Usual disclaimer - Gloria and I are amateurs, fitting this in round our home and work lives. We do our best, we sometimes get things wrong! Please don't make important decisions based on what we say, always refer to the met office website first.

@whatalifethisis nope. It's for the south west.
Absolutely nothing falling where I am. Gutted.

Wingbing · 01/03/2018 09:38

Sending DH for supplies whilst the roads are still clear here

Do2Little · 01/03/2018 09:39

Snowing & settling here (edge of red warning in SW) and we NEVER ever get snow normally.

KittyConCarne · 01/03/2018 09:45

So disappointed to wake up to no snow whatsoever Sad
Oogle and youarenotkiddingme - did you get anything at all overnight?
I'm near the big Asda, but family near Lee say they got a good covering- seems crazy to have such differences in small areas!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/03/2018 09:45

Obviously nobody else is going to work today I’ve got the whole bus to myself. Roads looking clear at the moment, just a ridiculous diversion to negotiate. But it might be better traffic wise than it has been all week.

Oogle · 01/03/2018 09:51

kitty we had maybe 1 or 2mm but not settled everywhere - my driveway had it but not my garden. Roads all clear and hardly anything on pavements.

LadyFlumpalot · 01/03/2018 09:56

The forecast is changing almost by the minute! I looked a few minutes ago and I had 90% chance of heavy snow at 1pm. Now I have no heavy snow til 3pm and only a small possibility!

BirgitteNyborg · 01/03/2018 09:58

SE Dorset here - 1-2 cm snow on the ground. It's very dry and powdery and blowing around. DH has gone to work in Poole and says main roads fine and clear. Traffic light as all schools shut!

Kids went outside to play excited by the novelty of it but only lasted 10 mins. Now stuck indoors with them all day :(

DartmoorDoughnut · 01/03/2018 09:58

Pretty much stopped here now but is meant to kick in at about 1500

KittyConCarne · 01/03/2018 10:00

Thanks Oogle - at least I know it's not just my street lol- was starting to feel very jealous of neighbouring village!
All the forecasts I've been watching are still showing snow for my postcode (like they've been doing since 4am haha), so maybe there's still a hope for this afternoon- keeping fingers crossed.

Spudlet · 01/03/2018 10:01

We haven't had much extra snow here in south Norfolk, but the wind has got up and what we have is drifting. Our road (a B road) doesn't seem to have been gritted, and there was a post on our village Facebook page this morning asking for someone with a tractor to go and pull cars out of drifts on one of the other main roads out of the village. The met office reckons it feels like -13°C which I can well believe.

Definitely not a day to be venturing out unless you absolutely have to!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/03/2018 10:01

Same here. It’s been quite consistent about the 90% chance of heavy snow from 5pm but this morning’s forecast has been changing every time I’ve refreshed the page. It’s gone from heavy to light to no snow and backpack again with anything from a 30-90% chance.

youarenotkiddingme · 01/03/2018 10:03

I'm near station. We had snow at 5am but it wasn't heavy and only laid a thin covering. Kitty
We are/we're forecast worst to hit after lunch. Not even sure we can count out chickens about that now!

youarenotkiddingme · 01/03/2018 10:06

Notso if the school bus is contracted and it's too far for children to walk (so over 3 miles) then the school have to record code Y as the la transport was cancelled. It's in the admissions code policy.

Idobelieveinfairies2018 · 01/03/2018 10:07

Have a question. Does anyone know what would happen/what help would be available if u went to work via public transport and then found yourself stuck 8.7 miles from home with walking being the only option?
I'm extremely worried as dh has to catch 2 buses to work and his shift is 1til 3. So return travel is from 3 til 4.30 normally. Where I am the weather warning is being upgraded from yellow to amber at midday and police are advicing against unnecessary travel but his boss is being completely unreasonable. I know boss man can't sack dh but he has made life very difficult in the past regarding wages suddenly being paid late

Mummylin · 01/03/2018 10:09

Snow in Bournemouth , we normally miss out completely ☃️

MorvahRising · 01/03/2018 10:10

My Met Office app is refusing to update. It is telling me it’s snowing heavily here. It really isn’t!

GloriaSmud · 01/03/2018 10:11

Updated weather warnings

Idobelieve ~ I think in that situation, is there any chance of your DH staying at a nearby hotel or at a colleagues house overnight?

GoldInTheAirOfSummer · 01/03/2018 10:13

Met Office app says we are due no further snow in my part of Greater Manchester. However it has said that since last night, when in fact it has been snowing lightly since I got up at 6am.

We haven't got much but the wind is whipping the falling snow round wildly.

GloriaSmud · 01/03/2018 10:15

Idobelieve ~ Don't know whether this helps, I've just seen it on the BBC website

Riverside2 · 01/03/2018 10:16

Man this so boring now.

I see on one website that it might hit 9c on Tuesday....that would be good!

Sostenueto · 01/03/2018 10:16

No more snow fallen today here in Suffolk but very high bitter winds and loose snow being blown about. Remaining snow frozen solid. My village still snowed in but main roads about a mile away are fairly clear but black ice apparently.

Sostenueto · 01/03/2018 10:18

All schools shut and 20cm of snow still hanging about, deeper in some bits where its drifted.

GloriaSmud · 01/03/2018 10:19

Some thoughts from Netweather and TheWeatherOutlook.

Spudlet · 01/03/2018 10:20

Norfolk police are saying on Facebook that a number of A roads are being blocked by lorries that have got stuck in drifts Confused
