Usual disclaimer - Gloria and I are amateurs, fitting this in round our home and work lives. We do our best, we sometimes get things wrong! Please don't make important decisions based on what we say, always refer to the met office website first.

I guess my point is... if you have a weather warning coming up you might be suprosed how conditions can change fairly rapidly. Don't be embarrassed to do a little contingency planning.

falcon5 · 01/03/2018 19:33

But my question weather people is when's it looking to ease up on dartmoor on this really windy snow that is blowing all directions?

FuzzyCustard · 01/03/2018 19:34

We're cut off too.

I laugh at the notion of no public transport as we don't have any anyway. Four buses a week (which will end later this year) don't really count!

On the good side I have just ordered myself a new pair of Wellington Boots off t'internet. And two pairs of flip flops. That should cover everything.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2018 19:35

You're very right Falcon.

Falcon snow should calm down tonight, but the very strong winds could last through tomorrow. I think by the end of Saturday you should see an easing in conditions.

Fife coast signing in. Today we're on an amber warning and it's been horrendous. Much worse than yesterday's red warning. Very little respite from snow, it's blowing a hoolie and beyond freezing. Amber again tomorrow. Stay safe everyone and thanks everyone for your posts, especially Kitten and Gloria. BrewCakeFlowers

UrsulaPandress · 01/03/2018 19:41

I'm off to that London on Monday. I shall be extremely cross if my plans are disrupted.

falcon5 · 01/03/2018 19:46

Thank you kitten... I'm going encourage everyone to go to bed and it'll be better tommorow!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2018 19:52

Good to see you posting Justmuddling :)

Ursula, London should be ok, I'll post more tomorrow about the continued situation for travel . I'm running out of oomph.

Good luck tonight everyone. I've got the heating on and gin, think I'm set whatever happens (incidentally we now have more light snow, really thought it was over and done with for us!)

UrsulaPandress · 01/03/2018 19:53

It's all that pkaying in the snow that has worn you out OYBBK

Jungfraujoch · 01/03/2018 19:53

OYBBK my phone app says minus 2.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/03/2018 20:11

I did feel like a bit of a fraud when I left work saying see you next week and there was only a couple of mm on the ground falcon. I think they thought I was going to pull a fast one tomorrow.

Since the gritters can’t get down the road I’m guessing the buses won’t get through it tomorrow either.

lljkk · 01/03/2018 20:13

Some lads were out driving for fun in the snow, on our road today. They'd drive 80m, turn around (skid around slowly) and then drive back down where they started, skid to turn around... up and down. While mates watched.

I thought it was pretty harmless fun, actually!!

I'm trying to figure out how to get to work tomorrow. Irk.

SaltySeaBird · 01/03/2018 20:17

I’ve reallynot seen much snow - not enough for snowmen or toboggans! Is there likely to be more in the SE (near Brighton) as the apps are saying no now.

Ethelswith · 01/03/2018 20:17

"I'm off to that London on Monday. I shall be extremely cross if my plans are disrupted"

The London marathon organisers are holding a huge (15k entrants) half marathon in in east London on Sunday, and were tweeting today that it's still on. So some people believe that at least the London end of your journey will be OK well before Monday.
