty pen and managed to get a bonus dose out but not a full dose). The small amount I gained was gone within a week of return. Onwards and upwards! I mean downwards! 🤣

Delphigirl · 31/10/2024 14:32

@GoddessCrone that is such good advice not to compare to others. I’ve lost 20lbs! That is fab no matter how long it has taken and whether someone else lost 40 in the same time. You are doing brilliantly I think and I’m in awe of the 25km jogging a week. Incredible! Your dress sounds lovely and I’m sure you will look fab 💃

TimeIretired · 31/10/2024 18:46

@Sadteacher I only managed to twist and extract the bonus dose from the very first pen. Wasted a few needles trying later ones. Even got hubby to try and whilst he did manage to make them twist they wouldn’t depress and dispense the remaining dose. I’ve purchased needles and like others, extract that way. You tend to get around .7 so it’s like an interim dose when you are still moving up.

nationaltreasureDA · 02/11/2024 08:57

I have found this thread very helpful so thanks for everyone's posts. I had a plateau last month with my weight going up and down with the same 2lbs,. Now on 7.5mg and today the scale moved downwards - only 1lb but still! Overall 19lbs lost since the last week of August -another 2stone+ to go.

Azuresky68 · 02/11/2024 14:20

@nationnationaltreasureDA well done on your loss! I think MJ helps to stay in a weight loss programme for the long haul...slow and steady!

ShrinkingMama · 02/11/2024 17:35

Hi everyone,

Please may I join you?

I have a lot to lose and I'm still very much at the beginning. Injection 4 today but I have only lost 5lb so far, with only 1/2lb this week. A bit disappointing when you see huge losses others are reporting but I have a long way to go and trying to be positive and hope I will manage it in a healthy way.

TryingToHelpBut · 02/11/2024 18:18

@ShrinkingMama the good thing with this way of weightloss is that before when I lost slowly, I'd give up. Now I've been on this since April and I'm down 30 plus pounds - I don't need constant 'loss motivation' if you know what I mean . I just plod on and it adds up eventually.
I've got one measly ounce left until I'm no longer in the obese zone! I'm not going to hit it tomorrow as I'm feeling quite bloated but it's so very close....

LeafUsAlone · 02/11/2024 18:19

@ShrinkingMama welcome and well done on your losses so far! I have a long way to go too, so we can ramble along together a couple of pounds at a time

ShrinkingMama · 03/11/2024 08:14

@TryingToHelpBut and @LeafUsAlone thank you for letting me join. I definitely hope I will also manage to keep going even if weight loss is slow, as I have a long journey ahead. But each pound is great!

That's a great achievement @TryingToHelpBut

Azuresky68 · 03/11/2024 08:44

@ShrinkingMama welcome to the thread! This place is very supportive as we all plod along and keep sticking with it, knowing that a pound a week is pretty normal and not feeling gutted when we don't have huge losses or stay the same/gain. I put my scales in a different place and am not weighing until Wednesday. That's two weeks since my last weigh in. I used to get on the scales 3/4 times a day. I felt a bit bloated after a weeks holiday. Returned on Wednesday. Back on track now so hoping to see a loss over 2 weeks, even if it's just a pound. 2 pounds would bring me into my last stone but for me a pound a week is realistic and every pound is a win. Have a great Sunday x

DropOfffArtiste · 03/11/2024 09:38

4.2kg down since I started Wegovy 1st Sept. I'm on 1mg and still pretty hungry. I'd been plateauing for a couple of weeks and only managed to shift 0.5kg on 1200kcals and exercising a lot. Anyway, plodding on.

15kg lost and 15kg to go...

SnacklessWonder · 03/11/2024 09:44

I speed up, then I slow down. I am 6lb away from goal and feel like this 6lb is going to take about 6 months at this rate! I'm still on 5mg but am planning to start moving down as I don't want to be on MJ forever however I think I'll stick for another few weeks and see what happens.

Good luck and don't give up. Do you mind me asking how long it has taken you to get near to your goal and how much have you lost? It's taken me about 10 weeks to lose 13 pounds and i went up every month, now on 7.5 mg.I have a stone more to lose to get where I want to be. That would take me to 9 stone. Last time I weighed 9 stone was before my 31 year old was born. The lowest I have been since then was during lockdown when I got back to 9 stone 4 but struggled to stay that weight. Spent 2 years between 9 St 4 and 10 stone...always been a struggle but not giving up!

SnacklessWonder · 03/11/2024 17:44

@Azuresky68 I started around 12th August I think it was at 11st 7.8lb and am now 9st 6.4lb after 12 weeks. Some weeks I didn't lose more than 0.5lb and then some I lost 4lb. It's been quite erratic but it's moving very very slowly now. Aiming to get to 9st though I'm okay with the weight I am now, however, I am aware that I'll gain a few pounds so kind of want to get to 9st to get that buffer.

I've done 5 weeks on 2.5mg + bonus dose, then the rest of the time has been on 5mg. I'm not moving up any further now. I think I've got 5mg and bonus dose left in current pen, and then a new 5mg pen in the fridge, but I may go back down to 2.5mg with that.

Totally not in control of eating over the next 3 weeks due to work and travel so just hoping for the best and that the MJ will at least stop me overeating.

Ifyounevergiveup · 03/11/2024 19:13

Hello everyone. May I ask a question which will show how weird my head is?

So. I’m currently 11 stone 2. My brain seems to think this is reasonable and nothing to worry about because it remembers being 11 stone 4 (when I was 14. 45 years ago!). Since I broadly lose a pound a week, I’ll be crossing into 10 stone something in a fortnight or so. And I’m really struggling with the concept. I don’t even understand why my brain cares, but I almost feel like a vertigo sensation when I think about it. It’s a completely unexpected feeling and I don’t understand it. Can I ask if anyone has experienced reaching a weight they don’t remember ever being, and if it felt just…dizzying? I mean, obviously it’s not going to put me off, there’s no urge to self-sabotage, it just seems incomprehensible and weird.

Any similar experience out there? I’m perfectly willing to believe it’s my strange thoughts playing silly buggers again, if not!

NaivePrey · 03/11/2024 19:57

@SnacklessWonder glad I am not the only one with this fast loss - lost 2.5kg one week and then no loss at all for a couple of weeks which is demoralising. I’ve weighed myself this morning and have lost 4.8kg in 10 weeks which feels so slow! Especially when I have around 25kg to go! I saw a photo of me from a work event and I looked terrible 😢
hope everyone else is doing ok - I’m away all week so will try and be mindful about what I am eating and hope that the walking around will help shift some more weight!

Azuresky68 · 03/11/2024 21:30

@SnacklessWonder well done! I know I shouldn't compare, but you have done so much better than me.. I started around the same time as you and have only lost 13 pounds. Currently 10 stone 1 pound. I am also aiming for 9 stone. I have been averaging 1000 calories a day, although not quite managed that when on holiday. After my last holiday I am waiting for another week before I get weighed. Good luck with getting to your goal x

letshavetea · 04/11/2024 04:48

I took my 6th dose yesterday evening. So, over five weeks I’ve lost 4 and a 1/4 pounds. I’m going to stay on 2.5 for this month as we go on holiday next weekend for two weeks. I do feel suppression and I’m eating an average of 1300 calories a day. Nice to be on this thread with others whose loss is slower! I’ll just keep going.

Azuresky68 · 04/11/2024 23:58

@letshavetea well done and keep on going!
