Come one, come all.

Getting married? Come and tell us about it so you don't have to go on the scary Bridezilla forums.

Wedding-whore? Come and relive the best day of your life.

Wedding-voyeur? Bugger off, you freak! Get your fix here.

For all the work stuff the PA gave me a checklist (she's the most organised prson I know, by a long way) so that helped. It's a pity she didn't have one for personal life.

At this rate I'll be 95 before everything's in the right name.

Why did this quiche not exist when I was getting married?

ViviPru · 25/10/2012 17:15

Absy tell us all about your nuptials...

ViviPru, as far as I understand it, yes. You register beforehand and then get the registrar to do the legal ceremony. I don't know about Humanist celebrant, though. I think in both England and Scotland, you can get civil-partnered outside but it must be registered for the purpose.

We'll have our reception after the civil ceremony. The blessing will probably be smaller and a couple of days afterwards. We may have a small reception after that but given how expensive the whole thing looks to be (especially paying for two venues!), we'll probably just go to dinner with the guests.

TobyLerone · 25/10/2012 17:35

Be sure to come back, Absy :)

Thistle have you thought about using the sashs in the main colours, and then using embellishments in the bows with pins/brooches in the the other colours will try to find an image to show you what i mean Smile

cookielove · 25/10/2012 17:40

like this but in your colours

ViviPru · 25/10/2012 17:49

Ah ok RGR I see - by blessing - do you mean of a religious nature?

I'm just curious as we're having separate low-key legal officialities with a celebrant-led ceremony at the actual wedding 'event' itself so curious how others are working it.

RedGreenRouge · 25/10/2012 17:53

Yes, religious. DP is a strong Catholic (although not too strong as she is in favour of gay marriage, unsurprisingly!) and I was brought up Catholic/Methodist/agnostic. It's a lot of work calling up different churches and places which only do religious ceremonies to ask whether they do blessings, especially as we have no real local knowledge.

I love the pine cone sash!

I bet! Confused It will be interesting to hear how that pans out - all the very best with it!!

memphis83 · 25/10/2012 17:57

I want to keep the look simple and unfussy, so do not want to be messing around with lots of additional fiddly stuff, particularly as we may have around 130 guests!

I don't want to completely lose the gold/bronze colour scheme on the day- especially as I have set it up with the invites, but at the same time, I don't want to have so much that I end up camouflaged in my dress!

I was planning on having a bouquet of <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=helleborus+red&um=1&hl=en&safe=off&biw=1265&bih=680&tbm=isch&tbnid=K1QKu46dlrc4xM:&imgrefurl=www.avantgardensne.com/catalog/product.cgi/5188/P1/default/N/0&docid=K3ziOPZxcLNOhM&imgurl=www.avantgardensne.com/catalog/images/product/HelleborusRed-Racer72.jpg&w=250&h=247&ei=YW-JUOWRLu2V0QW10YDQBA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=932&vpy=210&dur=1044&hovh=197&hovw=200&tx=67&ty=107&sig=116350393033244521341&page=1&tbnh=142&tbnw=134&start=0&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:5,s:0,i:83" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">red hellebores and lily of the valley.

RedGreenRouge · 25/10/2012 18:12

That building is lovely, thistle!

ViviPru · 25/10/2012 18:18

Between Loughborough and Leicester, memphis - you? Where's your wedding? Did you see the DTTB at the space centre?! DP and I were in fits!

Pretty hellebores, Thistle :)

memphis83 · 25/10/2012 18:33

I missed that one. We are getting married in the Guildhall and our reception is at North Kilworth (not kilworth house) we are getting a double decker to ferry people about. I am between Leicester and Market Harborough.
There is a weddig fair at the City rooms on the 4th November

ViviPru · 25/10/2012 19:01

The Guildhall is lovely, have you seen this?

ViviPru · 25/10/2012 19:13

Is it close to your natural colour, Mjin? You're wedding's not till July, right? plenty of time to get used to it/tweak it...

memphis83 · 25/10/2012 19:30

vivi I love that wedding! I want a picture like that where everyone is clapping watching you leave from above....but my guests will probably be pushing to get to mayors parlour for a drink!
I love her headband thats the sort of vintage heavy look I want.

TobyLerone · 25/10/2012 19:46

Oooh, I used to live in Coalville :)
