I know it will seem quite crackers to start this when the weekend has been so lovely, but we are starting to get some model consistency on GFS for the potential for snow Friday night into Saturday as a northerly plunge looks set to take place.

Primary risk areas are obviously for hillier parts of Scotland and also Wales, but higher ground in the south and south east including over dartmoor and down the east coast may also see some sleet or wet snow.

I read on Twitter that there is a possibility of a storm coming our way for Friday?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/10/2018 08:48

Looking at the models, they seem to have it developing from the south west and skidding up the north west coast as it deepens. I'm keeping an eye on it to see how much landfall it makes.

-1C and a proper frost this morning and the blue sky and no wind.

PointlessUsername · 29/10/2018 17:52

Oybbk
Oh so it wont have much effect on the SE then.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/10/2018 19:48

It doesn't look like it Pointless.

Poor Leicester.

GloriaSmud · 30/10/2018 21:11

Think it's going to be another frosty night here so more clearing of windows tomorrow.

It's all so very sad, hoochymama and quiet, especially after dark. At the moment, it feels like everyone's doing what they have to during the day but at night, people just want to go home, lock their doors and 'hunker down.'

BiddyPop · 31/10/2018 10:59

We had some pretty significant frost in Cork over the weekend, and some puddles in boat covers had quarter of an inch thick ice floating on top at 10am on Saturday (there was a thinner sheet on a different boat on Sunday).

Back in Dublin, it was briskly chill yesterday, but no ice in evidence.

Not sure if this video will work outside of Facebook but will give it a go.

nice nanny nick!

For two models in a row now GFS has flagged up snow on it's forecast. However two model runs does not snomageddon make!

Today's model run shows the possibility of bringing snow all down the east coast on 27th November. Likelihood of this happening at the moment? possible. But far too early to forecast with any sort of certainty and certainly with an sort of specificity.

But, the models are consistent with bringing in significantly colder weather next week.

We're due a big storm tomorrow/Friday!

dogwoofbark · 14/11/2018 09:18

4-10 inches/ 10-20cm. Yay!

GloriaSmud · 14/11/2018 10:21

10-20 cms! Whereabouts are you, dogwoofbark? (I'm thinking US/Canada?)

Some thoughts from TheWeatherOutlook and Netweather on the weather over the next few days and into next week.

dogwoofbark · 14/11/2018 10:23

@GloriaSmud yes East Coast US very near Canada. First snow of the year!

GloriaSmud · 14/11/2018 14:19

An excellent start to the winter then, dogwoofbark!

PestoSurfissimos · 14/11/2018 14:45

Normally I would be very excited for snow, but fingers crossed we don’t have it the last day of November coz I’ve got an airport run at stupid-o’clock the following morning.

birdsofafeather · 14/11/2018 15:15

Oh ffs
Fucking snow

GloriaSmud · 14/11/2018 17:27

Netweather's early thoughts on Christmas.

You really hate weather birds Grin

I have to say, I'm starting to get quite interested now, some real model consistency showing. It looks like it could be an early start to the season in the east.

Very cold too for the end of november.

Any chance of this in West sussex!?

MarthasGinYard · 15/11/2018 10:28

Fab my favourite thread ❄️

GloriaSmud · 15/11/2018 11:15

I'm kind of interested/excited but with a dose of, 'Oh no, not again!' (remembering the number of 'Snow Watch' threads we had last winter!)

birds ~ I don't think there's anything for you at the moment, there might be the odd flake when it gets cold next week but that's it. It gets 'a bit interesting' from the weekend after that (the 24/25) but that's waaaaay into the future when it comes to forecasting!
