It comes down quick and what lays melts fast?, why is that given it it so cold?

Aaannd the snow has hit Braintree.

Pointless I've just been pondering that question. It's -1c and melting. I can understand it when the sun comes out, but during the snowfall? I can't see how the ground is that warm. I can only conclude that we must be having an upwelling of magma under us.

Speaking of melting, I was in a panic earlier about it freezing overnight leading to awful side roads tomorrow. It’s all melted. But it’s freezing and there’s been no sunshine. 🤔

South Midlands here - it’s been snowing solidly for three hours, lovely big white flakes. Stopped now and there’s not a flake to be seen on the ground or anywhere. Birds are singing and the sun is out!

I am pleased. Snow causes too many problems for me to be pleased about it.

There are rumours of a red warning being created for parts of eastern Scotland where snow depths could reach 40cm.

In the mean time, showers are really pepping up on the radar.

I've just asked the question on a weather forum, oybbk.
-2 temp, dew point -3 and wet snow that won't settle is weird.

Sun’s out here too but our weather warnings are back for Thursday and Friday as OYBBK said, so there is yet hope!

It’s snowing in Herefordshire. Proper big snowflakes! Drove round Gloucester late morning with flurries of polystyrene balls but this is the serious stuff.

Had light snow this morning which started to melt. Now the skies are very dark and with wet heavy snowfall ( mid Wales).

There’s not a lot happening around our area. Bah!

At least my drive was uneventful. No snowmen for the kids

Just watching News24 (weather's the main news item) and the metoffice have said that if you haven't seen snow yet, you will do by the end of the week as it is coming.

Not had a lot happening here (Leicester) ~ had a blizzard shower that was mostly graupel about midday but that's been it.

For those PPs envious of my snowfall earlier it settled at 7inches. Completely ruined my DDS birthday treat as I’m on crutches and didn’t dare risk going out with that much snow. Not sure the party for her on Saturday will be ok either. It’s happening in SW London and family are coming down from midlands.

Just started proper snowing and laying in Gosport! Been sunny and lovely all day and it's just come out of nowhere 😄

I'm in Dundee and can report a wee bit snow this morning and currently sunshine but bloody freezing just now. Anyone you speak to doesn't believe it will come to anything and is over hyped as it usually is here...
