:)

First proper potential for the winter on Friday - if you live in the Peak district and parts of Scotland. Grin

Placemarking.......................North Essex.

It’s a nippy -2 this morning & looks like it’s going to be another beautiful day.

It could do with snowing the week after as well really. Around the 18th/19th. I’m sure all the local dc, as well as my own, would love having the Christmas holiday extended by a day or two.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/12/2019 08:20

GFS has backed down from winter wonderland next weekend (and election day) and goes for a mix of snow and rain coming from the north west. It shows how 'on the edge' the forecast is though. I'm still keeping an eye on it!

NW can be quite a productive direction where I am OYBBK. If it comes down from just North it peters out just north of Birmingham usually. If it’s SW it stops at the Malverns. South it stops in the high Cotswolds. East it depends how intent it’s is Xmas Wink.

It’s gone cloudy now, after the sun shone for the first part of the school run.

Perihelion · 04/12/2019 12:06

OYBBK I'm slightly Shock that you would rather not have snow on election day... that's almost goading the weather god Grin
We're to possibly get snow on Tuesday after a weekend with 11C highs.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/12/2019 13:45

I've got a collision of personal events then Peri, otherwise I'd find it a highly interesting scenario!

nannynick · 04/12/2019 17:08

Thanks for that link OYBBK.

megletthesecond · 04/12/2019 23:05

Ah, I don't want snow down south on the 13th. I was planning to head to family in the south west for a post election grumble that weekend.

Perihelion · 05/12/2019 14:29

Ah, may your personal events be sorted and then some snowmageddon.

BestOption · 05/12/2019 14:33

I’m flying out on the 13th, I really do not need Gatwick to close down due to a bloidy snowflake! It can wait until the 20th please! ~ I’ll be back & happy to embrace it by then

BestOption · 05/12/2019 14:35

If you have your crystal ball showing anything for Copenhagen that would be enormously helpful to the packing & planning situ...TIA 😘

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 05/12/2019 16:07

It’s turned horrible this afternoon, feels really cold again (although thermometer is reading just over 6°) with a strong wind & rain. We had fog this morning & it was an eerie purple & orange colour outside.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/12/2019 17:36

I think you'll be better off looking online for Copenhagen Best.

Definitely a move to milder wilder weather for a few days now. What happens from mid week next week? Who knows Grin
I'm keeping an eye on Mondays weather which could be really pretty lively in southern England.

Kitten! What on earth is going on this evening? I'm in NE England. Forest was and still is for a Breezy day / evening. I feel like I'm in a storm. I've got lashing rain, trees are bent over double. Yet forecast says 20mph winds tops. I'm having to secure everything outside and conservatory roof sounds like it's going to come off!

ChristmassySpice · 05/12/2019 18:30

Forecast not Forest!

WreckTangled · 05/12/2019 19:03

I'm here for snow watch!

I'm on jury duty from Monday so could do without snow and then we're travelling north east towards Malvern for Christmas week.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/12/2019 21:53

Has it settled Spice? Looks like the weather front was pretty lively as it went through your region.

Definitely a move to milder wilder weather for a few days now. Phew! Milder for a few days will be helpful. My boiler has decided to pack up, no heating or hot water currently Sad Hoping it can be fixed tomorrow when they come without the need to order any parts.

cheninblanc · 05/12/2019 22:19

We had a nice cold walk this evening, lovely to be out with wind blowing!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/12/2019 07:58

There's still some fairly wild weather to come I think, on Monday and perhaps on Wednesday. GFS is not letting go of the idea of the potential snow for some on Wednesday on, despite other models not concurring. I have no idea what will happen tbh. The meteorologists I trust are pretty well discarding the idea.

Delatron · 06/12/2019 09:24

Yes the AJ Facebook guy has backed off from the snow too! Definitely for our area (Chilterns).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/12/2019 11:32

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/3761768-Storm-Atiyiah
separate thread for Sunday/Mondays storm.
It's that time of year when we end up with multiple weather threads to highlight individual events and I get all muddled and post in the wrong bits. So when that happens please bare with me.

OP posts:
ChristmassySpice · 07/12/2019 21:40

Kitten the wind is crazy again tonight here in the NE. Mum has sent her postal vote, hope it's not too bad for others to cast their vote next week

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/12/2019 22:30

You'll need to watch it on Monday too potentially, with a possible squeeze in the isobars as Atiyah exits the uk.

rhubarbcrumbles · 07/12/2019 23:36

We've had horrible weather for the last two nights and it's carrying on tonight - really blustery, noisy winds. We live in a sheltered hollow so heaven only knows what it's like on the hills.
