Am currently away in Cumbria in a rather isolated spot.....hoping I don’t need rescuing by helicopter! Guess I ought to go and panic buy bread, etc!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/03/2018 13:49

Jeffrey, at the moment and this may change...

snow will start early morning, in the form of showers. I think it will take time for this to settle then through the afternoon it will become more persistent and eventually heavy. I'm looking to clear out of there by around 5pm unless it settles early.

Beautiful day here in North Essex (on the Suffolk border), 15 degrees.

Amber warning for snow during the night and tomorrow Hmm

Ouch44 · 16/03/2018 13:53

The washing is on the line. I am poised to rescue it.

MorvahRising · 16/03/2018 14:22

One minute the Met Office says we have heavy snow tomorrow, then it changes to light snow, then heavy then light again! So far today it’s been due to start at 6, 7, 9, 11 and it currently says 8 am. (Surrey).

Meanwhile gorgeous day here!

NoWayNoHow · 16/03/2018 14:35

We're doing SW London - North Devon and back this weekend. Think we'll be alright getting down Saturday morning (hopefully) but do you fancy our chances getting back on Sunday afternoon? Essentially, we'll be on the A303 across Wiltshire/Somerset etc...

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 16/03/2018 14:52

So far I've heard, midnight on Sunday, 9am tomorrow morning, 3am tonight/tomorrow and 4pm tomorrow afternoon !!! I don't believe anything unless I read it here, from our weather angels

coughingbean · 16/03/2018 15:03

Beautifully sunny here to!

MrsJoshDun · 16/03/2018 15:08

Cumbria forecast changes from no snow to heavy snow and back again hourly.

hoochymama1 · 16/03/2018 15:32

Heh heh ouch I was thinking of doing the same. Really warm here, and amber warnings for Sat and Sun Hmm

Ouch44 · 16/03/2018 15:39

Washing almost dry in 2 hours. Sun gone in though Hmm

Can cancel hotel until 6pm tonight. It's given me a headache thinking about it. My DD is going to be so upset if we have to cancel.

rainbowruthie · 16/03/2018 15:39

Really, seriously pissed off - our yellow warnings have now gone to amber

HelenaDove · 16/03/2018 15:59

So have ours rainbow If this weather is going to happen more often then more is going to have to be spent on gritting etc or they are going to have to keep taking the hits to the economy. They cant have it both ways.

Its my nieces birthday on Monday and i was supposed to be popping over to see her tomorrow Buses were running here on 1st March when it was really bad but not the 3rd when it was melting so there is no way of knowing.

Its a 40 min walk and i usually do walk but cant do that on snow and ice.

We did have an amber warning for 27 February for snow but got none at all that day.

fortyfourfeasts · 16/03/2018 16:04

Bloody amber for us on Saturday. And then the border of the yellow warning for us seems to be across our house!! So, back garden snowy, front garden warm and sunny Grin Fed up now. Want spring.

IWantMyHatBack · 16/03/2018 16:05

OYBBK - Can I ask about Oxfordshire? We've got to drive across the county on Saturday and then back again on Sunday afternoon. I think Saturday will be OK as leaving early, do you think it's got the potential to be quite bad on Sunday?

MrSlant · 16/03/2018 16:23

Oh! So that's why Tesco was packed and, yet again, the shelves are bare. We haven't properly re-stocked from last time yet. I went into nearest large town last week and there was a serious lack of food in the cafes still. I know we are rural and on the edge so to speak but it's a tiny bit ridiculous. Anyway, fortunately plans are 'play sport if sport is on' so lets see what happens.

Titsywoo · 16/03/2018 16:41

Yes Gloria - tomorrow evening :( Brighton doesn't look bad and we'll be travelling on main roads so hopefully they'll grit well tonight! No way am I missing this party!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 16/03/2018 16:44

We’ve got an amber warning, just on the edge. I love winter but I had plans to go into south London on Saturday. I’m stubborn enough to go. I love winter but this is getting ridiculous!

MorvahRising · 16/03/2018 16:46

Hey ho! Back to heavy snow now, and much earlier than they were saying a couple of hours ago. Hmm

SpringNowPlease2018 · 16/03/2018 16:51

Accuweather is saying there's an orange warning for my area
I don't think an orange warning exists unless they mean they're going to turn up about my house, slap my cheeks and give out free cans of Tango

Clearly an Argh Scale would be much more useful.

NoWayNoHow · 16/03/2018 16:52

Erm, Morvah I'm sure I read somewhere upthred you're in Surrey?! Help!! Does that mean it's on it's way here soon too? We're Surrey/Richmond Borough borders. Yikes!!

MorvahRising · 16/03/2018 17:28

NoWay every time I check the Met Office it seems to have changed! Currently saying heavy snow in the afternoon tomorrow here but we’re further south than you. It’ll probably change overnight! It is a bit yikes though as I’m doing a lot of driving tomorrow.

GloriaSmud · 16/03/2018 17:38

More updated warnings including an Amber one now for the SW and one for ice, on Monday.

GloriaSmud · 16/03/2018 18:16

And issued yesterday, a metoffice Level 3 Cold Weather Alert.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 16/03/2018 18:33

@HelenaDove
If I recall correctly you are in the next town to me.
If so, this will be fun if the snow does arrive. Smile
