Will there be any weather warnings issued?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/03/2018 07:35

Maybe for the NE of Scotland, I don't think for elsewhere, GFS is much less hung ho this morning, with just a little lying snow for around the London area.

I think it's most likely that it will be a very cold few days with scattered snow showers that don't really come to anything.

Thanks Kitten

CanIBuffalo · 14/03/2018 12:58

Damn not you're not the only one.Smile

MorvahRising · 14/03/2018 13:41

We seem to have a weather warning for snow overnight on Saturday! I can’t believe anything will come of it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/03/2018 13:47

oh bollocks.

warnings

sorry all. I'm not paying proper attention at the moment. Any spare time I have is being spent on the whole Russia thing.

For most in the warning areas I still don't think it will come to much. I still think areas through the Thames valley and the NE are most at risk for anything more than that, but please keep an eye on official warnings.

I was going to say 'here we go again' but maybe only for some areas on this occasion.

Latest outlook from the metoffice.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:
Friday rain in the noth and east, sunshine and showers in the southwest. Turning very cold this weekend. Risk of snow, especially on Sunday, mainly in the east and south.

UK Outlook for Monday 19 Mar 2018 to Wednesday 28 Mar 2018:
Monday will be another very cold day, it will also be largely dry and bright aside from a few snow showers. Gradually, from Tuesday onwards, wet, windy and milder weather is expected to make a return, particularly in the north where rain is likely to be preceded by a spell of snow. In the south it should remain dry, bright and cold with some sunshine. However, later in the week, wet and windy weather is likely to push across all parts before we see a return to colder and brighter weather by the weekend. Into the following week there is significant uncertainty in the forecast but a blocked or only slowly changing weather pattern seems most likely.

UK Outlook for Thursday 29 Mar 2018 to Thursday 12 Apr 2018:
There is significant uncertainty in the forecast throughout this period, but a blocked or slowly changing weather pattern is probable. There will most likely be a balance between Atlantic frontal systems affecting the south and west at times with colder air associated with high pressure out to the northeast. Mixed conditions are likely with wetter than average conditions expected across the south, while staying drier and perhaps colder to the north. Further snow is possible, especially in the north where it will also be windy at times. Temperatures will likely be below average with further night frosts, and any milder interludes will probably be only brief.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/03/2018 21:49

snow showers are possible pretty much anywhere away from the west coast on Saturday. I think that the peak district could be a bit of a hot spot, as well as parts of the east.

Noooo go away little beast Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/03/2018 07:20

Hmm, it looks like early on Saturday East Anglia and parts of Lincolnshire could now get a decent amount. Other places also getting some snow first thing then perhaps later in the day too.
This includes London.

I have no idea how much will settle though, the ground has warmed up some and won't have time to cool down before it starts snowing.

This thread is very quiet.... I think some could be in for a bit of a surprise/shock.

WreckTangled · 15/03/2018 08:04

I'm reading too Grin I'm assuming we won't get any though, maybe the odd wintry shower.

CiderwithBuda · 15/03/2018 08:31

There are some mutterings of snow here in Somerset but I’m hoping it will just be higher ground etc. Fingers crossed!

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 15/03/2018 08:35

I'm here. ..watching...panicking.....!!!!

hoochymama1 · 15/03/2018 08:39

Heavy snow here NE Derbyshire forecast for Sat/Sun according to the met office, temp down to -3 on those days Shock

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/03/2018 08:51

icantdothis - at the moment it looks ok, a little warmer. But, remember from last time that snow showers can pop up at short notice. I know that's not a helpful thing to say to someone who is anxious about it, but I'd prefer to be truthful.

Some thoughts from TheWeatherOutlook on this weekend's weather.

MorvahRising · 15/03/2018 09:16

Saturday is now looking snowy here as well as Sunday, between 50% and 70% chance which is higher than I was expecting! I’m picking DS up from university on Saturday so I think I shall leave early!

TheLastNigel · 15/03/2018 09:24

If we don't get any in Herts AGAIN the DD's are going to go mad Grin
