Forecast has got a lot worse overnight so am leaving earlier to collect DS from university! Not snowing here yet but it looks rather threatening.

MuddyForestWalks · 17/03/2018 06:45

Fecking snow Angry I was in a short sleeved tshirt yesterday. Now the bloody white stuff is coming down again. Not settling yet (NW Essex)

LaContessaDiPlump · 17/03/2018 06:46

Noooo it can't snow - I have a half marathon to run tomorrow!! Sad

megletthesecond · 17/03/2018 06:50

More snow is expected in Hampshire than was forecast yesterday, looks like it could arrive late morning, so I'm cancelling our day out Sad. I don't want us stuck on a train between Hampshire and Oxford. Have just snuck round the house and turned the dc's alarms off.

We could make parkrun before the snow arrives though Hmm .

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/03/2018 06:51

Snow is getting its act together very early this morning :(

Oh dear. I am due to go through Heathrow today. My connecting flight has been cancelled but I've been put on another slightly later. I presume capacity was planned to be reduced. But will Heathrow operate at reasonable capacity so you think or is it possibly going to get shut down in early evening?

MadisonAvenue · 17/03/2018 07:00

We don't seem to have had any overnight. We were in the amber area last night when I checked though, about 2 miles away from yellow.

GloriaSmud · 17/03/2018 07:01

Leicester ~ 1.1C and we have a very slight covering.

Lots of snow showers showing up here.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/03/2018 07:06

I'm afraid I don't know Biddy :(

Seems to have tailed off into sleet.....

I've just looked at Met Office, and right now it's meant to be foggy with 40% chance of precipitation. The higher chance 90% comes in a couple of hours.

Sky looks utterly leaden

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/03/2018 07:09

It looks leaden here too. At the moment it is sleeting.

Thanks OYBBK.

I never even looked this week, barely heard a muttering yesterday of potential snow in Dublin (I'm driving from the airport - so I can't even relax with a glass of wine en route or if delayed...), and have regular not deep winter clothes with me for this trip. I was literally going for dinner last night when I got the cancellation email.

I really ought to know better....

I hope its not too bad for anyone today.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/03/2018 07:13

You shouldn't have to be thinking about snow disruption on St Patrick's day.

OP posts:
BiddyPop · 17/03/2018 07:15

Yeah, I was thinking about the number of St Patrick's Days i did alone with DD while DH was away with work, and revelling in the fact that I was away this year!! Going for a swim before I leave the hotel now.

MadisonAvenue · 17/03/2018 07:19

Is this showing as being quite short-lived? I didn't expect to be worrying about snow disruption when I booked a holiday for the end of March. We're driving from the West Midlands to Heathrow for a flight on Friday.

NoWayNoHow · 17/03/2018 07:23

SW London/Surrey border here and it's being a bit pathetic- trying a tiny bit to snow, but was supposed to have started a couple of hours ago so isn't living up to much at the mo. Going to get on the road to Devon earlier rather than later, nonetheless.

BrieAndChilli · 17/03/2018 07:25

Oh god I’m freaking out!!! Please tell me the snow won’t be too bad?
It’s just DS1 age 11 has just left to go to Birmingham to the science fair with his friend and mum. DH and DS2 age 7 are at beavers camp about an hour away and DD age 9 is at Cubs camp about 30 min away (thankfully both camps are in proper buildings not tents!!)
I WAS looking forward to a whole day to myself but now I’m going to stress that all my family are going to be stuck in various places!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/03/2018 07:25

That's sensible NoWay, there's heavier stuff coming in later.

This batch of cold is only this weekend, but there is potential for some areas later this coming week.

Just started in Kent, very light and fine at the moment. My daughter stayed with us last night and is terrified that she might get snowed in with her parents!

GloriaSmud · 17/03/2018 07:43

Brie ~ I think they all should be OK. Your Son in Birmingham should be OK as long as they get back before this evening (loads of snow arriving for the Birmingham area tonight.)

hoochymama1 · 17/03/2018 07:57

Nothing here in NE Derbyshire. I think it's all a bit unpredictable though. Thanks Gloria and OYBBK for keeping the weather watch Thanks

OublietteBravo · 17/03/2018 08:04

Just a dusting of snow on the cars this morning in Bedford. Plus one or two flakes of very fine snow still falling. The forecast is now showing wind rather than snow for today/tomorrow.
