0.25mm is just a trace and would be the equivalent of a bit of drizzle.

So what am I looking for to be of something proper?

Im not sure if it means 0.25mm over the full hour/3 hours or what.

Wed is showing up to 1.36 at some points.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/02/2018 22:30

The bbc forecasts really are crap. Far too brief, overcooking the temperatures and how on earth is anyone supposed to know what to expect? I don't normally watch them.

Gilead · 25/02/2018 22:30

It's currently snowing on the Norfolk/Suffolk border!

perhapstomorrow · 25/02/2018 22:30

OYBBK - is freezing rain the same as hail? Just wandering what the difference is.

Springiscoming123 · 25/02/2018 22:31

agree, they are useless and dont give any detail

i think they wont say to much unless it goes very wrong

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/02/2018 22:31

It's getting a bit late for me to think now Harleen, prod me tomorrow if I've not answered, off to bed.
Good night all :)

SnowiestMountain · 25/02/2018 22:32

Agreed OYBBK! That forecast was rubbish, I could have been in bed half an hour ago!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/02/2018 22:32

freezing rain tends to freeze on contact with surfaces. It forms an awful ice glaze over everything.

user1494066152 · 25/02/2018 22:37

Gilead -I keep getting up to look out the window as I'm Norfolk but nothing yet... I'm right on the beach tho

lamettarules · 25/02/2018 22:44

It's late and I should be in bed but the met office seems to have varying reports depending on which page you go to .

Weather warnings have amber alerts for Lond and SE for weds and thurs ,

But if you search by location Lond and SE has yellow warnings for those days .

I'm off to bed .

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 25/02/2018 22:48

Some people localish on my fb are reporting snow now but nothing here...yet, they're north/north east norfolk

magimedi · 25/02/2018 22:49

With Netweather precipitation, it also says ( on the website ) showers, moderate, heavy and torrential as well as the numbers. Moderate should give some ok snow and heavy and torrential would be awesome.
There's talk of possible thunder snow on Wednesday Wink Am getting a wee bit excited as with it being cold and dry, any snow will settle.

BlackeyedSusan · 26/02/2018 00:12

So it's still very much up in the air as so to speak.

surely all weather is up in the air, until it hits the ground...

[sorry] Blush

GrockleBocs · 26/02/2018 01:01

OYBBK and Gloria I love your double act. We have a car parked away from our minor road hill because of this. If it's a false alarm, nobody need know. If it's not, we'll be smug and grateful!

Trailedanderror · 26/02/2018 05:35

Nothing in South London yet!

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 26/02/2018 06:07

Nothing in East Kent, sigh.

GloriaSmud · 26/02/2018 06:38

Now Blackeyed Grin

Here in Leicester, I can report...it's.....SNOWING
Can see the flakes when lamp post watching.
And there are a good few showers showing up here so more to come.

Stokey · 26/02/2018 06:39

Snowing lightly in east London.... Just starting ❄️☃️

Looks like Thursday is going to be the most snowy day here though

GloriaSmud · 26/02/2018 06:43

Latest Outlook from the metoffice ~

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Extremely cold with a significant wind chill for most. Widespread snow showers Wednesday, with the largest snowfalls across northeastern Britain. Possibly some disruptive snowfall across the south Thursday into Friday.

UK Outlook for Friday 2 Mar 2018 to Sunday 11 Mar 2018:
Northern areas will be bright with further snow showers on Friday, but we could see heavier and disruptive snow developing across southern and some central areas, combined with strong to gale force easterly winds, leading to blizzard conditions. However, there is a an element of uncertainty with this. Thereafter, it is looking increasingly likely to be unsettled with a north-south split in temperatures across the UK. The coldest and driest conditions are likely in the far north and northwest. We may see areas of rain moving northeastwards from the southwest at times, which could well turn to snow across central and northern areas. It will be often windy with gales possible at times. Remaining cold for many, but nearer normal temperatures at times in the southern half of the UK.

Sounds like they're still not sure about Thursday/Friday. It's going to be an interesting week...
