Usual disclaimer - Gloria and I are amateurs, fitting this in round our home and work lives. We do our best, we sometimes get things wrong! Please don't make important decisions based on what we say, always refer to the met office website first.

Hi ,

I am desperately trying to convince my husband NOT to travel to work today but he's saying that it wouldn't look good on him if he doesn't. (Non-essential job btw).

Any advice for the forecast in the Daventry/Northampton area please??

Thank you x

No more snow overnight in my bit of Manchester.

Very high winds though, I thought we were going to lose the roof.

Very grey and cold here

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/03/2018 06:43

Today's pulse of snow moving up by 1600 according to the GFS 00z run.

So London should get some?

BestIsWest · 02/03/2018 06:47

No snow here in Swansea, or just a dusting but both our offices are closed. I have to work from home but DH has the day off.

DCs are in Cardiff so waiting to see how they’ve fared.

Not expecting any snow today although We are in Amber zone.

Winds are ferocious though.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/03/2018 06:48

As you can see the pulse of snow pretty well stalls and gently fizzles out over night.

Please note though these are forecasts and we've seen how rapidly things can change!

Bestiswest, I think you are correct with that assessment. Mumsnut yes.

@Lupiform ~ just saw your post from last night, does this and this help with information on trains?

boldlygoingsomewhere · 02/03/2018 06:50

Doesn't look like we had any more snow overnight here in SW Surrey. Not feeling as cold as previously. Husband's left for work but said he'll turn round if roads are bad.

All local schools still shut though.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/03/2018 06:52

Flower at the moment it seems you are likely to see some heavier snow this afternoon, depending on what sort of roads you live on and their current condition, perhaps your dh could consider coming home at lunchtime as a compromise.

Morning OYBBK Smile
Any more snow for you overnight?

SnowiestMountain · 02/03/2018 06:53

No more snow in north Cheshire, absolutely freezing and so windy, school will be open though but we'll need about 10 layers on for the trip there!

Mumsnut · 02/03/2018 06:54

Grrrr

About to set off to put ds on his school coach, for which we'll probably have to wait half an hour. And then I bet the school will close at lunchtime.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/03/2018 06:56

No, no more snow :) The snow feels a bit heavier and damper though, temps have risen. Hilariously the wind has been rearranging the snow to clear some of my paths, but depositing it elsewhere.

Absolute chaos in the Scottish Borders, the whole region is more or less shut down, we live high in the hills two miles off road so have been snowed in since Tuesday but even the A road at the bottom has been shit for 3 days! Any sign of a thaw up here OYBBK or Gloria? Thanks, glued to these threads 😊

howyalikedemapples · 02/03/2018 06:57

Shut not shit! Although it is shit haha 😂

GloriaSmud · 02/03/2018 06:58

Ah ~ useful snow. Knows where to put itself!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 02/03/2018 07:01

That makes sense about the wind and ice, OYBBK.

Is it possible we didn’t have freezing rain but just rain? My windows aren’t icy just wet and whatever has been falling for most of the night has been running off the guttering onto the concrete below like it usually does.

Still plenty of snow about this morning and the wind hasn’t died down yet.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/03/2018 07:06

Rafa yes it is possible :) If things aren't icy you had a close call. Phew! What's your temp like now?

OP posts:
Lupiform · 02/03/2018 07:07

Thanks, Gloria! Good idea, I will investigate.

WreckTangled · 02/03/2018 07:09

Doesn't look like we had anymore overnight.

We are stuck in the village now until the snow thaws as it's all hilly back roads out. Neighbours with 4x4's help out if you need supplies though.

Notmyactualname · 02/03/2018 07:13

We have a layer over of ice over our snow - the windows are all covered in ice. We in a little rural village in Dorset and my husband is adamant he is going to work Angry

Stay safe everyone
