I've been calorie counting on Myfitnesspal, keeping to 1270 calories. Things that have helped are:

Cutting out all cheese except small portions of reduced fat cheddar
Cutting out all alcohol except low calorie Sav Blanc
No white bakery - I have nimble bread, vastly reduced pasta and white rice intake.
Inverted triangle of calories in the day, so 500 for breakfast, 450 for lunch and 250 for supper
Home made granola ever day for breakfast. Slow-release carbs stop me being hungry all day.
An hour of intense exercise 4 times a week and mountain biking once a fortnight.

I've lost an average lb a week since April, going from 12st 8lb to 10st 8lb. It's amazing what the thought of fat arms in my photos will do!!

ViviPru · 26/10/2012 09:44

That's two stone in 6 months, stan, you can do it!!!

memphis83 · 26/10/2012 09:54

Thats amazing, well done. I am TTC and then from the baby being born (presuming I fall pg soon) I am going on a health kick. This is why I am planning all the little bits for the wedding now as when I was pg last time I developed awful taste and every room I decorated is having to be redone so don't want gross pg brain to hijack the wedding.

littlemissstan · 26/10/2012 09:54

Funnily enough you were exactly the same starting weight as me, and my target is 10st 7! Shall have to put my nose to the grindstone for a bit I think...

My date: 7th September 2013

ViviPru · 26/10/2012 11:42

stan that's spooky! It's a sign. It's an ideal time frame and goal, long enough to be manageable but not such an abstract far-off date that you can tell yourself it's ok to keep putting off.

Good luck with the TTC, memphis. I thought about coming off the pill a few months before the wedding but then decided that there was no way I wanted to miss cracking into all those bottles of wine I've had to resist all these months and as for the cheese tower.... TTC starts for us on the wedding night. If Mr.P is still conscious.

vivi my plan is if I had a baby after the wexding I won't have a reSon to lose weight but as you say fat arms on a bride isn't what I want so baby before then weightloss begins!
Also I haven't had any fruit since I had ds, my diet is so bad but when pg it spurs me on to ne healthy so it will be the kick start I need!

TTC for us starts on the wedding night, too :o

The reason we decided to get married so quickly was that we'd made our minds up to TTC the month we got engaged. Then we got engaged and had a few choices:

1/ Get married pregnant -- no wine and possible general feeling of crappiness :(

2/ Have a baby and leave the wedding til afterwards. The thing with this was that I really did not want to get married with a small child in tow. Small children need looking after and I want to party!
Which meant that we'd have had to be engaged for about 10 years before we'd get married.

3/ Get the wedding out of the way ASAP and then TTC.

So we went with 3 :o

That was pretty much our thought process too, but I had my heart set on a spring wedding and moreover I wanted to get in shape so we gave it a year...

Not going on honeymoon. At least, not immediately. I have 2 DCs and it's not school holidays. So we can't. And that's fine. I don't really feel the need to go away.

I had a real heart to heart with DP about babies last night, helped along with two bottles a bit of red wine... Have agreed on a ttc date of our first wedding anniversary - he'd like sooner, I'd put it off longer, so a compromise I think!

Mjin we're hopefully going to Morocco, have my heart set on a beautiful riad of some description :)

Compromise is where it's at, stan :)

I wish we had the luxury of waiting, but I'm 35 and DP is 26. I always said I'd never have another baby after I'm 35. My DC are 13 and 11, and I'd always thought I'd be free of children by the time I was 40.

DP always said he didn't want any children, so it was all good, as far as I was concerned! Then my bloody sister had a world's most adorable, lovely, smiley, delicious baby a year ago and DP fell entirely in love with him. I have never seen anyone do a U-turn so fast!

So now we're going for one Confused

OP posts:
memphis83 · 26/10/2012 17:37

My ds will be nearly 4 when we get married and aldo hopefully have a tiny baby. My sister is having a week over wedding off so she can have them whe ever I need her 2 then on wedding day she will leave by start of evening reception as she doesn't drink and its her wedding present to us!

for a honeymoon we will go somewhere as a family like Centerparcs then on our year anniversary somewhere nice and sunny.
We wanted to have a while to plan wedding so we didn't feel skint by doing it quickly and ploughing all our wages into it.

Thistledew · 26/10/2012 18:36

We have our honeymoon booked! Well, the main flights, anyway. We have had to book so far in advance because we are redeeming air miles that we have been assiduously saving for the last 4 years, but it means that we are flying all the way to Chile half-price!

We are also putting off trying for DC for a year. DP is keen, but I have other stuff I want to do first. Plus, we may have to dip into savings for the wedding and honeymoon so I would like to build these back up before I have to go on maternity leave- particularly as I am self-employed.

Well as some of you know, we won a safari. It's a mega-luxury £750 a night jobby, with extras making it about £3000 prize. We'd never have spent that kind of cash ourselves.

The thing is, it is only 3 nights and doesn't include flights, so we're currently working out ways of 'incorporating' it into a full honeymoon without bankrupting ourselves. The flights to Jo'berg aren't too pricey, it's just making it a more lengthy holiday that is tricky - we're considering a week in Turkey as the flights change in Istanbul and you can get some real luxury for not masses of ££s....

AKissIsNotAContract · 26/10/2012 19:47

We are going to do a tour of Costa Rica, but not until the January after the wedding. We will probably also do the MN favourite thing of asking for money towards the honeymoon instead of presents.

How did you win a safari vivi?

ViviPru · 26/10/2012 19:53

South America massively appeals to me, AKiss - that sounds great.

I entered a competition on a wedding blog. I have to admit to not really having read the prize properly... Blush

memphis83 · 26/10/2012 20:59

vivi that is an amazing prize. Well done.
I am a real home bird and the thpught of holidays away scare me rigid but dp wants us to go away. We went Tenerife when I was pg and thats all we have done overseas together. He is taking me Paris for my 30th in January, but oir honeymoon may probably be Cyprus.
