Pretty blah in East Surrey. We had a couple hours of heavy snow forecast this morning but all we got was very fine namby pamby snow that just floated around looking pretty. Boo. Had a memory from 6 years ago pop up on FB today of us sledging in deep snow. I think that was the last time we got anything decent. We're going to have to start going abroad for holidays to get decent snow as well as decent sun I think!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/02/2018 14:38

updated warnings

It will be interesting to see how far tomorrow's band makes it across.

Ooo, excellent stuff Perihelion!

We've woken up to surprise snow as well here (Leicester) and we seem to be covered by one of the (updated) weather warnings as well now.

GloriaSmud · 06/02/2018 07:24

Erm, our snow (that wasn't forecast) is coming down in quite an 'aggressive manner' here and we've got 1-2cms already. This could make the school run 'interesting.'

AbiBranning · 06/02/2018 07:29

All mentions of snow for S Berks this week, have gone. I feel like instead of details when I click on the Metoffice app it should just come up with 'give up it isn't going to happen'

AbiBranning · 06/02/2018 07:29

For those that get it - Enjoy!

notsomanky · 06/02/2018 07:35

Gloria Envy

Cold and grey here in Manchester.

No snow!

GloriaSmud · 06/02/2018 07:49

Excitement over ~ 'tis stopping. End result ~ about 2cms.

MrSlant · 06/02/2018 08:06

Oh it's so pretty here right now! It must be 3 years since it last snowed here at least. Also the roads are good so I can send the DC to school, perfect snow!

Perihelion · 06/02/2018 08:17

Aggressive snow is my favourite snow. We now have civilized snow.... everything is covered except the roads ( and not through gritting, just a wee bit warm )

Perihelion · 06/02/2018 08:20

Just heard on the radio that the BBC is launching new weather graphics and un-tilting the map. So Scotland should be back to normal size Grin

Roystonv · 06/02/2018 08:23

Garden covered (and so pretty) road clear in coastal South Lakes.

MistyMeadow · 06/02/2018 09:26

Just starting in Warrington, looks reasonably hopeful! DC's in school so all good!

MistyMeadow · 06/02/2018 13:54

It has been snowing, quite heavily here now for almost 5 hours, not one flake has settled, what an absolute waste!!

notsomanky · 06/02/2018 15:03

snowed on and off here for the last 5 hours too - but the flakes are fine and only settling on some of the grassy areas - the pavements are just wet

GloriaSmud · 06/02/2018 16:04

Misty ~ I hate it when that happens. Seems such a waste of energy to snow that long and yet achieve nothing!

Updated weather warnings through until Friday.

brizzledrizzle · 06/02/2018 19:37

We've actually had snow instead of rain Shock

gttia · 06/02/2018 19:53

North Kent/south London are forecast snow overnight :-(. No pls no. I need to do three school drop offs and busy at work!

GloriaSmud · 06/02/2018 20:11

gttia ~ think it'll only be showers, might be slight accumulation but nothing too major. Ice could be the main problem though (and that goes for a lot of the country overnight.)

We've been having a 'civilized' snow shower (as opposed to the 'aggressive manner' of the one this morning) for the last 2 hours or so. Very slight covering on grass but that's it.

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 06/02/2018 20:30

Nothing here at all Sad

InMySpareTime · 06/02/2018 20:34

Manchester had 6 hours of constant snowfall, and this was the extent of the snow cover in my garden (see pic).
I have no idea why that one brick accumulated snow better than the rest of the garden, but it's better than nothing I suppose, still decent snow cover for Manchester...

Phew Gloria. I literally hate the stuff Sad. I like to get to work and back and not worry all day about school closing etc. Showers I can just about cope with...
