Those in the Cotswolds ~ steady snow tomorrow, lasting most of the day. Could be light with the occasional heavy burst. Friday ~ snow in the afternoon/overnight (but would keep an eye on the forecast for both days as don't think any of the weather models/the metoffice have got this low nailed yet.)

prettythepig ~ more or less the same as the cotswolds, snow maybe midday onwards. Snow showers Friday (but as with the Cotswolds, keep an eye on the forecast.)

MadisonAvenue · 28/02/2018 12:50

It's coming down quite heavily in South Staffs after a lovely sunny morning.

whyhastherumgone · 28/02/2018 12:51

Gosh sounds like some of you have a LOT of snow. It's finally stopped here in Essex (Stanford-Le-Hope) but crikey, the winds are getting up and blowing snow all over the show. Forecast is showing more on the way but it also says it should be snowing heavily right now....but it's not, and the sun's come out so I'm wondering if that's our lot?

Stay safe everyone!

@stubbornstains so glad she got rescued, what a nightmare!

justforthisthread101 · 28/02/2018 12:51

@OhYouBadBadKitten, thank you!

GloriaSmud · 28/02/2018 12:52

Plenty of snow showers moving in here.

GuinefortGrey · 28/02/2018 12:52

Stubborn that sounds terrifying, so glad to read your update that your neighbour and young DC have been rescued. Did the snow come on really suddenly?

whyhastherumgone · 28/02/2018 12:52

@ajandjjmum okay, I need the story of the Christmas saving! Grin

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 28/02/2018 12:53

Imelda we have exactly the same thing for my forecast in Kent for tomorrow/Friday, some places say minimal light snow and others prolonged heavy Confused

Sostenueto · 28/02/2018 12:53

It just won't stop blooming snowing! Its bitter cold, my pup frantic to go for a walk but no way Hosea! Over 6 inches now at least.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 12:54

The cotswolds are going to see a good accumulation by the end of tomorrow!

I'd stick with the met office for forecasts, not so much their automated outputs, but keep an eye on their twitter. The bbc tends to be overcooking the temperatures and lagging behind.

I am eternally grateful for Gloria for sharing the load of forecasting :) When I first started doing this I was a sahm with no job, I now have to fit this around my work. Fortunately it is part time!

I'll check through and see if there are any unanswered questions.

alwaysontime - you might not be tomorrow! More snow to come I'm afraid in N Yorkshire.

@OhYouBadBadKitten I'm saddened that I've only just stumbled across your brilliance! BBC weather seems to be completely wrong for my area today.

dementedma · 28/02/2018 13:00

We have moved to red warning here in Fife. Pretty used to snow here but the wind is really picking up and we now have white out blizzard conditions.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 13:00

whyhastherumgone - (because it's cold?) - I think you'll probably just get the odd snow shower for the rest of the day. Possibly some more tomorrow later on.

Grin We had a 'challenging' exchange student staying with us for the Autumn term, who was due to fly home around the 20th. Everyone said 'light snow' except for OYBBK who said 'Armageddon'. I nagged the school so much, they changed her flight (at some expense), whilst clearly thinking I'd lost it. OYBBK was right - and loads of people were caught out. She ended up on the last flight out of Heathrow before it was shut - and at that time of the year, there would have been no chance of getting her on another pre-Christmas flight once the airport re-opened. I'm not being totally mean - she'd made our lives hell for a good couple of months with her demands - I couldn't face it over Christmas too. Even DH asks 'what does Snowy Kitten think?' - she's a legend (albeit by a different name!) in our family.
gttia · 28/02/2018 13:01

It's says snow all day here tmrw!

All my children's schools are shut and we knew last night the busses wouldn't be running. DH is the only person to go to work on our road.

mrsdolittle · 28/02/2018 13:06

Thanks kitten. You are the best!!!!

TheSacredCow · 28/02/2018 13:08

OK, so DH and I have cancelled our romantic minibreak to Snowdonia as the hotel said that the side roads are already quite bad and more snow is expected.

We now want to try and go early tomorrow morning out of Oxford and down to Somerset, just beyond Taunton, using the M4 and M5. Most weather forecasting saying heavy snow won't start until 12 noon, so we are aiming to get into the West Country by 11am.

So far in Oxford, just a few snow flurries.

Is this a crazy idea?

Thanks in advance

drinkswineoutofamug · 28/02/2018 13:10

Not sure what our warning is in Cheshire east but it's blizzard conditions out there.

Jungfraujoch · 28/02/2018 13:10

So, DS set off this morning for Snowdonia. They are staying near Betws y Coed. Looks like light snow but very cold. OBKK can you confirm please? Hopefully they’ll make it back on Friday!

GrouchyKiwi · 28/02/2018 13:10

It's really coming down now. Sideways. I can understand why they've issued the red warning. Visibility is awful.
