Usual disclaimer - Gloria and I are amateurs, fitting this in round our home and work lives. We do our best, we sometimes get things wrong! Please don't make important decisions based on what we say, always refer to the met office website first.

Met office saying no more snow for us in Surrey this evening but it’s coming down quite steadily and has been for three hours now. Looks like we are getting the far eastern edge of the storm.

Riverside2 · 01/03/2018 17:05

Kitten & Gloria, any chance of a thaw in Essex/London borders on Saturday?

summersgoneaway · 01/03/2018 17:05

Maniac here so heavy

Exercisejunkieforlife · 01/03/2018 17:07

Lots of snow here just outside of Portsmouth in waterlooville still coming and meant to stay a while. All 3 DC school closed tomorrow.

DH however left whitely at 3 after me begging him to and he’s still stuck there, this happened in 2010 and I spent the night alone, pregnant and with 7yr old DD1. I’m worried and feeling sick about that.

I also had a car accident in 2010 when we had frozen rain and now refuse to drive in any snow or ice myself.

hoochymama1 · 01/03/2018 17:07

Thanks Rafals that's what I've just told him Grin Silly idiot Shock

icantdothis2017 · 01/03/2018 17:07

Had enough of this now

Snow is shit

JillJ72 · 01/03/2018 17:10

@GloriaSmud fingers crossed it gets to you! In N Bucks and it has snowed most of the day but with more oomph since about 1400h. We now have ca 5cm although who knows if could be more because the wind is also whipping it up. The roads were not good on the school run so hoping husband and other end of day traffic is OK. It's now -4°C on the shed - it's risen that little bit this afternoon with this snow. My chickens want to play. Maybe tomorrow.... if we can get rid of that wind a bit.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/03/2018 17:10

There’s a broken down bus in Newton Pop but I’ve not heard anything about an overturned one.

Poor guy doing the travel news on Radio Devon is earning his money today. Think he might need a lie down when he gets to the end.

hoochymama1 · 01/03/2018 17:10

He just caught the train to Gillingham Hmm

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 01/03/2018 17:11

North Wales coast. It has been snowing since midday, we've had a top temperature of zero degrees; starting to set in the last hour or so. This morning the BBC forecast a dry day! Making plans to not go anywhere tomorrow. It's a blizzard now!

Cismyfatarse1 · 01/03/2018 17:14

On the West Coast of Scotland here - near south Skye. Not a flake. Blue skies are just beginning to cloud over. Metoffice suggests no snow.

Any hope? Would love some!

whyhastherumgone · 01/03/2018 17:16

@wreck oh no hope you're okay!

@hoochy you definitely deserve wine! Mmm lovely warming wine.

Well it's stopped snowing in Billericay and Chelmsford now, although it snowed pretty much all morning. Not sure if we're due anymore?
Met Office was showing heavy snow over night but it seems to have changed its mind now, so I'm guessing the snow has moved further west maybe?
What say you Kitten and Gloria, you reckon Essex is in the clear now? :)

@exercisejunkieforlife I really don't blame you about not driving in this weather. Hope your DH gets home safely.

LadyFlumpalot · 01/03/2018 17:16

@hoochymama1 - Gillingham in Dorset? That's the next town over from me. If I am offer any assistance?

pumpersnatch · 01/03/2018 17:17

Just seen this on Twitter. I'm in South London/Surrey borders. Could it be true?
Got 3 kid's crossing fingers!!

20poppy14 · 01/03/2018 17:18

pumpersnatch · 01/03/2018 17:19

Emma isn’t behaving as modelled she has a mind of her own. I’d say it’s impossible for it to avoid SE England note the precipitation in the English Channel it’s going north! t.co/tXByHp6xln

OMD this thread is giving me so many ear worms

Gloria!!! That was such a great song.

and now someone said "in the clear" I immediately picture Taylor Swift in the frozen scenes in Out of the Woods.

sorry, back to weather....

Riverside2 · 01/03/2018 17:19

THE COLD NEVER BOTHERED ME ANYWAY
such a lie but just wanted to sing it.

yes, I have cabin fever.

GloriaSmud · 01/03/2018 17:20

JillJ72 ~ yes, we've had similar weather to you today. It isn't nice out there now ~ the wind's got up and snow's drifting all over the place.

OYBBK ~ we shall see what (if anything) reaches us!

YearOfYouRemember · 01/03/2018 17:21

I feel for the woman who gave birth on the A66.

PointlessUsername · 01/03/2018 17:24

I just read on Twitter that the storm that was due to Hit SW has extended somewhat to the east and may hit London too?

Is that Likely OYBBK?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/03/2018 17:25

I think we’re now cut off. Probably OK in town, but not much chance of getting out.

Howyoualldoworkme · 01/03/2018 17:30

Hi Exercisejunkieforlife
Yes we've got quite a lot here now. I emailed some of my ex colleagues who live up this way to leave work early and hopefully they got home ok.
All the taxi firms have announced they're charging 1and a half x normal fares.
Sent Youngest Minion to the Tesco Express and they're pretty well stocked. We only needed milk thank goodness.
Hope your DH gets home soon, I was stuck on a bus in the 2010 snow and it can make you very panicky about bad weather Flowers
