Usual disclaimer - Gloria and I are amateurs, fitting this in round our home and work lives. We do our best, we sometimes get things wrong! Please don't make important decisions based on what we say, always refer to the met office website first.

I think its stopped snowing here now.

But still snowing at my mums and further down the coast at my brothers - his huskies and malamutes are loving it.

Mum has nearly 2 feet of snow. Shock

Here we have a couple of inches I think.

DD's school has just texted to say closing early today (no mention of buses!!) and closed tomorrow. The boys schools haven't said anything yet.

Thatsanicething · 01/03/2018 13:26

Red zone central Scotland. 10 inches fell through the night on top of the 5 that were already there. And it is still coming down 😭 husband is stuck in Manchester for another day at least.
And I’m low on bread and milk.
Cabin fever setting in. Especially as school is off again tomorrow!

FuzzyCustard · 01/03/2018 13:27

We have a few very fine flakes of snow coming down.
The view from the window is odd...first two fields I can see are green....the ones further away than that are white!

AlishaMary · 01/03/2018 13:29

My WeatherPro app says my current weather is “snow grains” Confused

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/03/2018 13:30

I don't think I ever remember seeing the road this bad in 20years. Maybe once but that's it.

Butternutissquashed · 01/03/2018 13:37

Near Cardiff. Lots of powdery snow that's blowing round but it seems to have gone quiet. Is this the calm before the storm? Thinking of childcare options if school is closed tomorrow...

drinkswineoutofamug · 01/03/2018 13:39

According to the weather app we have freezing rain with 37kmp winds .
Have to leave the house soon for an appointment

youarenotkiddingme · 01/03/2018 13:40

Been snowing for for an hour. Very light but laying a little. Flakes getting bigger now so hopefully we'll have enough to play a little before it's dark and freezing! South Hampshire

summersgoneaway · 01/03/2018 13:43

Heavy snow here now

Oogle · 01/03/2018 13:44

you it's laying on my car now and I'm currently right next to a rather big river so it is coming down much quicker (I so need to name change!) DCs pre-school still open with no mention of early closure - I am very impressed with them!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2018 13:45

snowing here again too :)

Between Sheffield and Nottingham here

We’ve had about 4 inches and even main roads are very slippery - gritters have been out but doesn’t seem to have had the desired effect.
Most schools are closed today - many closed early yesterday. No word on tomorrow as it looks like that is it for our snowfall according to forecast (though sky is still white).
Dh said it got worse coming south from Sheffield (he got a bit stuck earlier).

Snownechanger · 01/03/2018 13:52

Snow drifts here are huge. I’ve just had to abandon my car and walk 2 miles home

FuzzyCustard · 01/03/2018 13:52

The radar now says the dark blue stuff is about 4 miles away and the green stuff is about 12 miles away. Still only one or two bits of "dandruff" blowing about.

MrsKCastle · 01/03/2018 13:53

My DH is supposed to be coming home from Lincoln to the SE tomorrow and I have just seen that Virgin East Coast are asking passengers not to travel until Saturday. Sad My DDs will be most upset if they don't get their dad back when they expect.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2018 13:55

Snownechanger - impressive sculpting! I hope you didn't get too cold.

it has been snowing pretty much solidly all day now here in the Red zone in Scotland. Sideways snow driven by a strong biting wind. Much worse than yesterday. Quite scary now

youarenotkiddingme · 01/03/2018 13:57

Oogle its a large town and area! I doubt I'd know you from Adam - nor anyone else Grin
Coming down here quite heavily now. Snow radar shows we are on eastern edge of that clump on radar.

NoStraightEdges · 01/03/2018 13:57

I'm in Birmingham. It's snowed all day but it's so dry, I've never seen anything like this. It's not settling either. Any idea what's supposed to happen for us OYBBK ?

youarenotkiddingme · 01/03/2018 13:58

Snow that's pretty to look at but scary to be in I imagine. I hope your ok after your walk and at home walking up nicely.

Oogle · 01/03/2018 14:03

Ooh not you you, I know I have family on here Grin

Yes, heavy here now. We've told the one member of staff who came in to go home. I've got a 4x4 with a "snow button" so staying put for the time being. Will leave within the hour I expect.

Pennina · 01/03/2018 14:03

I think I'm in a parallel universe! Maybe 2" in nw London. Bit more in East Herts where frequently travel. It's colder than normal but not much snow. Weird. All I read about is major snow and disruption but nothing here!

Belindabelle · 01/03/2018 14:05

I am surprised that Central Scotland has been downgraded to Amber. Like others have said today is worse than yesterday. Stronger winds and much more snow.
We all have cabin fever too. Just too cold and raw to go out and play. I could be doing with walking to the shops for some supplies but the weather is brutal.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2018 14:06

hang in there dementedma. I hope you are nice and warm at least.
NoStraightEdges, I think it will get heavier this evening for you.

Any ideas for Cheshire OYBBK? We're getting loads of flurries but not much 'proper snow' just absolutely freezing wind!
