There are so many weight loss injection threads, but I thought I'd start this for anyone feeling a bit deflated by their slower than average loses. It can be disheartening to see others losing multiple lbs per week when it is a slower process for some.

@SnacklessWonder well done

StaySpicy · 11/09/2024 16:12

Am down 2lbs in the past 7 days (I weigh every day so don't have a "This week I lost..." thing). I'm actually thinking of trying some size 14 jeans! It feels so good to have my first stone off - and staying off!

Asda asked for another set of photos for the first time since April. But I'm clearly still fat because they approved my first 2.4mg pen 😆

Delphigirl · 11/09/2024 19:15

Whoo hoo well done @StaySpicy ! Brilliant! You are not fat if you can get into size 14 jeans!

StaySpicy · 11/09/2024 22:28

Ah, thanks, @Delphigirl, but I definitely am, at nearly 12st and only 5'1! No idea if I'd actually get in a pair of size 14!

How's your half pound been today?! Absent or back like an old friend? 😆

Delphigirl · 11/09/2024 22:39

It has been absent for two days now, but I expect it will be back tomorrow 🤣🤣

Speedweed · 12/09/2024 06:37

Six month checkin: I've lost 33lb. Delighted with that, although it's been slow going. Am on 7.5, which seems to be working well.

Have another 50 or so pounds to go, so assuming I'll be on this medicine for another year to get there.

Not really following a diet, but eating way less overall. Here's to getting into a 12 again, and tucking my tops into trousers once again!

Delphigirl · 12/09/2024 10:59

That’s so fantastic @speedweed! I really hope I can show that loss at 6 months. I’ve lost 12 lbs since 13 June, so 3 months. (My fluctuating half pound seems finally to have vanished and I’ve gone down another pound yesterday - yay!). Really can’t wait until I can say I’ve finally lost a stone….

Speedweed · 12/09/2024 12:46

@Delphigirl Good luck - you'll get there! I was so frustrated and almost gave up, but it's amazing how all the little losses suddenly stack up into quite substantial progress. I had some big stalls, but our bodies figure it out in the end!

NavigatingMounjaro · 12/09/2024 14:36

Just after some thoughts really...

Started MJ in June '24 and have only lost a stone in that time. My start weight was relatively low at 12st 12lbs, and as of today I weigh 11st 11lbs.

I have had really good appetite suppression throughout my journey so far and have been eating in a calorie deficit as determined by an online TDEE calculator. I obviously started on 2.5mg, but have stayed on 5mg since week 5 as I cannot see the point in moving up a dose if I already have strong suppression and am doing everything right. I was under the impression that the MJ helped to reduce your appetite which, of course, in turn helped you to eat less and therefore lose weight. I have now been the same weight for 5 weeks!

Does anyone know what the benefits of moving up to a stronger dose will be if I already have little to no hunger on 5mg? I have two doses of 5mg left and am deliberating whether to move up to 7.5mg as a last ditch attempt to get the scales moving in the right direction or just stop after my last dose.

All thoughts/ideas/suggestions welcome! :)

SnacklessWonder · 12/09/2024 16:16

Are you sure you're in a calorie deficit? Are you tracking everything?

My maintenance calories turned out to be lower than I originally thought (1550) which means I need to eat around 1000 calories to lose weight.

Yes I am. I use the NutraCheck app to track everything, and my deficit calories are 1159 per day.

@NavigatingMounjaro I’m afraid eating less is the only answer I’ve come across and frankly that doesn’t work much. I have lost less than you at the same weight: 12 stone 3 to 11 stone 9 since mid June. I started off eating 1300 calories because allegedly my resting caloric need is 1200, so I figured any and all activity would be deficit calories. Then I reduced to 1100 because I was getting nowhere. This week (it’s Thursday)I’ve averaged 1000 calories a day. Still no weight loss. Frankly I’ve got to the stage where I don’t expect to lose any weight. Being the completer finisher that I am, I won’t stop until 15mg has also failed (I’m currently on 7.5mg so someway to go) after all, my brain would convince itself that if I’d only finished the course it would have worked. But I have no faith left in the process. I’ve come off the main thread because it’s making me bitter and I don’t want to be, I want to be happy for losers. But it’s hard. If I were eating this little off Mj I’d be losing weight hand over fist. So wtf? The only upside is I’m not hungry. But why would that matter when I’m not thinner, either?

