Hi all!

I'm approaching my 1 year anniversary of Mounjaro (I started mid April last year) and today my BMI is normal for the first time in about 20 years! I'm down 55lbs and I've not gone above 7.5. Majority of all my bloodwork is now in the normal range and my fatty liver has disappeared.

Advice-
Drinks lots and lots of water, add electrolytes where possible
Add collagen for hair loss (I have lost quite a bit at one point)
Take your vitamins!!
Keep protein high
Try to exercise where you can to reduce muscle loss

What a fantastic achievement and great advice.

I do NOT like the Boots method of ordering:

You can only order between 8am and 6pm. (Why can't you place your order any time and it just be APPROVED during certain hours?

It's very footery with the having to fill in an online questionnaire which doesn't save properly.

They don't email you when you get a message, you have to keep manually going in and checking.

Just not a smooth experience at all!!

So...last year I was on Ozempic and lost two stone. One stone has gone back on....
The shortages happened and I couldn't get hold of it other than at a hefty price.

I tried Wegovy but weirdly no appetite suppression, and no weight has been lost...

So I've just been approved for Mounjaro

Fingers crossed!

Exactly the same as me!

Was on Oz, lost 25lb, couldn't get it and then weg didn't work at all. Put a stone back on.

Ordered this in the hope that the extra ingredient helps.

Have dug my collagen out.

Don't think thats how concentration works.
10mg is 10mg, 5mg is 5mg, no matter whether it's contained in 0.6ml or 10ml.

The drug doesn't just hang about your body within it's 0.6ml of injection fluid.
It attaches to its target receptors. If a dose has 10 zillion GLP molecules, then those 10 zillion molecules will attach to the receptors, regardless of how much liquid they were injected in.

correct. It’s concentration, not dilution that matters.

It’s called the ratio proportion method.

Think of the drug like a person in a car. It will always be one person in a car no matter how big the car. Does that make sense??

Morning all… day 4, and I’m a kilo lighter. Not too shabby. I feel good! No side effects… yet.

SW 89.1kg
CW 88.1kg

lowest weight (saxenda) 81.6kg

We are almost the exact same! 4 days too...

92kg SW
89.9kh CW

Lowest I was on Ozempic was 79kg.

Makes perfect sense to me, I work in a lab and prepare solutions a million times a day!

It's not even the cheapest place to get it although obviously a known retailer.

Has anyone had experience of switching suppliers? I ordered a starter pack from Bolt which was a 2.5mg and a 5mg pen combined. The 5mg pen costs £183 from Bolt. But Med Express are currently selling the 5mg pen for only £149. That's £34 cheaper. If I am going to be on this for 6 months that could be a saving of £200 assuming they keep similar prices over that time. But can I switch supplier easily especially once I have lost some weight and by BMI is under 30?

BlackFriYay · 19/03/2024 12:57

I've just done my first injection.

After doing the first prime I didn't realise how quickly the knob turns, I went back a few clicks just incase I was going too far, then realised I wasn't, so carried on clicking. Is that OK?

Also, there was some liquid at the injection site after I'd injected it. Have I messed it up?

(ADHD brain and have no faith in ability to do things right) 😔

Continuing Mounjaro... Part 2
Investinmyself · 19/03/2024 13:13

It was a lot of clicks on mine to dose 1.
No blood for me but I went into fat roll on my tummy.

I got there in the end with the clicks. It sure is alot.

I'm not worried about the spot of blood, more so the drop of medication liquid being wasted 😁

FlappyFish · 19/03/2024 13:36

I take these for electrolytes. They don’t taste as rancid as Dioralyte.

I guess the had to set the concentration as such for the 2.5 so the 7mg was consistent. It does mess with the head a bit.

Namechange25793 · 19/03/2024 15:05

Wow that’s amazing @loverofpants thanks for posting and sharing your tips… it’s inspiring to all of us at the beginning of our journeys!

