Snowing here. Wnkd ruined. Hate it

BrieAndChilli · 17/03/2018 08:14

They’ve gone on the train and I think are getting the 5pm train back so hopefully they will miss the snow!

ButtertubsPass · 17/03/2018 08:14

Nothing here in North Yorkshire yet. I am meant to be driving from Pateley Bridge to Haworth at lunchtime for a family birthday afternoon but won’t go if it looks like the forecast is going to be right.

We had a terrible snow dump last week, more than a few inches in a couple of hours that only affected a small patch 30miles long. Caused absolute chaos.

Actually it has just started, it is very windy.

But Thursday now looks very wet rather than snowy. Keep an eye on it though.

Snowing West Dorset. ❄️❄️❄️

GloriaSmud · 17/03/2018 08:23

Brie ~ they should be OK then.

Buttertubs ~ good idea to keep an eye on things.

The wind is something I hadn't expected this morning, several patio chairs have gone over during the night. Snowing lightly here (Leicester) and the temperature's dropped from the 1.1c it was earlier to 0.5c

IsItOnTheTrolley · 17/03/2018 08:30

Meant to add, wasn't forecast until 22:00.
Typical, two things booked for this weekend, very rural, so no gritters.

CointreauVersial · 17/03/2018 08:32

A few fairy flakes here in north-east Surrey, nothing more. We have an Amber warning from 4pm - just hoping that's accurate and it doesn't get bad until later, as I have several unavoidable missions around lunchtime today. Including a long-awaited and sorely needed haircut!

Unfortunately, DD1 will need collecting from work at around 5pm, down a very steep hill that wiped out around 9 cars a couple of Fridays ago. And DS finishes work at 8pm (down same hill).

We got away pretty lightly during the reign of the last Beast. I'd love some snow, but tonight onwards, pleeeease!

turnipfarmers · 17/03/2018 08:35

You shouldn't have to be thinking about snow disruption on St Patrick's day.

It's my birthday this weekend and I've had both snow and hot sunny weather on my birthday - it makes party planning a challenge :-)

hoochymama1 · 17/03/2018 08:35

Now snowing lightly, winds getting up, it shows -2 on the thermometer. Me and the dog got v cold on our walk ( NE Derbs)

carleasehireargh · 17/03/2018 08:35

Hello, can anyone take a guess at driving conditions for tomorrow between Birmingham and Croydon?

I'm due to drive down and back for a family event and I'm fairly confident at driving but get very claustrophobic when stuck in traffic on motorways. Trying to work out if it's likely to be bad!

JeffreyNeedsAHobby · 17/03/2018 08:36

It's snowing here already so we won't risk London today. I think by 4pm the trains won't be running if it is like this all day... Nb. this is a personal opinion not supported by any publication or expert.

BestIsWest · 17/03/2018 08:38

Tiny flakes here in Swansea.

GloriaSmud · 17/03/2018 08:48

carlease ~ I'd probably have to consider not going. The Croydon/London area is forecast for heavy snow all through today and overnight and isn't going to be fun.
If it helps, trafficEngland have a website here. If you go on their 'map layers' and 'tick' traffic cameras, you can see what road conditions are like on motorways.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/03/2018 08:57

Thanks Gloria, I'm going to,have to deputise to others today to keep me informed!

IrenetheQuaint · 17/03/2018 08:58

It is indeed snowing in London! Even settling a little in my garden.

carleasehireargh · 17/03/2018 09:03

Thanks Gloria, I'll get in touch with them to say I might not be able to get there.

That website is brilliant!

Mrstumbletap · 17/03/2018 09:05

Turnipfarmers where do you live? I have never know of snow in March but you must remember it being your birthday.

All plans cancelled here! Am tired of the weather this winter!

Weloveoptimus · 17/03/2018 09:14

Jeffrey you made me laugh. Lol lol.
Like that.

Follyfoot · 17/03/2018 09:15

Bugger. Supposed to be flying from Manchester Airport tomorrow early afternoon. Any thoughts on how much snow that part of the country is likely to get in the next 30 hours or so would be fab OhYouBad or Gloria? Thank you Smile

We're edge of the Peak District - just a dusting here so far.

PrincessaCarrisi · 17/03/2018 09:19

Ah crap, just saw this thread but we have already set out from Solihull to Heathrow!
We have a light dusting of snow at home, it's very windy though. We will be returning earlier than planned, hope to get away around 3pm
