Anyone else in Norfolk? I'm in the city (outskirts) and it's 15 inches here so far. Can't get out even if we wanted to!

I have a terrible cold too, and the kids will not stop arguing!

Still, loving watching it and seeing the photos Smile

Misty9 · 28/02/2018 09:04

About a foot of snow overnight in norwich and still falling. Schools are closed and I will need Wine and Cake by midday I think!

Misty9 · 28/02/2018 09:05

Meee molly
Bloody dh works in the garden office so can easily get into work Angry Grin

MollyHopps · 28/02/2018 09:06

Oo misty, xpost!

GloriaSmud · 28/02/2018 09:06

Frolicacid ~ (Hope you don't mind me answering as OYBBK's nipped out) Your DH's suggestion of leaving today might not be such a bad idea. You might get away with leaving very early tomorrow but the snow starts coming into the SW from early morning so it could make for a stressful departure if you left it 'til then and were trying to get ahead of it!

MollyHopps · 28/02/2018 09:07

Haha that is lucky! My DP is a taxi driver and is, insanely, driving about in it Confused

JillJ72 · 28/02/2018 09:09

-6 at 0700h and we had a bit more snow this morning. It's all enough for my chickens' ankles to get cold 😉 It's beautifully sunny now.

Misty9 · 28/02/2018 09:09

Yikes! Hope he stays safe. People are suggesting meeting up with the kids - it's -11 chill factor out there and deeper than their wellies. No fear!

Frolicacid · 28/02/2018 09:10

Thank you gloria. I really appreciate your answer. Although, I was definitely hoping the answer would be that the forecast is wrong and we’ll be fine to stay here until Friday!!
I don’t want to go home yet. We are going to see how much it will cost / if we can stay until Sunday. If we can’t, or it’s too expensive, we will have to pack up and leave today 😞

Middleoftheroad · 28/02/2018 09:11

**It's further north that is the issue. Heavy snow moving across the Midlands and NE. The NE in particular could be getting into a bit of a pickle with snow depths.

We are in Birmingham and just a sprinkle so far in comparison the depths we had at the end of last year, but wondering if the thicker stuff will head this way during school hours (DS1 just started a new secondary that's awkward to drive to at the moment).

ReinettePompadour · 28/02/2018 09:13

Im in Staffordshire (Moorlands/east) and nothing here. Its very cold though -5 but feels cooler.

GloriaSmud · 28/02/2018 09:15

frolic ~ fingers crossed you can extend your stay until Sunday.

Somewhereovertheroad · 28/02/2018 09:24

Gloria, I am wondering if you can answer a question for me. I live in Northern Ireland about 15 miles from the Republic of Ireland border. It’s a red warning for the Republic but we have a yellow warning here.

I am just wondering which do you think is right. I live close to Armagh.

Thanks.

magimedi · 28/02/2018 09:25

3 miles inland from Eastbourne.

Overnight low of -4.8C (the lowest I have ever seen here). About 1cm of snow which is blowing everywhere in strong wind. -1.5C now.

Bored of this - I want spring & look forward to a heatwave thread Grin

icantdothis2017 · 28/02/2018 09:29

Someone tell me next week this night mare will be over ??

fredabear · 28/02/2018 09:34

Thunder snow here now!

Spudlet · 28/02/2018 09:36

molly and misty We're down Attleborough way and we probably have half that - though it's still coming down fast. It's currently knee-deep for my two year old. (V scientific measure there. Grin)

CarpeVitam · 28/02/2018 09:38

West Yorkshire, couple of inches of snow with continuing snow showers.

-5 but 'feels like' -12! Shock

Loving it! Smile

GloriaSmud · 28/02/2018 09:41

Somewhere ~ The whole eastern side/towards the middle of the country will be affected by heavy snow eventually so in a way, I don't think it really matters which warning you use!

summersgoneaway · 28/02/2018 09:41

No snow here yet in yellow and amber warning for tomorrow

whyhastherumgone · 28/02/2018 09:43

Got a good three inches here in Essex and it's still coming down heavily. Last time I checked we're due heavy snow on and off all day but Met Office weather seems to have crashed so don't know if that's changed!

It does look very pretty out there right now - I live in a Mews and it looks like no one has ventured out this morning so there's a courtyard out front that's completely untouched - so very tempting...

dementedma · 28/02/2018 09:44

ooh, I want thundersnow!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 28/02/2018 09:44

I finally have snow in north London! Kids are miffed school is open. I’ve cancelled work and enjoying my second cuppa Grin

icantdothis ~ Latest Outlook from the metoffice. Could turn milder at times (especially in the south) but it's looking like the whole of March could be a cold one for many.

UK Outlook for Sunday 4 Mar 2018 to Tuesday 13 Mar 2018:
Further rain, sleet or snow is expected next Sunday and into Monday, as an area of low pressure moves north across the UK with showers following. Northern parts are likely to see the snow, whereas rain or sleet is more likely further south. It will stay very cold across the UK, with brisk winds in the north. During the following week, and into mid-March it is likely to stay cold in the north, but temperatures could return nearer normal in the south, making it less cold here than recent days. It is likely to be unsettled through the week, with rain and strong winds across the country, perhaps turning to snow across central and northern parts. The best chance of drier conditions will be in the far north and northwest.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 14 Mar 2018 to Wednesday 28 Mar 2018:
The easterly wind is likely to persist, with colder than average conditions in the north, but it may be a little milder at times in the south and southwest of the UK. There will continue to be a risk of snow across some central and northern areas, but in the far north and northwest it should be drier. Frost and ice will continue to be widespread and severe in places. As we head towards the middle of March it may turn more unsettled and less cold with milder and wetter weather spreading up from the south or southwest. This may lead to further significant snow in places although this remains very uncertain. Northern areas may hang on to the colder weather well into March.
