PrettyLittleBrownEyedMe ~ the Bristol area is supposed to get the snow after midnight. It might be worth taking a look at trafficEngland's website here (go on 'map layers' and tick traffic cameras) to see what the roads are like in the morning.

WeAllHaveWings ~ if they're getting back late, they'll probably leave Manchester just before any heavy showers hit the area. They should just about be OK.

Northern ~ glad you got there and back safely.

PrettyLittleBrownEyedMe · 17/03/2018 20:08

Thank you Gloria! That's really helpful - I've never seen that before!

GloriaSmud · 17/03/2018 20:11

I've been directing a lot of people in that website's direction today! It's just that I can have a rough idea what the weather's supposed to be like but can't say the same about the roads!

Ouch44 · 17/03/2018 20:12

Not much at all here in South Manchester. We have had a lot of blizzards during the day with horizontal snow but it really has only stuck a tiny bit.

GloriaSmud · 17/03/2018 20:19

Really coming down here (Leicester) and we've got a good covering now. Metoffice have changed our forecast to heavy snow for the next hour or two.

Perihelion · 17/03/2018 20:38

We've had wee snow/graupel showers all day, but nothing lying until now.
Think we're due more overnight in Edinburgh, so the roads may be interesting in the morning...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/03/2018 20:41

I got home fine :) It was bloody freezing, but no disruption at all. Looking at the radar, I don't think the same will be said about tomorrow.

Getting a bit worried as dh & Dd are supposed to be driving from Staffordshire to Chiswick at 6am tomorrow morning, then back again in the evening.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 17/03/2018 21:08

Lack of much snow here in Kent. Had a couple of inches but it’s soft slushy snow and hasn’t settled on the roads. Forecast on met office was predicting heavy snow most of the day but that didn’t happen. Wondering what might happen over night.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/03/2018 21:15

I'm not quite sure to be honest, the current radar isn't really looking like the met office output, the snow band that was forecast to run through London I think seems to be further north than forecast. It looks to clear behind this current pulse, I can't work out how much there is after it.

Kitten, glad you got home all right.

so London might have less snow than expected? That would be nice!

oldsilver · 17/03/2018 22:30

Um, it may have started a little early in Bristol. It's just started pitching.

FlowerPotMum · 17/03/2018 22:32

Lots of heavy snow in South York's. All bus services were suspended earlier.
Keep safe all.

KatieMoragsMum · 17/03/2018 22:50

Lots of settling snow in our north Devon village. Had a load earlier about noon, 4cm ish, it had a few hours break, and restarted a couple of hours ago. So there’s ice underneath, and about 10cm everywhere. Can’t see where the road ends and pavement begins. No gritting out here. We’re only half a mile or so from the coast so normally swerve settling snow. Now we’ve had two lots in one month!
Sledging tomorrow I think. Village will be cut off if our lanes are all thick with snow, but plenty of tractors etc around if anyone needs to get out. Keep safe and warm everyone.

MrSlant · 17/03/2018 22:54

We had a most unexpected full on blizzard here earlier, it was impressive to watch it arrive and then go all Armageddon like on us. Then I had a little panic as DS1 is helping out on the school production and driving himself home, so an hour before he was due to come back I drove 2/3 of the way there and back to make sure the roads would be ok for him Blush. They were fine.

Not forecast any snow here for overnight now, all gone! Although the 'feels like' temp of -12 is looking promising for rugby in the morning [we need an 'oh dear god I'll freeze' emoticon]

summersgoneaway · 17/03/2018 22:59

I am working tomorrow
When it snowed a few weeks ago I couldn't get in one day our rd was leathal as they don't grit it
Road is covered already

ShowOfHands · 17/03/2018 23:05

I'm in Norfolk and it has snowed all day but not settled. 2 inches settled in the last hour and it's still going.

I love it but I'm not sure we're prepared for it.

IWantMyHatBack · 17/03/2018 23:29

West Ox and its stopped for now but there's a thin layer on the ground. If forecasts are correct we're on for a reasonable snow say tomorrow (and may it fuck right off so Monday is normal. K, thanks. :))

IWantMyHatBack · 17/03/2018 23:30

Snow *day

(thank god I stockpiled the wine)

SpringNowPlease2018 · 17/03/2018 23:36

@summersgoneaway

hope you get to work safely tomorrow.

fortyfourfeasts · 18/03/2018 00:39

Think this may be worse than last time. V heavy and lots of settled snow. March!!!! Blooming heck!!!

MorvahRising · 18/03/2018 00:50

Snowing steadily here now and settling. About a centimetre so far. Wonder what we’ll wake up to in the morning!