Namechange25793 · 19/03/2024 15:18

I’m sad to see there are quite a few negative and judgmental posts about this thread elsewhere on Mumsnet. Saying we’re eating crappy food, are too stupid to understand the science behind it and lazy for taking the easy fix.

This has reinforced my decision to not tell a single soul beyond my very supportive mum and husband about this medication. Even if someone asks, I will lie.

I think it’s probably some jealousy- some slim people have worked very hard to stay slim, especially in the competitive/ highly achieving circles I’ve mixed with.

I have a horrible memory of a high flying, attractive and stylish colleague slagging off a “fat” client calling her a lazy cow etc, criticising the woman’s intellect because of her weight. I said nothing because I was more junior and I regret that. I’ve a high achieving friend who suddenly started hanging out with another friend because of her drastic weight loss. So many women have a toxic attitude towards weight management and judge us for it.

I have some great friends, but I know that some people judge fat women because they see loss of control as a character flaw … they also dislike the body positivity movement… and now they will criticise women like us because we have a BMI high enough to access to weight loss medication. I will avoid any talk of weight loss so I don’t fall into any traps.

That was all a bit deep but needed to share!

loverofpants · 19/03/2024 15:31

@Namechange25793 @Investinmyself thank you both!

ObsidianTree · 19/03/2024 15:52

That's a shame that people are being so negative. I won't ask where @Namechange25793 !

I am glad that we have found like minded people to talk to. I don't care if I am seen as cheating. Would rather do this than constantly fail at each diet after a few weeks!

Like you I won't be telling anyone in real life tho! (Apart from husband) as I know people will think I'm cheating etc! So don't care to hear the negativity

OP posts:
ObsidianTree · 19/03/2024 15:54

Also, all of us are privately funding this. So not like we are getting it free on the NHS. In fact we are saving nhs money by hopefully not needing help in the future with health issues brought on by obesity.

So its no one's business what we do!

OP posts:
Namechange25793 · 19/03/2024 16:04

Thanks @ObsidianTree you are the voice of reason. Haters gonna hate!

It is good to have this community… to support each other, ask questions…and I think people here are eating pretty healthy just less of it and cutting out the snacks. So the criticism is not even true! People will see what they want to, won’t they?

ObsidianTree · 19/03/2024 16:06

@loverofpants thank you for the advice and well done on your achievement :)

OP posts:
ObsidianTree · 19/03/2024 16:10

@Namechange25793 yes I think people have been eating healthily etc. I have been reading some reddit threads and some people in American have removed fatty liver and other illnesses, so as far as I am concerned, this drug is helping people in a lot of ways. So I believe it's worth paying for!

OP posts:
Soukmyfalafel · 19/03/2024 16:19

I couldn't give a shit what people think. Whatever works. It is better to pay for something and benefit from the weight loss than keep failing and putting pressure on the NHS due to bad physical and MH. The goal is being a healthy weight and lifestyle changes, that is all that matters.

I would take what is posted on MN with a pinch of salt too. I wonder if these slim ladies have had botox or face-lifts? Maybe had their teeth done? Or maybe they dye their hair? We all cheat!

I haven't eaten great today because I have been busy and here there and everywhere! However I have also squeezed in a workout and will be eating better this evening. I have eaten more salad and fruit than before and made a conscious decision to have half of my plate veg or salad most of the time, purely because the idea of a fry up or slab of pizza is vom inducing.

If that's how they feel, it's their choice. Why are they lurking on these threads finding out what people eat on these jabs anyway? 🤔😂

Investinmyself · 19/03/2024 16:23

I’ve found this and previous thread very helpful and supportive.
I’ve told no one in real life.
I’ve been cc/gym for months and barely lost anything. Family telling me to stop as it was getting me so down. Week 1 and I feel so much better than I have for a few years.

Onedaylikethi5 · 19/03/2024 16:29

The Reddit is so inspiring. Really helping me along.
