It does seem extra long Helena.

@stubbornstains I'm meant to be travelling to Newquay tomorrow from London. Can you update on the snowfall in the morning please as I hate driving in it! Thank you!

MachineBee · 27/02/2018 21:39

Northern East Sussex snowing heavily again. No doubt I’ll be snowed in tomorrow. Hmm

ConfusedDotty · 27/02/2018 21:44

Very heavy snow here all evening. Very strong winds and blizzard conditions. I am very doubtful about getting into work in the morning. South Tyneside here about 5 mins from the coast.

I have never seen anything like it before.

midnightflowers · 27/02/2018 21:46

Any idea if it will snow in West Midlands? Met office keeps saying snow but we haven't got anymore since the light dusting earlier Sad

stubbornstains · 27/02/2018 21:49

ladyG Don't worry, if it snows properly I'll be all over this thread like a rash!!

Have you driven in Cornwall when it's snowed before, though? Half an inch and everybody's sliding off the roads, due to inadequate gritting Hmm. The A30 might be OK. Might.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/02/2018 21:52

midnight I think later tonight you may get some heavy snow for a time. Then some snow showers are possible tomorrow and perhaps something more prolonged towards the end of the week.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/02/2018 21:53

Dotty, I'm afraid you have an awful lot more coming over the next couple of days.

Will Lomdon see anything more tomorrow? BBC says yes but Met Office No.

SamPotatoes · 27/02/2018 22:03

Dotty, I'm S tyneside too! Glued to my window at the moment.

Riverside2 · 27/02/2018 22:03

it seems extra long because it is!

I have to go to Central London for meetings tomorrow and oddly I think there's likely to be more snow there than Essex! But all the forecasts say different things...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/02/2018 22:03

I don't think so pointless. Not much anyway.

18z is rolling out. While lots in the midlands up will see snow tomorrow the two notable areas are Lincolnshire and the NE.

I'm near Hunstanton, Norfolk, looks like more snow is forecast early hours and tomorrow.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 27/02/2018 22:04

Work are insistent that we'll all be ok. (South east wales right on the coast).

I'm happy I can get there (winter tyres and good car) but it'll depend on whether schools open.

We've had heavy flurries on and off all day but none has hung around for long. It's looking as if Thursday night will be the most snow that we might get.

IrenetheQuaint · 27/02/2018 22:04

Still a thin layer of snow in London, and the pavements are lethal... they've mostly been gritted but there are lots of treacherous icy patches. I am wearing the world's most sensible shoes and still almost went arse over tit on the walk home from the tube.

ConfusedDotty · 27/02/2018 22:10

SamPotaoes. Hello neighbour. I can’t think how it can possibly get any worse than this when the amber warning takes effect tomorrow. It’s mad out there.

I have been up since 4am this morning snow watching. I need to get some sleep but it’s mesmerising. The cars are just mounds of snow on the drive now.

Riverside2 · 27/02/2018 22:12

@IreneTheQuaint - is that in central London?

I'm wondering if I should try and rearrange that meeting last minute - client doesn't know where I'm coming in from - but then again I should probably be prepared for them to cancel first thing as I don't know where the staff are commuting from that side either!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 27/02/2018 22:14

DD2's secondary school shut today - so she was happy.
DD1's sixth form college bus arrived and took her, but the 2nd bus didn't come so only half of the students were in the classes.

My school open.

We had flurries on and off that looked bad, but the roads remained open and it was actually quite warm where the sun shone so it melted q quickly again.

I'm watching all the forecasts nervously as I have tickets to the Imagine Dragons concert on Sat in Manchester for DD and I and we need to get the train from Chester that morning. I really will be upset if we can't make it!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/02/2018 22:17

updated amber warnings for parts of the SE tomorrow as well as fresh yellow ones.

Justmuddlingalong · 27/02/2018 22:18

Fife Council have tweeted that all schools are closed tomorrow. (Wed 28th).

Lupiform · 27/02/2018 22:19

SW London here. It snowed quite a lot today even though we weren't forecast very much. The pavements are really icy now (-4 outside) and I think it will be horrible in the morning. DH is in Aberdeen and says it's bitterly cold.

We've been told school will contact us in the morning re potential closure. Even though we haven't had tons of snow, I think the temperature and ice will impact on trains etc for staff getting to school.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/02/2018 22:22

I do think that there is a possibility for red warnings up in the NE and or parts of eastern Scotland tomorrow. I very very rarely say that.

OP posts:
IrenetheQuaint · 27/02/2018 22:22

Yes, central London. It has been pretty much fine transportwise within the city, but if you have lots of meeting attendees coming from further afield you might want to reconsider.

ineedaholidaynow · 27/02/2018 22:23

Finally had some in Devon. Not too much at the moment

Riverside2 · 27/02/2018 22:25

@IrenetheQuaint - thank you!

it's so weird, I nearly rearranged and then didn't because so much of the predicted snow hasn't appeared round here...(not that I mind, I didn't want it!)
