We've got some updated weather warnings.
Amber warning for Lincolnshire/Yorkshire/Humber areas today and the yellow warning's been extended westwards.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 11:07

glee - I have to dash in a mo but if you absolutely must go, go first thing. I would be looking at cancelling - youll be travelling into a very difficult area.

We've got some serious blizzards going on here at the moment in South Yorkshire

GrouchyKiwi · 28/02/2018 11:18

Have just taken the children out into the snow. The baby was very unimpressed and kept calling it "yucky".

The snow is lovely and powdery. It's all tiny flakes.

Belindabelle · 28/02/2018 11:20

Red warning for Scotland. 3pm today to 9am tomorrow.

Belindabelle · 28/02/2018 11:23

Central Scotland

GloriaSmud · 28/02/2018 11:27

Yes, a red warning

Don't see that often.

Perihelion · 28/02/2018 11:28

Hard to believe we're about to go into a red warning in my bit of Edinburgh. All the main roads are clear and black. Only about 3cm of snow, but I'm near the Forth so coastal and low. Am sure it will be worse further up the town.
Getting home from work tonight will involve walking.....

GrouchyKiwi · 28/02/2018 11:30

Argh. We're in the Red warning zone. DH had to drive into work today (he usually cycles) but is off tomorrow, thankfully, as it's DD1's birthday.

Wonder if they'll close the office and send everyone home early.

GloriaSmud · 28/02/2018 11:32

I just thought of you when I saw the red warning, Perihelion. Take care up that way.

GloriaSmud · 28/02/2018 11:33

It might be an idea if they do, Grouchy.

UnnecessaryFennel · 28/02/2018 11:35

It's snowing a fair bit in central London now (am right by the Thames)

Ds was most upset this morning - his is the only school open in our area!

hoochymama1 · 28/02/2018 11:38

Flip, really snowing in North Derbyshire. We've just gone into an amber. Thoughts are with those under a red warning. Stay put. Lots of BrewBiscuitCakeSmile

Rhodiolia · 28/02/2018 11:39

I am slightly above the red warning area, our schools are all open and we only have about an inch.

GertrudeBelle · 28/02/2018 11:42

Heavy in central London right now and a pregnant-looking sky

Bunnyjo · 28/02/2018 11:44

We are within the amber warning area and it’s a whiteout here. Over 15cm snow now and it’s still coming down. At this rate, I think schools will be closed tomorrow - some businesses are starting to send the staff home now.

Oogle · 28/02/2018 11:45

Metoffice won't load for me and I'm trying to decide what we do ref work tomorrow.
With the huge risk of outing myself, business near Southampton, staff travel in from Bournemouth area. Last I saw, heavy snow set to come in around 4pm but I don't know if this has updated. I don't want staff stuck in snow (and I need to pick up DC from pre-school) but equally, if we close completely and no snow actually arrives, I've lost ££££ for no reason.

I have no idea if we should close completely, wait and see or what! ARGH.

almost hoping my DC pre-school is closed, thus making my decision easier

Oogle · 28/02/2018 11:45

As it is, we have no snow now so I'm very dubious about it actually hitting us anyway!

magimedi · 28/02/2018 11:47

Oogle Try Metcheck - it's very good & is loading OK atm

WreckTangled · 28/02/2018 11:47

Pretty sure it's snowing everywhere in the country but here Hmm

HemanOrSheRa · 28/02/2018 11:55

Where are you Wreck? We're in Bristol and it's not snowing here. And despite being in the Amber warning area tomorrow/Friday, I have my doubts about whether we will even get snow then! DS's head may explode if we don't......Grin

WreckTangled · 28/02/2018 11:58

West Sussex. We did have amber but it's gone now!

Justmuddlingalong · 28/02/2018 12:00

We're in the red warning zone. Shock Think I'll give the elderly neighbours a chap and see if they need any bits from the shops. Hoping DP's works cancels his nightshift. It's a manufacturing job, so not really important, so surely...

Oogle · 28/02/2018 12:02

Thanks Magi, I think the strong winds combined mean I might have to bite the bullet and tell them not to come in. DH and I can divert the phones tonight and potentially work from home if we feel we need to in the morning. I've got a 4x4 but I don't fancy travelling 3 miles to pick DC up from pre-school and 3 miles home in near blizzard conditions. I feel incredibly anxious actually. If it was due to set in before the morning, fine but it's the fact it's coming in during the day which concerns me. I feel like tomorrow is a bit of the "unknown".

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 12:02

I've just seen the red warning. This is really serious. Includes Edinburgh and Glasgow.

For those in the south, keep an eye on tomorrow (not expecting red warnings there apart from just possibly parts of Dartmoor and Exmoor where laying snow could reach 50cm, drifts much much higher)
