Snow watch!

I know it will seem quite crackers to start this when the weekend has been so lovely, but we are starting to get some model consistency on GFS for the potential for snow Friday night into Saturday as a northerly plunge looks set to take place.

Primary risk areas are obviously for hillier parts of Scotland and also Wales, but higher ground in the south and south east including over dartmoor and down the east coast may also see some sleet or wet snow.

Just picking my dd's up from a club and its settled on the roads. Doesn't look like they've been gritted. I'm a bit nervous driving in it but taking it nice and slow.

Essex/Suffolk border here, snowing and seems to be settling.

Had a warning from my dad about Thursday. To quote him "major winter event, you are on the edge of the main snow area though it will be worse further north and east". For reference I'm on the Somerset/Dorset border near Yeovil.

Thursday will be the one to watch here too. It is the one that local news has been focusing on.

Lurking for weeks enjoying the snow dreams.. (and the polishing of sledges) and finally, after some last minute worries of a no snow show .. we have proper real lovely heavy snow falling just south of Tunbridge Wells across the Sussex Weald .

It's +2C but fucking snowing - I think y'all know how little impressed I am by that.

Some rain this morning in Edinburgh. 0C and NOT fucking snowing atm.

Had new tyres fitted today......I feel that's almost as bad as my sledge purchases for creating a snow sheild.

Ooooh, a weather thread! Always fascinating. Sadly in Southampton the snow always goes around us, we rarely see any. Looks like it will be the same again!

Cambridgeshire / beds border. No snow
My friend in east Cambridgeshire has snow settling there.
I really thought we may finally get a snow day tomorrow.

Essex/Cambridgeshire border, snow started around 8pm and is settling.

Nothing here when I last looked out the window.

Woke up to snow! ( WN postcode) Not what I expected looking at forecast last night but it's changed and is forecasting more today!

Still got our slight covering on grass here (Leicester) but that's going to be frozen solid as it's -3C at the moment.
(Although I'm not expecting any more snow, my weather station has its little snow symbol up ~ this excites me more than it should!)

So now we look to tomorrow and see what snow gets produced then. At the moment, I'm thinking areas to the south of York/Bradford/Blackpool could get a covering.

Woke up to a settled white blanket of snow (still snowing) here in Manchester.

Dcat is apparently not a fan 😾He poked one whisker and a paw out then came swiftly back in.
