Do you think we'll get school closing amounts on Friday in Oxfordshire? DD would be delighted to miss having to dress up for World Book Day Grin.

fredabear · 27/02/2018 22:26

waves at dotty and sam I'm a few miles south west of you, near J60 of the A1m, where the fire service have recently cut someone from their car after an accident in the snow... like you I can't really believe it can get worse, even though I know it is still not as bad as winter 2010/11

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 27/02/2018 22:28

North Wales coast. All the snow had melted by midday. It's been a beautiful and bright afternoon and I got a load of washing dried on the line! No frost yet. The forecast is for -5 overnight but I am sceptical.

EmyRoo · 27/02/2018 22:28

West coast Scotland here, the schools are closed which seems an over reaction as there is hardly any snow and it is not snowing.

gttia · 27/02/2018 22:29

Thank you for the new link, we just fall into the amber. Wander how much that will impact us? School closed early so waiting on that too tmrw

North East here. Woke up this morning to a couple of cms. Had a few snow showers throughout the day. It's now whipping up a storm coming down heavily and wind is creating drifts. I've got icicles hanging from the guttering! It's apparently going to get worse as we are on Amber alert until Thursday night.

ConfusedDotty · 27/02/2018 22:31

@OYBBK. Red warning! I hope not. Now, I love dramatic weather but any wilder and windier than this would cause havoc.

Hi Fredabear. True 10/11 winter lasted forever.

NickMyLipple · 27/02/2018 22:32

Now here is something of wonder... Crawley has moved locations entirely! Never known it to be west of Basingstoke!

Emy are you in the amber warning area?

My weather station has reached -9c.

How did Crawley manage that? Shock

Interesting couple of hours here in north Northamptonshire. I was at DS' karate lesson and when we went in the roads and paths were mostly clear - an hour later there was a reasonable dusting. I dropped DS at home and went to collect DD2 from work. Within minutes of setting out it was coming down thick and fast. There must be a couple of centimetres on my drive now. We'll see what happens overnight.

fredabear · 27/02/2018 22:35

Red Shock I guess at least that would mean I could legitimately not try to get to work...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/02/2018 22:36

I'm guessing fredabear. I hope I'm wrong.

SamPotatoes · 27/02/2018 22:36

definitely not as bad as 2010- was kind of hoping it would be as I was pg then and couldn't go sledging. I wanted to make up for that!

I'm working from home tomorrow. After school club are worried all the staff won't be able to get in. If I work from home I can pick my kids up if there's a problem with staff ratios. Means some parents won't have to worry about leaving work early.

Riverside2 · 27/02/2018 22:39

Amber and yellow warnings confuse me, I keep getting them mixed up Blush

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/02/2018 22:41

I'm signing off for the night. Keep warm all.

Everybodylovesablankie · 27/02/2018 22:42

So jealous of everyone who has got proper snow! Only been a slight dusting here in Leicestershire and I want to take the little ones sledging 😬 Do you know if there's likely to be any snow here oybbk?

EmyRoo · 27/02/2018 22:43

Amber from 6am tomorrow according to the BBC, yellow just now. I suppose that is why the council are being cautious.
DS will be thrilled. Me, not so much.

FreshTart · 27/02/2018 22:44

Cambrian coast, -4 already here. Slight layer of snow left which is now frozen solid and the untreated side roads are lethal. Cant get down the hill to the train station so DD looks like having another sledging day day of revision.

Lupiform · 27/02/2018 22:46

Looking at the forecast, I'm now wondering if DH will be able to get home from Aberdeen to London at all on Thursday afternoon. As his next stop is Hull, perhaps he had better just stay up there and travel as and when he can!

BertrandRussell · 27/02/2018 23:20

We have thunder, lightning and snow all at the same time. I didn’t realize that was a thing!

Justmuddlingalong · 27/02/2018 23:24

Thundersnow. Lucky you @BertrandRussell, Envy

PotatoesOfTheCarribean · 27/02/2018 23:26

Aw I want thundersnow! Envy

Perihelion · 27/02/2018 23:34

All Edinburgh schools are shut tomorrow, which is a great way to decrease traffic on the roads ( apart from routes to good sledging hill.....)
