Does anyone know if we are getting a dumping this evening in East Sussex:Kent border? All forecasts are predicting something different. Thanks

youarenotkiddingme · 17/03/2018 16:13

Ground very dry and cold here now. Due another snowfall 7/8pm ish. South hants.

I suppose it could lay. I'm hoping not because ds and I are going out at 6.30 to a birthday party - he has asd and this is only the 4th time he's ever been invited to a party. I'm not sure he's ready for an all nighter yet!

tapdancingmum · 17/03/2018 16:17

Bucks here and we had to go to Milton Keynes for a football match this morning. We had to be there for 9.00 and my local forecaster on FB was thinking we were going to get really stuck somewhere but it was fine. The girls played in -1 and swirling snow and were frozen when they came off so back to the clubhouse for hot chocolate before driving home.

It's been swirling on and off all day and has covered most of the the grass in my garden but have managed to go to Tesco and get the last of the shopping.

Nothing planned for tomorrow so it can do as it likes Grin

SpringNowPlease2018 · 17/03/2018 16:21

the temperature has suddenly plummeted - and then "Boys of Summer" came up on my playlist. Where's the "pfft" emoji?!

PilarTernera · 17/03/2018 17:21

Still snowing here in north London and it's starting to settle.

I'm planning on travelling to Kent by train tomorrow morning. As the amber warning finishes at 9 am, is it reasonable to expect trains to be running as scheduled after that?

GloriaSmud · 17/03/2018 17:28

I'm not sure trains will be running as normal, PilarTernera. You might want to check here for latest travel news tomorrow.

MorvahRising · 17/03/2018 17:28

It said heavy snow pretty much all day here in Surrey; we’ve had a few swirls but that’s pretty much it . . . .

Delatron · 17/03/2018 17:28

It was swirly snow in central London for most of the day with nothing settling. I headed back to Bucks on the train at 5 and it was just getting heavier as I left so the right call I think, doesn't look to be settling much but trains starting to be cancelled.

PilarTernera · 17/03/2018 17:58

Thanks Gloria I'll do that.

BiddyPop · 17/03/2018 18:02

LHR is open and functional (as good/bad as normal) - a few cancellations but most operating and back up to 2 runways that I could see (they were down to 1 in the afternoon for a while).

Flurries of snow in the air from time to time (I had a window seat in T5 for about 90 minutes) but I can't see any on the ground.

SpringNowPlease2018 · 17/03/2018 18:04

now singing "Where does Swirly Snow Go" a la Whitney Houston.

Delatron · 17/03/2018 18:09

It's funny isn't it? I guess they can just about forecast the snow but they don't know whether it will settle or not. It just doesn't seem to be. Which is good!

Frouby · 17/03/2018 18:34

Settling here in south yorkshire! Just been outside to check the guinea pigs were ok and the dogs tracks from an hour ago wete well covered. A good inch, still coming down and forecast all night!

Spoke to my mam earlier. She can remember being snowed in a caravan in devon in june! Would have been late 50s/early 60s. And I remember there being snow on the ground at easter in devon in the very early 80s.

booface · 17/03/2018 18:40

Hmmmm, not sure what we will wake up to in West Kent. It says heavy snow of night. But right now its just a little fluffy bit. But it's settling where it is landing, so we will see.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 17/03/2018 18:45

In north Essex it has been snowing all day, little light flakes but forecast says heavy snow from 7pm for the whole night.
Tomorrow could be interesting Smile

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 17/03/2018 18:51

So far, the heavy snow forecast from 4pm hasn't materialised. I'm slightly optimistic now, that this thing I'm hosting, won't just me and the dc !! Fingers crossed for another hour

Gertrudethestag · 17/03/2018 18:55

We had an afternoon of snow which didn't settle at all. Then it turned to hail / icey rain that looked like cake decorating sprinkles. Really weird!

GloriaSmud · 17/03/2018 18:56

I think now it's dark, showers will begin to 'pep up' a bit so quite a few places will have a covering by morning. We've had showers here (Leicester) on and off during the day but now it's dark, it's really beginning to settle.

Gertrudethestag · 17/03/2018 18:58

Just Googled the type of cake decorating thingies for a more accurate description and it came up with "sugar strands".

So yeah - we had a car covered in icey clear looking sugar strands! Grin

PrettyLittleBrownEyedMe · 17/03/2018 19:13

Anybody any thoughts about snow in Somerset/Bristol overnight? Am supposed to be travelling first thing to an event involving lots of other people - don't know whether to call it off or not! Amber warning on Met Office but bbc doesn't look too bad....will it settle? will it be a blizzard? Predictions very welcome...

icantdothis2017 · 17/03/2018 19:14

Really hope by Monday it's over with

TopBitchoftheWitches · 17/03/2018 19:19

Snow has been settling on the gardens and cars all day but not the pavements or roads, this has now changed, if it continues all night as forecast we will have quite a bit by morning.

randomuntrainedcuntowner · 17/03/2018 19:19

Light smattering in SW at the moment, but luckily noticed on the way over to my parents for dinner that the main road home is closing at 10.30pm, so we're going to have to make sure we leave in plenty of time!

WeAllHaveWings · 17/03/2018 19:28

How is Manchester looking? Ds(14) is down there just now on a school trip for the footie and travelling back by coach to Glasgow very late tonight 😧

NorthernLurker · 17/03/2018 19:52

Made it to Lincolnshire and back to York! A1was fine but it was starting to settle a couple of hours ago in South Yorkshire.
