We live in rural NE Cumbria and the snow is falling thick and fast, an inch has fallen in the last hour alone. Most schools in North and East Cumbria, including my DC's school. I haven't even attempted to get to work, as I cannot even drive down the lonning to get onto the actual road.

DilysMoon · 28/02/2018 09:49

A sprinkling here in north Cheshire -3 outside but the sun is shining. Am hopeful for lots of snow but it seems that it won't quite reach us according to the forecasts so I'm off to have a cuppa and a sulk. Love hearing about everyone's snow though.

summersgoneaway · 28/02/2018 09:50

Hi bad kitty
Is snow still heavy for south east tomorrow

stubbornstains · 28/02/2018 09:50

Aww.....nothing in my bit of SW Cornwall this morning, although I think it's snowed on the Lizard. (Will get to work on confirming whether, indeed, they have had blizzards on the Lizard Grin).

So, school, 3 miles away down ungritted lanes, is open, and all the kids have gone. Meanwhile, the BBC tells us there's a 98% chance of snowfall at 11.00, and the sky over there > has gone that navy blue colour.....

drinkswineoutofamug · 28/02/2018 10:00

Sat having my breakfast in the canteen. BBC weather says cloudy.
We actually have heavy snow and windy

Do2Little · 28/02/2018 10:01

Which warning is most severe?

Amber or yellow?

Andbabymakesthree · 28/02/2018 10:02

Stubborn I'm at the top of hill in St Austell. Hardly any ice on cars this morning but baby wipes frozen when I went to use one from front seat. My school run is 5 miles. Not bad ones but one big hill.

Snow in manwan Smith and Falmouth. First sign of it sticking I'm getting children. I don't want to get stuck walking to get them with my 14 mth old.

SisterNotCis · 28/02/2018 10:03

Do2 Amber warning is more severe than yellow.

Do2Little · 28/02/2018 10:06

Thanks Sister. I was getting confused as I link amber with getting ready to change. I'm mixing traffic lights up with weather!

stubbornstains · 28/02/2018 10:10

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Blizzarding here now, and the snow's already settling on the ungritted roads. Blizzarding really, really hard. I just don't know how I'm going to get DS1 in my normal estate car. Worse thing is, I have DS2, aged 2, with me. If it wasn't for him, there would be the option of abandoning the car and walking if it got stuck.

stubbornstains · 28/02/2018 10:11

Hi andbaby, I'm between Falmouth and Helston. School is in Gweek. Don't know what to doooo!!!

stubbornstains · 28/02/2018 10:13

Trying not to feel angry at the school going ahead being open with all guns blazing.....There genuinely was not a flake half an hour ago, now it's all white. They would have got loads of shit if they'd closed and it hadn't snowed.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 10:14

got caught up in something. back later.

Amber warning. 14 cm snow😁 PM course just been cancelled 😁 nearly all schools cancelled in county. Looks like a picture postcard outside my house.

BananaFronkle · 28/02/2018 10:42

We've got about 10 cm in central Scotland (highish ground though). All schools closed in our council area. It's been snowing this morning again, but not really putting its back into it.

CointreauVersial · 28/02/2018 10:44

Whoever was asking about Dorking - there's bugger all snow here!

An inch or so last night, but that's nearly all gone, the schools are open as normal, and the sun is cracking the stones.

Icy, though! People not near a main road have had a tricky time driving in, and there were a fair few crashes.

WreckTangled · 28/02/2018 10:44

I am sooo jealous of all the snow! I want some!!!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 28/02/2018 10:47

If I was planning to travel back from Glasgow to the SE on Friday, would I be sensible to come back on Thursday instead? Any thoughts?

(Asking for a friend).

Snowwatcher · 28/02/2018 10:48

OYBBK / Gloria

Any idea what the weekend is looking like in the High Peak?

I'm organising a charity night in Glossop on Saturday. It will cost the charity a lot of money to cancel at the last minute once all food has been prepared. Wondering whether to cancel now?

I've been looking at the snow forecast on netweather and it looks like we are getting a fair bit on Saturday evening. Not sure how reliable that is three days out though?

It's coming down pretty hard again now. Last night was a nightmare on local roads.

All that being said I still love the snow! Off out for a run in it straight after work tonight. Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 10:52

Tricky Miles! Either way you will be driving through snow at some point.

Snowwatcher - also tricky! I think on the day you will be ok, it depends on how much you get until then. I'd look at the roads tomorrow evening and make your decision then if you can.

Tomorrow looks severe for parts of the south I think, more so as you go westwards. Gales (40mph), temps staying below freezing and at times perhaps heavy snow.
South Wales could be badly hit too.

Gertrudethestag · 28/02/2018 10:54

snow here in Cornwall!

gleegeek · 28/02/2018 10:59

West Surrey we've only had a sprinkling of snow last night. Gorgeous sun this morning. We have a funeral to attend in Devon late tomorrow afternoon. Do you think it may be possible to get there or complete madness??? Dh is inclined to ignore all weather warnings, I am less reckless! Normal car BTW, not four wheel drive if it makes a difference?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 11:01

Wow! Met office are forecasting up to 50cm across Dartmoor Thursday into Friday. There will be some epic snowdrifts!

stubbornstains · 28/02/2018 11:01

Holy shit. It's a whiteout here in SW Cornwall.
