Usual disclaimer - Gloria and I are amateurs, fitting this in round our home and work lives. We do our best, we sometimes get things wrong! Please don't make important decisions based on what we say, always refer to the met office website first.

PointlessUsername ~ Tomasz Schafernaker on Twitter seems to think it will.

Thanks Gloria Flowers

WreckTangled · 01/03/2018 17:52

Thanks everyone we made it home. Think that car is ok?! I know I wanted snow and I'm pleased but I didn't want to crash and I'm so sad for all the other crashes we've seen whilst driving home. People are really struggling out there

hoochymama1 · 01/03/2018 17:53

Ladyflumpalot thank you ThanksThanksThanksHe's fine. Blasted kidsHmm

ThePurpleSheep · 01/03/2018 17:53

Little flurry of snow again here on the East Sussex coast. Since this morning's short spell of snow we have had nothing much to speak of though it's been bitterly cold. Half the schools were closed though (more than on Tuesday when we had a proper dumping) so lots of kids at ours as we have sledges and a good hill! Luckily all big enough to go out without adult help, so I just kept them fed and watered as they came in and provided warm radiators for wet bums and frozen fingers. 😀

Now off out to Cubs on foot and hoping I'll be fine to get back up the hill at 8pm tonight.

Thanks much OYBBK for your view this morning - I did stay home and school did close and I’ve heard local roads are treacherous now, with a lorry stuck on the big hill.

Poor DH had a million plan changes (he is military) and was sent east this morning to be available outside the worst of the weather. The buggers expect him to get a taxi home tomorrow (3 hours in good conditions) - roads will be ice & snow. It will be small day even if anyone will bring him. He only has a few weeks left serving after 15 years of commission. I’m so sick of this. And so worried!

hoochymama1 · 01/03/2018 17:56

Glad your ok Wreck it's no fun out there atm. Wishing a safe and warm evening for everyone BrewCake

NamelessEnsign · 01/03/2018 17:56

But I put some seed out for the birds today and they are happy! Water too but it freezes faster than I can keep up.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/03/2018 17:57

Might be OK on a train @hoochymumma1. Although there are delays and cancellations. It’s the roads police are telling people to stay off.

Accidents everywhere and even a lot of the A roads are blocked.

Unescorted · 01/03/2018 17:59

It has been snowing most of today.... although it is difficult to tell if it is new snow or just snow being blown off the plateau. Hairy hands we must be close.

Most of the roads around and about are closed so people are diverting past our house and then realising the road is closed about 200m along the way.

ajandjjmum · 01/03/2018 18:07

Poppy
DH left the Midlands around noon and travelled down the M40 and M25 into SW London. It was fine but that was some time ago!

oldsilver · 01/03/2018 18:11

All First buses headed back to depot in Bristol as of 1700. Recheck at 6am tomorrow whether they will run from then onwards.

Still snowing.

CoughArghCoughArghCough · 01/03/2018 18:12

Cambs/Suffolk border here. It was snowing gently this morning but the ground is so icy that walking around is a struggle. Looked like freezing rain for a while in the afternoon. The wind is really strong too, so I had a lovely horizontal freezing rain in my eyeballs experience walking back home. At least we only have a few cm of snow, it’s just the iciness that’s a bugger.

whyhastherumgone · 01/03/2018 18:13

Just cancelled our weekend plans as we had relatives coming to stay from Bristol - no chance in current conditions!
Our snow has completely stopped now (Essex) so am hoping that's our lot now.

Sounds pretty scary out there with all the accidents :(

Glad you made it home okay wrecked

CoughArghCoughArghCough · 01/03/2018 18:16

Slightly related tiny rant. I offered to walk to the shops this morning as we’re running out of milk. Dh is working from home, and told me he’d go to the shops on his bike to save me some time. And has he gone? Has he bugger. Now it’s dark and too windy to go. Grr. Hopefully I have a bottle of wine somewhere to make up for the lack of tea. Smile

Oogle · 01/03/2018 18:17

Exercise - I have friends who have been stuck in whiteley for hours now, all in 4x4s but the roads are gridlocked. I’ve not heard from one of them for half an hour so hopefully they’re making the slow journey home. We got home just in time I think and I actually feel a bit sick about what might have happened had we left half an hour later.
I hope everyone gets home safely tonight. We won’t be venturing out tomorrow.

FuzzyCustard · 01/03/2018 18:19

Quite a lot of snow settled here now (North Cornwall) and I suspect the village is cut off (steep hills and narrow minor roads) but I'm not going out to look!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2018 18:28

Sorry, had to pop out a bit - well I didn't have to but I fancied it Grin

You could have helped with the horses.

It was bloody grim.

GloriaSmud · 01/03/2018 18:30

Snowball fight and sledging in the dark was it, OYBBK?!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2018 18:30

Pointless yes, I think that London may be impacted a bit by Emma. Emma ate too much cold air and got big. Bad Emma! (actually I don't know why she seems bigger but that sounds good!)

It's a common thing with us Emmas, OYBBK, I ate all the pies too 😂

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2018 18:32

It was a snowball fight Grin and a bit of a walk.
If my meeting gets cancelled tomorrow I'm off sledging!
