Thank you OYBBK for that update. I would never have even known about the bad weather arriving if it wasn’t for you, no one believed me when I told them last week.

Just mustering the courage to ring in work. Decided even if I get there I might not get back when I finish at 6.15pm.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 07:48

Squirm I think it is likely you will see more snow, see above forecast :)

Very sensible dotty. Check your police and local highways twitter feed. If they say don't travel unless essential it's the perfect thing to quote at work.
Thanks :)

Kent calling.......day 2............after a night of heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures it is like a winter wonderland out there. Not so good for travelling as many smaller roads are blocked, schools closed and public transport severely disrupted. Noticed the farmers out early this morning clearing some roads with their tractors...the main road into town is passable with care but noticed a lot more walkers this morning so think people are leaving their cars at home.

SquirmOfEels · 28/02/2018 07:52

Thanks OYBBK - I think your update crossed with my slow typing (was interrupted as I chased them out of the door, with suitable extra clothes for larking on the way to school)

MadisonAvenue · 28/02/2018 07:57

South Staffs/West Mids border - no more snow since yesterday afternoon but side roads and footpaths are treacherous. I'm still debating taking the dog out as I have two minutes of walking on icy paths before getting to the woods - I know it's just two minutes but ice scares me.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 08:05

I'll be back a bit later. Need to pop out for a bit into the arctic

South Norfolk looks beautiful this morning - we have a good fluffy covering and it's still coming. An utter PITA if you have to travel of course, but rather lovely to look at from indoors.

IamEarthymama · 28/02/2018 08:09

Amy ideas for Wales, weather people?
Small children here who would love just one snow day!

MynameisJune · 28/02/2018 08:19

Schools closed, accidents all over. Snow day for us. Although the sun has just come out so maybe not!

Oreocrumbs · 28/02/2018 08:34

Pretty scary weather here (co. Durham) schools shut, buses off, all roads blocked.

We've just had thunder and lightening and lots and lots of snow! Wind it's brutal it's whipping the house!

The picture is of ENE side of my house, you'll see no snow in a big channel down the garden where the wind is just whipping it up! It is dumping it on the NW and SW sides where it is covering the patio doors that has steps that you now cant see! So we are all sitting tight and will attempt to go out on foot for a bit of sledging after lunch, but only if the wind drops a bit, because it is brutal!

Cleared car at 5 am about 2-3 inches of snow. Now cleared car again after constant blizzard another 2 inches of snow! Why am I constantly clearing car? Because my dd got into work this morning via a taxi but may not be able to get home tonight. I'm hoping now sun is out but -3 and more with wind, it might melt snow like it did yesterday, but I think its a vain hope!

MistyMeena · 28/02/2018 08:38

North west Kent - very heavy snow, all schools shut and nothing going anywhere! Beautiful day but no signs of melting, thermometer says -7.

OverlyYappy · 28/02/2018 08:40

Schools closed here in East of Scotland, all neighbours kids are out playing. My eldest has to go to work so he's grumping around. My NDNeighbour messaged me at 11pm last night to tell me we had BIG snowflakes, I was sleeping.

lubeybooby · 28/02/2018 08:41

-7.7 in the south Shropshire hills with a 'feels like' of -13 , coldest it's been so far since I moved here. Currently snowing lightly but still not much settling, maybe a cm or two.

Lupiform · 28/02/2018 08:44

Anyone in Dorking/Leatherhead/Chessington/Kingston who can let me know the snow situation?

@NickMyLipple I'm nearby (Richmond) and there is a lot of snow (for us) and also a lot of travel disruption for trains and tubes.

dementedma · 28/02/2018 08:49

heavy snow here in Fife. Chief Exec has issued a snow day and told us all to stand down. yay! Scotland on edge of red warning now. Blimey.

Frolicacid · 28/02/2018 08:49

oybbk - I know it’s probably too early to tell, but have you any thoughts on what West Wales might get / not get tomorrow / fri? We are on holiday in the south west and need to travel home to the north west on fri. Husband thinks we should maybe go home today!!

Rhodiolia · 28/02/2018 08:50

Im east coast Scotland and our schools are open Shock

Quickchange1 · 28/02/2018 08:53

Peak District. Lots of snow overnight and ice a problem. Many schools closed but some opening late! Blizzard again now but very off and on!

NickMyLipple · 28/02/2018 08:55

@lupiform - thanks! Snow day again for me 😂

applelolly · 28/02/2018 09:00

Snow Day! First this winter. Better late than never!! (South Yorks)

applelolly · 28/02/2018 09:01

finally get to use the 2 new sledges I bought in December before our promised snow buggered off 50 miles south over night!

PrimalLass · 28/02/2018 09:02

South Fife, we are all at home and it is snowing heavily again. Can't see schools being open tomorrow either.
