There are no weather warnings I can see on my app, all looks a bit warmer and a bit wetter. All the trains cancelled though.
is it really to be that bad? And why isn’t it on the weather apps, I’m sure it usually is.

Check out the Met office app, 75% of the UK is under some form of weather warning. I'm rather annoyed about it because I was hoping to clean the garden tomorrow. I do love a good storm though so I'll still enjoy it

TokyoSushi · 22/11/2024 22:52

There are loads of warnings but they're all north and west, are you definitely in a warning area?

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 22/11/2024 22:54

O don't think it's going to be bad. A few hours of rain and 40mph winds. Meh that's almost summer here 😂

Glovesandscarf · 22/11/2024 23:03

I’m in Scotland, (not) travelling to England, it is the areas covered, but there are no w awnings on my apps & all the trains are cancelled. I feel they usually wait a bit to cancel.

In SE England it’s rain and gusty winds. Hopefully not a hurricane coming.

Mapleunicorn · 22/11/2024 23:13

Im in the SE and I was wondering the same. No warnings here, my weather app just says rain, but they’ve cancelled a big local event this weekend because of it. Feel like I’m missing something??

SnapdragonToadflax · 22/11/2024 23:16

We're getting 50mph winds in the south-east, it does look pretty nasty. They've cancelled our Christmas lights switch on, and the next town have done the same.

Hopefully it won't be serious but I can understand the concern.

liveforsummer · 22/11/2024 23:21

Yellow or amber warnings for wind rain and snow for nearly all of Scotland and the north of England. You must be missing it somehow. Maybe need to refresh or update your app?

I'm in Northumberland and Alnwick Garden, Bamburgh Castle and Ford and Etal have cancelled events because of the gale warning.

We've been told to expect snow, heavy rain, and 60-70 mph winds. In late November 2021 we had Storm Arwen - it blew the flat roof off this bungalow, I'd only been here six months. Many many properties were affected and trees blew down on roads/train lines.

Take great care if you are out and about tomorrow.

TheFormidableMrsC · 23/11/2024 00:00

I don't appear to be in a warning area (North Herts) but our town Christmas light switch on is tomorrow and the council has put up a post on SM saying that there is a possibility of extreme weather but at this point, the event is continuing. I expect it'll be cancelled tomorrow as nobody is going to stand in pouring rain and I can't see the market being able to operate either. Nuisance!

Useofstirm · 23/11/2024 00:04

Solid rain for 48 hours, doesn't sound good even without taking the wind into account

CoffeeAndPeanuts · 23/11/2024 00:10

SE (north Hampshire/surrey) forecast changed from -0°-2° to 4-14° but rainy non stop & wind warning, loads of Christmas festivals/carnival & light ups cancelled. Such a shame for them all & they've all said cancelled not rescheduled.

Numsmetty · 23/11/2024 00:17

It’s keeping me awake! Plenty of wind and rain from the sound of it here, next to the Atlantic…

Glovesandscarf · 23/11/2024 03:53

😳🙄. They have changed what it looks like & I missed it!
otoh it’s only yellow, I’ve known them keep running through worse 🤷‍♀️ Still, I’ll get a refund.

I think the issue is mainly snow. I live in the hills in Yorkshire and it's been a very cold night so the rain is falling as heavy snow until the warm air comes through.

MillyGoat · 23/11/2024 04:36

We are SE and have loads of sports fixtures cancelled even though no actual weather warning. Is @ohyoubadbadkitten around?! I’m no expert but to tell if it will be bad or just overblown …

BitOutOfPractice · 23/11/2024 04:44

I’m in Essex and it’s saying it’s going to be 17° here on Sunday. 14° overnight tomorrow. It’s currently 1° (early hours Saturday). That’s a crazy temperature rise.

Christmas lights switch on event on Sunday cancelled here too because of expected high winds.

embolass · 23/11/2024 04:48

I’m in that tiny sliver of white on the weather warning map, so happy about that 😁

NoBiscuitsLeftInMyTin · 23/11/2024 05:18

I’m in west wales and it’s pouring down, about 2 degrees and the wind is howling around and we’ve no ‘weather warning’. But it’s horrible out there,

Songlines · 23/11/2024 05:23

I can hear things being blown around outside here in the South West. It's been building for the last couple of hours

Glovesandscarf · 23/11/2024 06:13

It’s also totally silent here, no wind or rain that I’ve heard overnight. Oh well, have requested my refund & will have to reschedule

I can't take a storm seriously if it's called Bert. It makes me think of Bert and Ernie.

Falifornia · 23/11/2024 06:53

I'm in the far south west tip and was up at 4am checking that my lounge windows hadn't actually blown in. Heavy metal balcony furniture all blown upside down into a corner. Fair to say it's pretty wild.

Amazingday · 23/11/2024 06:53

Woke up and it’s snowing heavy in West Yorkshire. DP has been called into work as works for infrastructure for a utility company. They have prepped for the storm to badly affect things so lots of staff on stand by all weekend.

he just called and said no roads have been gritted and he is struggling to drive in snow mode.
