hello I know there are a few threads in here in for this but would like to start a new thread, for people starting out!!

I have stage 4 endometriosis and have been slowly gaining weight over past few years. Have tried so many things to shift it, calorie counting, exercise, high protein, low carbs and I loose a few pounds but that’s it!

just taken my first dose of mounjaro and really hoping that it works for me!

anyone else just starting??? Anyone got any great motivation for those starting!!

@Belladonna432 thats fantastic, well done you. Have you felt ok? I took my se one dose last Thursday and am doing well.

Yes feeling much better this time Thankyou, I stick with the 5mg. I’ve had hardly any nausea, keep getting a headache but think I’m not drinking enough.

not sure whether to step up to the 7.5mg dose, think I may stick with 5mg for next month and see if the results continue.

have you had any losses yet??? Has it helped with feeling full??

I hope everyone is doing well with their Mounjaro?

I took my third dose yesterday, looking forward to going up to 5mg.

I've had a bit of a weird few weeks on it though! On day one I was 12 stone 10.9, I had to take my second dose early at 5 days as I was going on holiday and weighed 12 stone 7. I then had ten days holiday at an all Inclusive and came back having gained 2lbs and I had my third dose the next day. The appetite suppressant has luckily kicked in again today. I had two Linda mozeralla burgers and a salad, I couldn't finish the burgers and then I was full all day and am forcing down a protein shake. I'm aiming for 80g or more of protein a day, which is really difficult as a vegetarian, so I've been relying on protein shakes while I can't face food!

I was really disappointed to have gained weight on holiday but I think 2lbs over ten days at an all inclusive isn't that bad?

I had my 3 rd dose of 2.5 a day early on Friday and again I was boated had diarrhoea and I’m finding out I’m unable to eat certain stuff , which is annoying as I’m already restricting so much . I had a bit of pasta today and spend the following 2 hours in the toilet with the most awful colic and cold sweats . I’m nit eating much at all as I’m actually scared . Weight wise I lost a bit over 2 pounds so nothing really . I’m concern with the dose increase but looking forward at the same time . The 5 mg pen arrived yesterday , still have one dose of the 2.5 and the 5th dose . Is an everyone having the 5 th dose ? How are you having it ?

GreyFinch · 20/05/2024 05:36

@Anonymous2025 i had the 5th dose and just done a hard twist of the pen. I had to use the sleeve of my jumper to get more of a grip on it but it worked no problem at all. Hope you feel better soon, I’ve only noticed an issue after eating something like pizza or something greasy but it actually does the opposite to me and makes me constipated and uncomfortable. It’s funny how it’s effecting different people

ClawdiaCattipuss · 20/05/2024 09:14

I'm due my 4th dose this week, I take it on a Wednesday. I'm on 2.5 MJ.

Could I take it today? Several reasons but I'm not getting the suppression I was and Monday would suit me much better in terms of taking it

So obvs there's been 5 days between doses so far as I took it last Wednesday morning

Belladonna432 · 20/05/2024 10:06

@ClawdiaCattipuss i believe you can take a further dose as long as it has been 4 days. So that shouldn’t be a problem

@Anonymous2025 that sounds awful! I hope you are feeling better today. I haven’t had any symptoms like that just awful nausea, and headaches. Maybe it would be worth sticking to the 2.5 for a little longer to see if your body gets used to it abit?? Sounds rubbish and you don’t want to restrict to much. Maybe try protein high foods, your stomach may be struggling with the carbs.

@GreyFinch this 5th dose, do all pens have it?? I’ve got the 5mg one at the moment?? How does it work???

Hello! Type 2 diabetic here, on Metformin and I hope you don’t mind me asking questions?
Firstly, do you need ID to buy Mounjaro online? Whilst my doctor is happy to prescribe it, unfortunately the private market is more lucrative than the NHS so diabetics can’t get any. That said, I have zero ID.

Secondly, is anyone taking Metformin and Mounjaro? If so, how are you getting on with both and are your blood sugars reducing (as well as weight loss)?

I don’t seem to be losing weight at all on Metformin and wondered if Mounjaro would kick start everything?

Thank you!

Belladonna432 · 20/05/2024 15:10

Hi @RapunzelsSplitEnds i don’t think I needed ID for it I just gave all my details, GP etc. And then uploaded the pictures.

thats a shame that you can’t get it on the NHS. I know you can go on the weight management program, but it’s a long wait before you will get the injections.

im not diabetic but hopefully you will some advice from someone else in the group.

Thank you, Belladonna.
I tried to get Mounjaro from Med Express but they asked for photo ID. I had sent them pretty grim ‘before ‘ photos as asked, permission to tell my doctor, etc but to no avail. My bus pass was refused!