You’ve summed up my thoughts and feelings exactly, so thank you! x

@NavigatingMounjaro I’ve been refreshing on the research I did before starting. I had forgotten (probably wilfully) that 15% of research participants didn’t lose at least 5% of their weight in trials. And the trial period was 18 months. So fifteen people will lose (at our weight) less than 8lb, if anything, in a year and a half.

A YEAR AND A HALF.

For the reasons I gave in my last post I know I’m going to have to see it through. But these figures are sobering.

Oh wow, that's quite astounding actually! Ive been on this for 5 months and am just over a stone down so I feel a bit better now - thank you for posting

Gained 0.5lb today. Not even possibly as I've not eaten over 1000 calories in weeks. So won't let it bring me down today as it must be water or 💩

I'm assuming that's people who made no other lifestyle changes and weren't in a calorie deficit because that alone should make you lose weight!

Pinkyp22 · 13/09/2024 08:57

After a horrible week on my first 7.5 dose, I have lost absolutely nothing 😭
I do have a nasty cold type virus so now I wonder how much of the feeling unwell was actually illness not the mounjaro.
I am thinking of going to go back down to 5mg for this week, then doing 6mg if I feel need to

This is me 100%!
Some days I'm practically starving myself as I'm eating not even enough for a bird, but the weight just isn't disappearing!

I've lost just under two stone since March!

It's weird

Ifyounevergiveup · 13/09/2024 11:45

@SnacklessWonder wish I could believe it, Snackless, but since I’m at the gym four times a week, getting steps in and now down to 1100 calories a day I’m sure you can understand why I’m starting to lose faith. You will be right, of course, but I suspect if a drug has super sensitive takers it’s almost bound to have the opposite - people who get little or no effect from it. 15% is too many to be all people who couldn’t be arsed to participate fully in a trial they chose to join 😔

Ifyounevergiveup · 13/09/2024 11:46

@ihatecoffee hello! Can I be nosy and ask what dose you’ve reached?

Sorry Pinky, I meant to reply earlier than this since we’re in parallel. You’ll know I’ve not lost either so I won’t rehash those posts. You know I had really bad side effects from my first 7.5mg but good news; I did the second full dose last night (I know I said I might delay it but I wanted to replicate the first dose to see if I reacted differently and so far, a couple of little sulphur burps and that’s it. I seem to recall the tsunami 💩 hit on Saturday last week, so I’m not complacent, just hopeful that there won’t be a repeat. I’ll keep you posted if only to give you anecdotal evidence in your 5 or 7.5 dilemma (or indeed 6 at 40 clicks which we were musing about!). Hope you’re doing better.

Its soul destroying I know, im trying not to dwell but I saw someone on Instagram who lost THREE stone in 3 months 😱
I know I shouldn't care and compare, and this individuas starting weight was a lot more than mine but really, why is this so much harder for me. Feeling quite sad about it all.
I wish I could have a glass of wine but ive gone off everything after the 7.5 has absolutely wiped my appetite and desire for anything completely

Really good to hear you've had no further nasty side effects with another 7.5 dose. I guess I am ok but I am absolutely shattered, which is not unusual for me as I work and study all week, but this is a different kind of fatigue.
I am a little torn between trying another 7.5 but I am not sure I can cope with this level of fatigued, perhaps as im feeling under the weather some of this is down to that and not the mounjaro.
I felt great last week, with more energy than I've had in a long time, based on that I'm thinking 5mg , I could try 6 or even 6.25 but Im a bit scared - im due to inject this evening but really have not decided. I shouldn't miss a dose I think, I will have to do something.

SnacklessWonder · 13/09/2024 15:44

Such a frustrating process isn't it. I've been so good, not gone over calories in 5 weeks and gained bloody 1/2 a pound. Going to have a glass of and wine and some chips tonight and give myself the night off from salad. Although to be fair like you @Pinkyp22 I've not fancied wine at all and chips don't taste the same...

Moving to 5mg on Sunday, bit scared of the side effects as I've read so many horror stories but not had any effects on 2.5mg (or 3.33mg which is what I did last week) other than feeling tired really.
