Usual disclaimer - Gloria and I are amateurs, fitting this in round our home and work lives. We do our best, we sometimes get things wrong! Please don't make important decisions based on what we say, always refer to the met office website first.

Yes, that's not a good hill to get stuck on. I have a friend in Lovedean who got stuck overnight in her car in 2010! So I wouldn't risk Chichester either.
We're very close to the town centre so all walkable but I have bad arthritis so won't risk it if it's icy.

Well I was snowed in for a week in Clanfield end of February 1970 so this doesn't surprise me.

On the edge of the red warning area!

Wingbing · 01/03/2018 08:57

Rafals it’s slowed down a little but still falling.

drinkswineoutofamug · 01/03/2018 08:58

Morning from Cheshire east.
Snow and very windy. Just had a text from work informing us of the volunteer 4x4 drivers to get us to work.
College is cancelled not sure about schools.
Not seen any buses.
I may stay in my pjs today and eat bacon butties

We've been downgraded from amber to yellow but are on edge of amber area.

Tbh think the fact we have suddenly developed red and amber/yellow has changed shows that the oath of the storm and the beast cannot be accurately predicted and it's best to take precaution of you are anywhere in the UK or Ireland!

This is the east side of Haldon Hill

There's going to be some big drifts. Not too deep on the roofs because it's getting blown off. But must be a good 8 inches in the garden.

hoochymama1 · 01/03/2018 09:02

We'll blow me down, the Ocado bloke got through. Nothing going along my road at all (north Derbyshire)

BishopBrennansArse · 01/03/2018 09:04

So pants here 🙄

notsomanky · 01/03/2018 09:05

Still snowing steadily here.

2 out of my 3 kids high schools are closed, my DD's school is open, but the school bus on our estate never turned up. She waited an hour and came home crying. I have her in a hot bath now, but when i called school they basically implied it will be unauthorised as they are open. Angry

Our council tweeted to say not to travel unless absolutely necessary so i will see what school come back to me with - DH is furious!

Oogle · 01/03/2018 09:06

You I'm slightly further west than you I think (if you're that close to Aldi anyway!), I'm 0.5miles east of T'field.

Snow pretty much stopped at work which is 3 miles west of F'ham.

My Dentist has cancelled my appointment though!

WreckTangled · 01/03/2018 09:07

Bishop same here. I'm so disappointed it really seems like we might not get much at all

Oogle · 01/03/2018 09:08

We're not going to get much either Wreck, I am also disappointed.

FreshTart · 01/03/2018 09:12

Cambrian coast (NW Wales) on the edge of the amber warning - snowing lightly here so far but ice is the major concern. DDs school shut today and tomorrow, DSs college open but he has a 2and half hour journey to get there so not sending him. Plus I cant get the car off our drive due to thick ice. Oh and to cap it all, the bottled gas pipes have frozen so no cooker. Just praying the electric doesnt go off too!

LadyFlumpalot · 01/03/2018 09:13

@Wingbing is that near Sidmouth? I have family there and they were telling me it is near on impossible to get over to Exeter in the snow.

Swifey · 01/03/2018 09:14

North Wilts Devizes area - Snowing here, and our tiny village school is shut, so yay 😊 a snow day!! ❄️️🌨☃️

drinkswineoutofamug · 01/03/2018 09:25

Just downloaded the accuweather app, apart from it saying I live next door, it's the best real time weather app other than looking out the window!

Wingbing · 01/03/2018 09:25

About 25 miles from Sidmouth Ladyflump. There are a lot of vehicles on standby to keep haldon Hill clear. I can’t quite see the a38 from here as I am at the bottom of a hill. Won’t be able to get out later.

icantdothis2017 · 01/03/2018 09:26

West Sussex here .
Looks like we've avoided the worst of it .
Tiny tiny amount here

pigsinmud · 01/03/2018 09:26

Central Surrey - bit rubbish. Fine snow blowing around. Doesn't look like we're going to get much. Loads of schools closed, but not my village and local town. There's less snow than yesterday and the roads are clearer so it seems odd.

whatalifethisis · 01/03/2018 09:27

One of our staff members has just told me a red warning has been issued for the South East. I can't see any info on this at all...has anybody else heard this?

gttia · 01/03/2018 09:28

I'm watching that - haven't seen anything myself but that wouldn't be good!

Cadsuane · 01/03/2018 09:28

I just leaned out my back door (Glasgow) with a measuring tape. It was 30 cm(12 inches) and that was in a relatively sheltered bit, where it has drifted it looks at least 2 feet.

Summer70 · 01/03/2018 09:36

Not much here in Hampshire/edge of new forest. School open although lots of others have closed locally. Don’t really know why as roads fine! Looks like worst of it will be West if here much to our disappointment!
