SW 12th Jan 15.4
CW 9th Feb 14.4

not quite seeing or feeling it on body yet but begin 0.50mg tonight
keep up good work all, we should be bikini ready by summer! 😂

wibble44 · 09/02/2024 11:24

I did my first jab on Tuesday night. Completely lost my appetite immediately.

I've lost 3lbs already but I've also done loads of exercise.

Woke up this morning feeling really queasy though. Is this normal? Almost like morning sickness.

Sounds about right to me! Had v mild queasiness to start with. Now hardly at all - just don't dose 4 of 0.25mg and ready for the 0.5mg next Tuesday.

Big change is 'just not fancying it' - for example went to supermarket this morning, hadn't had breakfst so was a bit peckish - this would normally be a huge red flag that a car binge was in the offing! But having looked at all the crap I just didn't feel that strongly about having it and had some roasted corn instead - not the healthiest of breakfasts but sure beats what I would have gone for pre-pen!

Notforbeef · 09/02/2024 13:10

Hi all, joining in for a bit of support - and hope!

I am on wegovy for 4 weeks now, just took my first 0.5 injection on Wednesday. Up until then, I wasn't noticing any change in appetite on the 0.25. I was quite worried it wouldn't work for me. I am a binge eater, and eat even when absolutely stuffed - everyone said I wouldn't be able to on this, but I still could on the 0.25. But since taking my first 0.5 I've been so bloated, had abdominal pain and constipation I've not fancied food at all. I'm hoping these symptoms subside a lot, as it's been extremely painful - but that the feeling of not wanting to eat continues! I'm learning I've got to listen to my body - something I'm not used to doing.
Good luck everyone x

Oldandcobwebby · 09/02/2024 13:24

Just taken my first 0.25 injection. I had been concerned that I would baulk at doing it, but the reality was that it was ridiculous easy and pain free, so I was just being a wuss!

My starting weight is 14st 1.3lb.
My target is 12st or a little lower.

I'm really fed up of feeling bloated all the time

LunaLovegoodsLeftEyebrow · 09/02/2024 15:27

Just done my 5th 1mg today. One thing I am finding a bit hard is family meals - we eat dinner together every night and I really am unable to eat much at all - say a small cup of food max at each meal.

Luckily my family are pretty oblivious - and none of them know I am on Wegovy, DH hasn’t noticed my 1 1/2 stone weight loss - but some days I can’t face anything at all and I end up pushing it round my plate and surreptitiously dropping bits under the table for the dog.

Took the dog to the vet today for vaccinations and she has put on 2 kg 🫣. I need to find another strategy.

Nicebloomers · 09/02/2024 15:52

@LunaLovegoodsLeftEyebrow my dog could do with going on doggy Wegovy 😂

LadyWithLapdog · 10/02/2024 16:43

It’s day 3 for me , just started 0.25. Definitely helping with not being hungry. I’ve felt more tired and sleepy, but I’d have plenty of reason for that. Maybe salivating more? Not sure. But no Gastro issues otherwise, no bloating, no diarrhoea etc. I still like the look and taste of food, but I’m eating less because I’m not starving hungry. Overall a positive experience so far.

I haven’t signed up for the coaching (thanks PP for your answer), as I don’t think it will be tailored enough. Just a hunch. I don’t want just generic emails or text messages, which I’m guessing is all that you’d get. Who knows? Maybe I’m doing them and myself a disservice.

I’ve signed up for a couple of free day passes at local gyms. I don’t think I’m ready for the gym yet but I’m worried about losing muscle mass. I’ve started some resistance band exercises at home.

Sorry for the essay. I hope everyone is doing ok.

LadyWithLapdog · 10/02/2024 16:49

@LunaLovegoodsLeftEyebrow don’t you keep the pen in the fridge? How come your family haven’t seen it? All mine know, as in I told them to be on the lookout for the parcel as I was at work. But they haven’t commented since, and I haven’t mentioned it either.

I also got myself into a right state before the injection, but it was ok. I had done plenty of it eg during gestational diabetes. I was thrown off by the pen and needles as they looked different to the video. In mine you have to change the needles, rather than being single use.

wibble44 · 11/02/2024 16:21

This drug is magic! I don't understand how I could do so much exercise, eat so little (although I am eating really good nutritious food) and not feel starving or weak?

In the past if I've done too much exercise without food I'd feel terrible, but I honestly feel great. How is this possible?

wibble44 · 11/02/2024 16:35

@Pushkinini with the .5mg pen from medexpress can you give yourself the lower .25 dose if you want? It's just so much cheaper than anywhere else but they dont offer a .25 pen

Gingerlygreen · 11/02/2024 16:37

I've been on it since November and am on the other thread but wanted to post in here to give encouragement to people in the early stages of Wegovy.

I've lost 29lbs so far and my clothes are falling off me, I do have side effects such as nausea and tiredness for the first few days after the jab but overall it's nowhere near as bad as being two stone heavier and struggling with everyday tasks plus saying no to friends because I'm ashamed of how I look.

