I'm Kent, border of south east London and no snow here. Clear sky in fact

How far in advance are the weather warnings issued just wondering when we may get any warnings for Friday?

We're on the east coast of Scotland and the weather warning for Thursday popped up this afternoon, so I would imagine there's time yet for warnings for Friday @whereareyousleep.

Perihelion I'm the other side of the river. Should be at work in Edinburgh on Thursday but am not expecting to make it in. Shame ...

The met office was showing heavy snow for Friday earlier, now it says light snow.

whereareyou ~ I think tomorrow or Tuesday. It'll be when the metoffice is fairly sure snow (or whatever weather-type) is going to happen. Friday is proving to be a bit difficult at the moment.

Normally I'd say Tuesday but I think Gloria's right in that they may be issued tomorrow and then refined as we go through. Sometimes if things look especially potent they give an earlier heads up than usual.

0.25mm is just a trace and would be the equivalent of a bit of drizzle.

The metoffice predictions have changed for me now. ( South London Surrey border). The snow seems to die out early Monday morning and not much on the cards for Tuesday. Looks like my dc were right in thinking i was mad for thinking we may get snowed in and hence stockpiling lots of food!! [Blush]

perhaps, don't rely too much on the automated output.

I'm flying to Amsterdam Thu am from Birmingham for work, back Fri eve. Should I be worried?

I am packing thermals but figuring Europeans are good at weather stuff. Unlike Brits.

Train ticket, check! Meeting stuff, check! Spare knickers & contact lenses stuffed inside laptop case, check! All ready for my adventure to London Town tomorrow - i’m pretty confident i’ll get there, less confident on getting home if the snow hits. Best of British to you all

You know something, after all this forecasting I'd bloody better get some snow out of it. I'm not sure that I will get anything other than the odd flurry til thursday though.

Just waiting for the 18z to come out and then I can go to bed.

I'm also waiting to go to bed but the BBC news has just started now so I might as well wait and see what they say too 😴😴

According to uksnowmap.com light snow starting in north Norfolk... I'm in Norfolk but nothing yet eek!!

18z very similar to before but pulls thursday/friday's low a bit further west so that much of Ireland/Northern Ireland has a bit of a problem (understatement) It still shows a horrid mix of heavy snow to start then a mix of rain and the one weather I actively fear, freezing rain.
