Papercutsand ~ should think the M4 will be OK as things are beginning to thaw now. For rail news, this might help.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/03/2018 14:03

rats aren't great!

I know ~ you invite nature into your garden and one of them brings an unwelcome Plus-One!

BestIsWest · 03/03/2018 14:29

Just been out for coffee and to Tesco where the shelves were laid bare of bread, milk meat and veg.

Coffee shop manager told me they are likely to run out of coffee by tomorrow lunchtime and won’t get a delivery until Tuesday and Tesco seem to think similar. They seem to think there are problems on the M4.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/03/2018 14:36

oh no Best!!

Gloria, perhaps you can tame it and teach it to do tricks?

I need to work out what to do with the mouse family I found behind the snow shovel. They've made a beautiful nest, but I don't want them to live in the shed really. Would I be unreasonable to give it to the cats? I put it in the garage because it seemed less cold in there.

turned out it was empty!

Flowers, Cake and Brew or Gin to @OYBBK and @GloriaSmud. Between them and my man on Facebook the forecasts have been absolutely spot on - who needs the BBC!

Thawing here, my road is a bit dicey but all the main routes are perfect after the carnage of yesterday. People have been walking to collect their cars from wherever they abandoned them.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be fine as it's DD2's 17th and we've booked her first driving lesson - those of you in Bucks may want to stay at home between 10.30 and 11.30. Grin

Howyoualldoworkme · 03/03/2018 16:16

Well, thawing out very quickly here.

Unfortunately the rapid thaw has caused problems over the hill in Portsmouth as the water pressure dropped drastically and left people without water for most of the morning Confused

Pouring with rain now and I'm very glad to see it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/03/2018 16:46

I guess burst pipes are going to become the next issue.

Thanks tapdancing. Good luck to your dd :)

No thaw here as I suspected, today's high has been -1

That's OK though because I want to have a go at making a snowman tomorrow Grin in my head I wake up to the fog being gone but the hoar frost still there, go make a snowman and then come in for a hot mocha and a bacon sarnie. I'll let you know how that pans out...

Apparently, all our roads are open now though still icy in places. Local shop fully stocked with new deliveries.

Delatron · 03/03/2018 17:03

Thanks for the reassurance about the wasp
Gloria. I had visions of a swarm appearing out of nowhere. Seems to have disappeared for now.

youarenotkiddingme · 03/03/2018 17:40

Rapid thaw here today. Rain has washed away the rest. I hope local villages with rivers aren't too affected with spring tides as well.

youarenotkiddingme · 03/03/2018 17:42

Also it's a whole 4°c and will be doubly that tomorrow. Usually that would feel cold - not today Grin

CiderwithBuda · 03/03/2018 18:02

Well it is thawing here but still lots of snow.

DS cleared a path down the drive for DH to walk up when he gets back. DH’s Flight made it to Heathrow and he is currently in a car being driven home. Due back around 8. He reckons roads are ok but I suspect it will be trickier near us.

Anyway - thanks again to OYBBK and Gloria. I’m on thmy Gin - hope you are all having something nice too.

mrsdolittle · 03/03/2018 18:26

It's snowing AGAIN in the Cotswolds☹️

Was beginning to thaw out nicely and above freezing all day. I cleared the drive and now it's getting covered in snow again - seriously not impressed.

BBC forecast says it should be raining now. To be fair Met Office one says light snow. It's wet snow so doubt it will come to much - but even so!!!!

GloriaSmud · 03/03/2018 19:28

Not a lot's thawed here (Leicester) but at least we did get above freezing (1.4C)
We're forecast a bit more snow before it properly warms up tomorrow.

Netweather radar showing some showers.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/03/2018 20:08

It does look like our rain is turning into your snow. Bad luck!

GloriaSmud · 03/03/2018 20:35

It does indeed!
Just started here so we'll see how much we get this time.

Waxlyrically · 03/03/2018 21:03

Oh no it’s snowing here again - E Mids. When will we get our thaw? I’m hoping the journey to N Wales I, thankfully, postponed due to this lovely thread can be made this coming week! Now I’m worried.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/03/2018 21:17

wax you are getting there, it's just a bit slow for you. Tomorrow will be a little warmer.

Was snowing again in West Ox a couple of hours ago, all gone now and everything is melting.

Gertrudethestag · 03/03/2018 22:32

Hello again waves so Netweather says we have a chance of snow this coming Wednesday. I assume that the prediction will change but its still interesting!

kooshbin · 04/03/2018 00:13

Adding my thanks to Kitten and Gloria for their excellent assistance in interpreting the data. Also others who have shared their local conditions. These threads have been a really helpful resource to a lot of us.

Lupiform · 04/03/2018 00:19

Yes, thank you so much, KItten and Gloria. You have been wonderful as always.

Everything is nearly melted here in SW London. DH's flight was OK. He managed to get to Hull. Hope we have no more extreme weather!

GloriaSmud · 04/03/2018 07:46

We had 3-4cms more last night ~ there was quite a covering when I went to bed at 11pm. But it's 2.2C and raining now, so all melting Sad