I'm going to lose another 3 stone and it's the first time ever I've been confident that I will after years of the constant cycle of dieting and falling off the wagon.

Oh2beatsea · 11/02/2024 17:08

You are giving me hope, people 😁
I've been toying with the idea for a while as I've been overweight for so long.
Does anyone else have an underactive Thyroid (Hasimotos) and are having success with Wegovy?
What happens when you stop taking it? Does the weight stay off or creep back on?
Thanks.

LadyWithLapdog · 11/02/2024 18:07

@Oh2beatsea yes, sadly, you do put the weight back on if you don’t make other changes too. My understanding is that it suppresses appetite so you’re likely to start feeling hungry again after you stop it. I think that’s why it’s important to do other things as well - change to better diet overall, exercise, cut alcohol. Otherwise it’ll be just another expensive fad. IMO.

LadyWithLapdog · 11/02/2024 18:08

@Gingerlygreen thanks for the encouragement and well done!

Pushkinini · 11/02/2024 19:02

@wibble44 I guess you could if you counted the clicks. There are charts online that tell you how many clicks you would count. They may not prescribe 0.5 though if you haven't already done 0.25. They wanted to see proof of my earlier prescription from another supplier before they all owe me to have 0.5,

Cuzco · 11/02/2024 20:29

I think the biggest thing I will face (assuming this all works!) is mindset shift. It's really hard to change a habit, and my habit all my life has been too much wine chocolate and carbs.

I lost 19kg through will power and calorie counting three years ago, but also because I was on mat leave and it was Covid, I couldn't do anything but walk for miles with the pram having taken a packed lunch with me. As soon as summer hit, the pubs opened and then I went back to work, I was straight back into my old routines and habits.

If this works, I think I will need to do two things 1) remember I can exist on fewer calories, that I don't NEED chocolate or wine, much as I love them and that my routine can function without them and 2) probably count calories for the rest of my life. I've learnt the hard way the slippery slope of stopping and guesstimating and then being a bit loose with it all. I need to work out how many calories I need to maintain weight and stick to it.

(Sorry that's a bit of a brain dump!)

LadyWithLapdog · 11/02/2024 21:02

I agree about mind shift, Cuzco. In my case, whilst I’m totally going to admit to some degree of gluttony, there’s also hunger. I’m usually just so hungry all the time. Not anymore, which is why I want to make new habits whilst I’m like this.

0.5mg working wonders for me now. Down nearly 13 pounds in 4.5 weeks. I’m not trying at all. Im not restricted by constant food thoughts and what’s crazy is I’ve come on my period naturally, this hasn’t happened in years due to pcos!

That’s amazing @BlueMumma2018 I’m looking forward to my step up to 0.5mg tomorrow 🙌🙌

LunaLovegoodsLeftEyebrow · 12/02/2024 09:29

@BlueMumma2018 that is brilliant! shows your hormones are regulating alongside your weight 😊

I’m really finding the ‘new habits’ hard. I’m on 1mg, weight going down, but there is such a limit to what I can face eating / tolerate. I was having an egg muffin for lunch every day - eating about half - but last week I took one bite and it made me throw up 🤢

I had a tiny portion of a roast dinner last night and got agonising abdominal pains. I can manage crunchy things (a small bowl of tortilla chips is what I would rather eat than dinner) and protein shakes or protein water. But that’s not sustainable for the longer term.

Can some of you share what is working food - wise? Food seems to either make me feel sick, give me awful belly pain and wind or just not appeal.

My current daily diet is
1 l protein water
1l vitamin water
30g tortilla chips
tiny portion dinner (veggie meat alternative and veg)

ExpatForLife · 12/02/2024 15:53

@LunaLovegoodsLeftEyebrow

What has worked for me is lean protein and quality carbs. More smaller portions.

Tuna on crackers
Chicken breast with veggies
Roast salmon fillet with rice and broccoli
Pret's tuna Niçoise salad is my go-to for work day lunch
Cottage cheese
Eggs
Almonds
Dried apricots
Edamame

What makes me ill:
Most red meat
Anything greasy (my daughter ordered domino's with her friends and I couldn't even look at it)

Good luck

Cuzco · 12/02/2024 15:54

I am definitely not having any of those effects yet. Red meat sounds really appealing right now! Second jab for me this evening.

Nicebloomers · 12/02/2024 16:08

@LunaLovegoodsLeftEyebrow i wonder if you’d be better dropping down your dose? Did you fare better before going up to 1mg? It sounds a bit rubbish though. Your food intake doesn’t seem very much either.

LunaLovegoodsLeftEyebrow · 12/02/2024 17:06

@Nicebloomers and @ExpatForLife thank you. Yes maybe I should go back down to .75. I have been on 1 for the past five weeks and it is only the last two weeks the side effects have been so bad. It’s getting me down a bit as I still have 3 st to go. I know DH won’t be supportive as he is very against ordering drugs online, and he has definitely noticed me feeling unwell.

I think as you suggest next week I will dial it back to 0.75 again.
Those food ideas are helpful , thank you.