Im on the (very long) waiting list for the Weight management but am desperate to begin losing weight as I have six and a half stone to lose. Feel so down about it all as I’m a life long vegan who has been taking Huel replacement meals for a while now but I’m still gaining weight.

Try Asda. I have just refilled my order and no photo ID was required on either. So could be worth using them.

bless you, it really sounds like you could benefit from this medication. The weight management list is sooo long and It’s heartbreaking when you are trying so hard and not loosing weight.

give Asda a shot, if not could you apply for a provisional driving license just so you have some official ID?? Let us know how you get on. Asda is slightly more expensive but you do have access to a doctor whom you can message about side effects etc and they are really helpful

I started on Saturday morning and have had awful side effects.

Bloating, nausea and vomiting. I wake up feeling sick during the night. I can only stomach about 800 cals a day.

I don't think I can continue - my job is physical and demanding and I can't function properly...

Has anyone had this? Does it get better?

I was naughty and started on 5mg and felt exactly the same, it does pass and does get easier. I would persist if possible. I have a very active job in nhs, I did need a couple of days off work after one of the injections but the side effects have calmed right down now. And have just ordered 7.5mg am hoping I won’t need any more than that. But still nervous about the side effects when that kicks in.

for the first 2/3 days after injections I probably can’t even eat 800 cals. But I’m not stressing about it, as I eat more towards the end of the week. Hopefully you feel better soon

A quick update- a huge thank you for recommending Asda Doctors. I managed to put in an order but this morning I received an email from them refusing sale as I was a diabetic already on Metformin. I understand their caution but damn!
That said, they are offering £40 off the first low dose pens until the end of this month if that is of any help to anyone?

Sye · 22/05/2024 19:16

I started on Monday at 2.5 had very few symptoms, headache on Tuesday and a little tired but that’s all, not sure if it’s too early, but I don’t feel it’s curbed my eating habits.
i had a hysterectomy young and never been able to get weight off after the children.
you name it I have tried it! I was very interested to read the different cost and experiences for purchasing, I bought mine from Superdrug, but it was very expensive.
Any advise on if I should up the dose or stick with the 2.5?
PS - love reading everyone’s experiences and achievements 😊

UnnTheDeepMinded · 23/05/2024 16:43

Hope nobody minds if I join the thread!

Had my first 2.5 jab this afternoon and desperate to kickstart my weightloss!

I was nearly four stones lighter before lockdown and super fit. But injuries, perimenopause, working from home in elasticated waistbands and, to be totally honest, a total lack of motivation, has all contributed to the weight gain.

I’m just hoping the carrot of looser jeans and bras will keep my motivation up!

Sassenach85 · 23/05/2024 16:58

Hi! I had my first 2.5 dose on Sunday night.

I had instant suppression from the Monday! It was so surreal.

I experienced all over body aches like I was bruised and even my bra straps hurt. That eased off though. Apart from that I am colder. No other effects.

I keep checking the scales but nothing positive to report on that side. I’m reading other threads to figure out how to access this “bonus” dose I hear about.

Sye · 23/05/2024 19:52

I believe we will all benefit from this, but I must say, I’ve started to feel hungry again 😔
Ive read that some move up a dose before the end of 4 weeks to get things moving, anyone any experience in this?

HorsingAround2022 · 23/05/2024 21:25

Looking forward to starting the 5mg pen next week, I've only lost 4lbs in three weeks which is disappointing as I've seen really big losses for other people.

I've got a code for 10% off with Asda doctors, please dm me if you would like it, I think it has to be for a first order.

That’s all is see, big losses which is great, but I don’t feel any change, still looking for those treats 🙈

My last dose has definitely worn off because I was going mad for little snacks today!

That’s why I was wondering if you can take it early to stop the craving for treats

HorsingAround2022 · 30/05/2024 09:34

How is everyone getting on? I had my first dose of 5mg today so I'm hoping for some bigger losses now I've moved up a dose.

GreyFinch · 30/05/2024 13:20

@HorsingAround2022 I’ve just had my 2nd 5mg dose and I’m down 19.7lb so far! Having a break from weighing for this week as it is TOTM and feeling bloated but still making good progress. Luckily no side affects from moving up to the 5mg which I’ve seen others have suffered with. How’s your losses so far?

UnnTheDeepMinded · 30/05/2024 13:28

Just had my second jab. First week no side effects apart from the desired lack of hunger.

Lost about 5lb, but some of that will have been premenstrual weight.

Hoping this keeps up!

Hi, I am the same, Imodium and water is best.
the pains are not great they, even made me think of stopping until I tried Imodium.
Do as I’m trying to do and persevere.
Good luck.
